Bit More of a Pet

Jackie Milburn first came here from the cat rescue where he had been for about a month around my birthday at the end of January.

He has been a daddy's boy from the start but I have been the instigator, the first one to touch him, stroke him, pick him up and shift him over, all that sort of stuff.

He has always had his bolt hole on top of the wardrobe and he would get up with his daddy to get his breakfast and then, when I came down, we would pass on the stairs as he dashed up to his bolt hole to get out of the way of whatever was making that noise on the stairs.

He doesn't dash upstairs anymore but he is still wary and not cuddly, still got his feral wits about him, but , this morning, he sat on my lap for a good half hour and would probably still be there if the newspaper had not touched him and re-awakened the feral instincts.

Little bit more of a pet pussy today.

Just what you want as winter gets here, then he'll help keep you warm :-)

Great excuse for not doing anything too - you couldn't possibly disturb the cat! :-)

..and how is he when it comes to flea treatment? :-D

Mine know when I take the phial out of the packet, and again, when I take the top off :-|
I then have to catch them. It can last all day.
I've managed one - the other cat is a bit canny :-P :-P

Edit: just caught the second one. :-D
I have to saunter towards him, phial in hand, casually stroke him in passing, then get the headlock on quickly, and put the stuff on as he's sliding through my arms to rush out the catflap - which is why I can't do it if it's raining :-|

I think he must have had that treatment they inject them with when he was at the cat rescue.

Because I had paid for neutering vouchers for two other strays that had never been redeemed and I paid the adoption fee for him, even though I had enticed and caught him, I had a special treatment package. I have nt really looked at the papers properly but I think he has been immunized for three years and he has never had any sign of a flea, and neither have I, I think the flea treatment must have been part of his jabs.

..I wait with baited breath for when you have to do him :-D :-D :-D

I'm lucky that my cats aren't vicious.
After putting the stuff on them, they either treat me with disdain, or flinch whenever I go near them. Anyone would think I'd screamed in their ears. :-(

I hadn't noticed any fleas either - just thought I'd better do it.
Daughter SiL and two small grand daughters are staying next week.
