Thank you everyone for your help. obviously I cannot find Ann s maiden name or where William came from.I will have to dig deeper somewhere.Thanks once again I just wanted advise where to look best.

Dartford Parish register entry no 416 she was baptised 11 April 1952 and born 1 Nov 1841

He is a chair turner, it seems to have Phoebe as being born in Dartford not market Harborough yet ever other census it is different. Mistra
nscribed again I suppose.

In 1851 census, Ancestry has mistranscribed Ann and Phoebe as surname SHANE

They are in Dartford.

What is shown as William's occupation on Phoebe's marriage certificate?

I have Ann s daughter who is my grt grt grand mother Her name is Phoebe Shaw birth 1 St Nov 1841 Market Harborough Leicestershire uk Died 1907 Dartford kent on her marriage certificate it say her father was William Shaw.Her mother Ann was born around 1799in Doncaster Yorkshire she lived with Phoebe in 1861 and 1871 after this Ann was in Dartford workhouse she died in Dartford 5th May 1881 and is buried in cemetery at the brent easthill Dartford kent That's all I know.

we need more info like dates and areas to try and heip

If she had a child after 1837 you can see the MMN on GRO now.

Could you give her few more details please? Like a name, likely place & year/decade?

As she's a grt grt grt grandmother, it's possible that she was born before civil registration began. If a child's birth was registered, then her maiden name would be shown on the certificate.

Civil Registration commenced in 1837 for England & Wales, although not compulsory to reg births until 1873. In Scotland, civil registration began in 1850 or there abouts.
