Thank you for your reply - appreciated. However, this is a printed page of the census not a handwritten one. So there is no way of knowing whether the original was badly written. |

Ted, if you give the details from the transcription, we can probably find the image to look at. The exception would be if it’s from Scotland as that would be on Scotlandspeople, a pay to view site. Only transcriptions are available on other sites. |

Even if you don't want to give all that information, a few clues could help, particularly age, gender and the type of residence. Was it an ordinary household, an institution or somewhere with many servants? |

Thank you very much to all who responded and helped me. I have looked at the original census and 'nib' should read 'nil' in the relation column, in other words no ralationship! |
