Yes I make my appointments on line as well. Very convenient when you can't hear well on the phone. We can't make appointments with our nurses though, not sure why.

We collected our prescriptions this afternoon from the surgery and ordered next months at the same time. These will be ready on the 20th September so couldn't be easier!! David I thought you said sometime ago that your GP didn't want to act for you anymore?!! Have I got this wrong? If so, apologies!

Kucinta & AnnG it is Patient Access that we use to order repeat prescriptions on line.

You can also make appointments on line to see your Doctor through Patient Access which is very handy too especially when you are due a medication review :-)

I've been fortunate in that I've had the same postman for years.

My wife won't change to Pharmacy2U as her Chemist collects her prescription,

dispenses it then delivers it to our bungalow, equally efficient arrangement.

Kucinta, I suspect we could do that if necessary as well as we have the on line patient access. Well I have, every time OH tries to register something goes wrong. He needs to get to the surgery to sort that out, you just reminded me.

I use the online Patient Access service to order my repeat prescriptions from my GP's surgery, and they then send it on to to the local pharmacy I have selected as part of the order process, so I can then collect it when I'm ready.

Most of our Posties are lovely but I wouldn't trust them to deliver my medicines safely.
Our mail often gets put into the wrong slot at the sorting office (in our village). sometimes they spot they still have ours in their hand and come back. Deliveries are anywhere from about 8 am to about 4 pm

. But sometimes we have to rely on the good will of other villagers.

I'm also not at all sure they deliver every day. One postie actually confirmed this to a friend in another village.

That's the reason a lot of local shops are closing because it's so easy now on the internet .health also comes in to it as we get older some people aren't as mobile .shame as the joy of just going out to local shops can be the only way we see neighbours & have a chat use your local as much as possible while you can .Barbara

I have to be honest and confess that I never thought me changing my prescription

supplier could possibly cause an established Chemist to go out of business.

We get repeat prescription every month after we get meds there will be perscription for next time fill that in drop it off Pharmacy get text when its ready.no waiting in pharmacy we could get it all delivered for free can understand David .but think we all need to try to support local shops .Barbara :-)

Almost the same as Sylvia, Children under 25 and I think seniors free meds recently changed to full coverage by the Government for anything your insurance doesn't pay so still basically free.
We can order our refills online or phone or person to either pick up in person or have delivered to house for free. Depending on the meds depends on the length of renewals...

Unlike Allan ............ my visits to the GP's office cost me nothing, it's all covered by the Provincial Medical Plan (aka MSP).

We do pay a monthly fee to MSP that costs just over $290 a month for the 2 of us ............

for that we get unlimited visits to our GP, free specialist care if referred by the GP, free Emergency care at a hospital, free cost of hospitalization and medications while in hospital (except for a small charge per night for the bed), and reduced cost of an annual eye exam if over 65.

We do not get free prescriptions from the GP unless well under the poverty line.

As I work, delivery to home is useless.
My prescription is sent to Lloyds.
I pick the pills up every 3 months.

Well you all have it cushy in the UK compared to Oz.

My GP gives me a prescription for six months supply of medication. You then have to revisit at the end of that period and see the GP again before any further prescription is issued, even though my medication will be required for the rest of my life.

Unless bulk-billed, a visit to the GP now costs around $80.00.

I always ring the surgery and the office pass it to a doctor to sign. It goes to Boots who deliver it.

One of the receptionists has a mum who was only a couple of years younger than Fred and we were hoping to get them married off when he died. We like to discuss how things might have been.

I wouldn't dream of using Pharmacy2U.as we have a pharmacy in our village surgery.

I would hate to put our pharmacists out of business because of a so called firm who could be charging the NHS twice as much as it should be.


With our repeat prescriptions we get them delivered every 4 weeks if over 60 and cannot get to the doctors.

Some of the villagers have a yearly review for their repeat prescriptions and then have to get a mile down the road for reviews.

Will stick to my own doctor's pharmacy.

It's interesting to read about the different ways pharmacies and surgeries work.

Our small town pharmacy also requested that we did not use Pharmacy2U and I wouldn't be keen to wait on the post for medications.
When we collect prescription items from the pharmacy, there is a repeat prescription form in the bag. When the meds. need to be ordered, I tick required items and post the completed form in the special slot in the surgery foyer.- no queue, the doctor signs when he / she has time and prescription forms are collected by whichever pharmacy I have nominated and are entered into their system, so I can phone in to see if it is ready to collect or just pop in if I am in town.
Generally the doctor now signs for 2 months supply of tablets at a time on repeat items, so this cuts down on his time.

Since my discharge from the RVI I've had district nurse visit twice and I recently had a visit from DR OF to review medication.
