I live on the West Coast of Canada, the region is known as a Temperate RAIN FOREST because we get so much rain ...... but that mainly falls in the winter months.

The reservoirs in the mountains get filled but, regardless of how much rain or snow we get, we still AUTOMATICALLY are put under Stage 1 of water restrictions on MAY 1 until OCTOBER.

That means watering your garden by hosepipe or sprinkler once a week from 5 am to 9 am ............... unless you have a newly planted lawn and use a hand-controlled spray head on the hose pipe. No washing of cars using a hosepipe.

We're used to water restrictions ................. it doesn't mean that you're being done by the water company, just that if you don't conserve water, you won't have enough by the end of this current heat wave. I saw in the media last night that you are forecast to have the high temperatures to the end of July.

Our water here is controlled by the Metro Board, but other areas have private water companies ......... all follow more or less the same plans for summer and winter.

I don't hear anywhere near as many complaints that seem to result from your privatised boards.

Some of the passengers on the bus this morning seem to be doing their bit to conserve water.

Their personal hygiene would embarrass a skunk.

I still say every year we have some problem or another and something happens and its always the costumer who suffers either it’s standpipes in the street in winter or water restrictuions or Jose pope ban in the summer and still the boss are making big mong while sitting in their offices giving ther order but not sure if the job is done right

I am on a water meter and live on my own (widow) a few years back I was paying £67 pound a month now I’m not there all the time has I come down to my elderly Mum a lot so I knew this was not right called them out to have a looke at the meter no nothing wrong with it but a few weeks later with me still nagging them they owned that the owed me £600 pounds I know that has nothing to do with what’s going on now but they very slow to get on with things and to catch up thing and in the mean time we the public suffer

We are using the hose very occasionally, in fact hardly at all, relying on watering cans as, especially on lawns, it will not do a lot of good as the water just bounces off. We have been asked to not use sprinklers or wash cars with hoses. Our cars are very dusty but it won't hurt them. We are on a meter. Our neighbour is not on a meter and has received a text not to use the hose on the garden............ so he has filled his water barrel using the hose!!!!! If we have water cuts I will not be happy with him.

Only NI has a hose pipe ban. We are using more at the moment. The water boards can’t keep up with treatment before it’s put through the mains, hence the call to go easy on extra use.

As to profit - it’s going to the Executives & to Shareholders. Even if they were renationalised, it’s unlikely there would be sufficient cash to replace the infrastructure.

Why o why can’t these water companies get their act together and sort things out after all we pay enough, in the winter in some parts of the country there was frozen pipes and people was without water for weeks now we have a heatwave and we are told to go easy with our water just what do they do with our money.
