Ah yes David...the required heir and a spare.

Little Charlotte will have something to aspire to if she has another brother

Sad about the divorces, any divorces, but the union, while it lasted resulted in
descendants to prop the upper levels of the aristocracy.

Mayfield, some of the royals did 'It's a Knockout' in the 80s (?) and a documentary series of the immediate family just being a family was made at some point, so 'Keeping up with the royals' isn't that far fetched.

Think Prince Edward's wife is named Sophie (?)

One of the main qualities the next Royal generation will need is to be shatter-proof.

Wait for the TV reality series "Keeping up with the Royals" ! :-D

PS anyone else wondered why they are called reality series they seem totally divorced from any normal real folk!

You could be right Kath. Perhaps I was getting confused with the number of marriages or liaisons.

I hope they will be happy. At least Meghan is not a teenager and is old enough to know her own mind.

As far as I am aware Princess Ann has only been divorced once from Captain Phillips.

That's it Det, low public profile. Edward and his wife (does anyone even know her name?) Haven't been constantly stalked by the paps. Ms Markle may well tolerate that to a point given her show biz background but will she cope with the restraints of royal life given her non show biz background. She has already had to give up her American citizenship and be baptised into the required religion.

Will this lady happily live her life as a royal puppet?

I wish them luck and like any couple it'll work if they make it work!

Fingers crossed that the marriage will last at least as long as Meghan's previous arrangement with Trevor Engelson.

Margaret - divorced
Ann - Divorced (twice)
Andrew - Divorced
Charles - Divorced.

So one great aunt & 3 of Elizabeth's children have divorced.
Edward has a fairly low public profile - perhaps that's the key?

David

David Report 16 Apr 2018 12:51

Despite early shennanigans Elizabeth's has produced 3 princes and 1 princess
Her sister Margaret Rose's lasted longer than some
Prince Andrew's produced two daughters.
Prince Charles's produced two princes.
Prince Edward's has been stable.
Prince William's has produced a prince and a princess
Why shouldn't Prince Harry's be any less fortunate ?

Dermot

Dermot Report 16 Apr 2018 12:50

'Marriage is a fluctuating & a variable institution which has passed through almost every conceivable form & experiment in the course of its long history from the primitive care of offspring without association of mates to the modern association of partners without the production of any children'.

Not sure - as she's an actress she could probably keep up a pretence in public, but who knows what goes on behind closed doors?

Both come from broken families with a certain amount of baggage. She may get fed up with the media attention which will inevitably continue + the rigidity of Court Life.

Regardless of his 'status', lets hope for their own sake they can make a go of it. The same applies to any couple who are tying the knot.

As likely to ( or not) as any other marriage.
