Her family mourn her
But some people remember a darker side of her life

May she RIP

I hope she rots in hell personally.

Yes, I'm not too sure about how I feel about her.
Was she a victim, or perpetrator?

A bit of both, I think, Maggie. She fell into some very bad company.

Hope she found peace in the end.

I think she WAS the bad company. A more vicious person would be hard to find!

We have the luck to not know how it feels to be victims of apartheid or to have a husband unjustly incarcerated for such a long time.

Maybe we would have made the same choices.

She was responsible for some dreadful violence perpetrated by her followers but she and they had been subjected to dreadful violence as well under a despicable regime.

I don't excuse what she did, it was dreadful.

It just goes to show what an amazing man her husband was to bring peace to such a violent country.

Her husband suffered appallingly, and behaved with utmost dignity and conciliation. What a fantastic man. Winnie, after the end of apartheid behaved atrociously. No wonder Mandela divorced and distanced himself from her.

I think the best thing Nelson did was ditch her
But there again didn't he also ditched his first wife to

I still for all her crimes hope she rests in peace :-(

Where you stand determines what you see.

I've never been a victim of apartheid, but have been a victim of racial abuse, through 'mistaken identity'.
Apartheid is a thousand + times worse than racial abuse - and a person can't change the colour of their skin, or move from where they live.
