how do i find a divorce am looking for a Diane Jermy married stephen Audus married in 1973. searched a few places but only marriage comes up and i know they are divorced.

How do I get proof of a divorce, 1858 to present?

Consult the GOV.UK website for details of how to request a copy of a decree absolute, legal proof of a divorce in England or Wales.

If you don’t know which court ratified the divorce you can ask the Central Family Court to carry out a search (£) by filling in a D440 form.

For divorces between c1870-c1937, you may be able to locate a decree in our case files. See section 4.2 for information on what case files contain.

Thank you It is for the mother in law she thought it was 78/79 but stephen remarried in 78

If Stephen remarried, many of the divorce details should be on the marriage certificate.

It sounds as though you are in touch with the parties concerned and both should have copies of the original divorce certificates. Certainly Stephen would have needed his to prove he was free to get married again.

If it’s important for mother-in-law to have a copy of the (lost?) documentation, she’ll need to follow the hyperlinks from the NA link. You could complete the forms for her to sign.

A friend’s in a similar situation. She thinks the paperwork is somewhere in the loft but isn’t too sure if the divorce was finalised. Neither she nor her Ex have considered remarriage to someone else.
