Sorry - what does a closed record indicate?

The 1939 register was a record of everyone in the country (apart from those in the Forces) taken on September 29th 1939 just after WW2 commenced. It enabled ID cards and ration books to be issued and to ID those who were of the age to be called up. Later it became the basis for the NHS system as everyone had unique numbers. It was updated to around 1991 after which computers were used.
Due to privacy rules anyone under the age of 100 and not proved to have died should not be shown on the register - they are the closed records.
It will show name changes i.e. when a women married. Only names, DOB's, address and occupation show, along sometimes with the odd comment such as member of the AFS, Red Cross etc
Very useful as the 1931 census was destroyed in WW2 and there was no 1941 census.
As usual with any record, they are not necessarily 100% accurate e.g. DOB's

"As usual with any record, they are not necessarily 100% accurate e.g. DOB's"
True!!
Never believe ages or birth dates on any census etc etc
My grandfather lied about his date of birth for most of his life, including on censuses, jointing up in WW1, and on the 1939 Register. I think it started when he lied about his age on his marriage certificate (my grandmother also lied)
He even lied to his family ............... so his death registration is also wrong.
His son found a birth certificate hidden at the back of a drawer some weeks after grandfather's death, but did not go back to the Registrar to see about correcting the death registration
In view of the above ................ I always use birth year +/- 2 when searching records. extending the range to +/- 5 or even +/- 10 if I get no results the first time around.

I am slowly working through and looking up your suggestions which look great. Lois's children the twins Frank and John born 1911, I can see Frank died 18 days old and John was 5 months old both in Burton Upon Trent in Staffordshire.
Then looking at Frank 1917 I am pretty sure he belongs to the this family because it states mother as Jukes but if not sure for certain who the 1911 boys mother definitely is as I don't think it stated Jukes or did you see Jukes stated for the twins?
