Thank You Kay :-)

I see what you mean about resembling Canadian. Something else for me to look into and thank you for the link :-)

My late uncle was probably the one who wrote on the front of the photo and he obviously wasn't sure of the details!

Jem,

If you click on the pics it shows proper film reel footage.

Oh Kay, for some reason my old laptop is struggling to show me the videos, but I will persevere :-D

Incidentally, I have just realised that Bisley was in Woking. Woking was where the family lived from at least 1901 until after the war.

Jem, what a lovely photo.

There was a photo of a soldier in my grandparents' effects and I rang and spoke with someone at the Army Museum who asked me to email a copy to him, which I did.

He was super-helpful, mentioning Russian braid, sharpshooter's insignia and other items. He ended saying he had pinned down the uniform to a decade in the 1800s. By checking my information I found it was a photo of my grandfather's cousin who, sadly, died in a military hospital slap bang in the middle of that decade. <3

I have to say that I have found the Navy equally as friendly and helpful when I have contacted anyone there too.

Thanks Joy <3

How wonderful that you were able to find out that information Joy <3
I may just do what you did when I have a little more time.

I have just listened to a BBC Radio Broadcast about the role of the Hythe School of Musketry in WW1 and it was very interesting, helping to give me a new understanding of my Grandfather's role.
