Just popped in to say.........

She's rugby crazy,
She's rugby mad,
The rugby it has taken away
The little bit o' sense she had,
And it would take a dozen members
To wash her clothes and scrub,
Since Jems became the DJ of
The GR rugby club.

Was watching it with my 12 year old rugby playing grand daughter - who explained a lot to me :-D
I can now explain a few technicalities when I'm watching men playing (cos that's all they show) whilst still admiring their physique :-D :-D :-D

Hi Ann and Maggie :-) :-) :-)

Yes it was an enjoyable day's rugby yesterday!:-)

The Wales v Ireland match, in particular, was just the most outstanding rugby game I have seen in a long time! Very exciting!
I recorded it, so I could watch it again. I miss a lot while I'm trying to type! :-D

Thankyou for posting both of you.

I may not be back in time for the Italy v France game, but if not I shall post the results / highlights!
I don't think we have any GR Italian or French supporters here, so I don't think it'll be a problem- IF WE HAVE ANY, PLEASE LET US KNOW!

Feel free to post here in support of your teams, whatever team that may be- In the spirit of good sportsmanship, of course! :-) :-) :-) :-)

WALES WOMEN NEWS

MUM KERIN FOCUSING ON BIG DAY

Mums up and down the land are today celebrating Mother's Day but KERIN LAKE is having to put her own celebrations on hold as her thoughts are somewhere entirely different.

The 24-year-old SKEWEN centre is one of only two mums in the Wales Six Nations squad (wing Rafiuke Taylor being the other) and while other mothers have been treated like royalty on their special day, Kerin has been focusing on the challenge that lies ahead for Wales Women this afternoon when they take on Ireland at St Helen's. (Midday kick-off).

Kerin will start the match on the replacements bench, but she will have the honour of stepping out on to the pitch with 2 YEAR OLD SON JACOB AS HER MASCOT as Wales aim to take their first silverware since 2009.

"It's a big day for us today as we are going for the Triple Crown," said the medical administrator who has to juggle rugby commitments along with her job and being a full-time mum, which poses its own problems.

"It's really hard to juggle the time especially if I am working - sometimes I get up, drop the baby off before work. I won't see him if I have to come to training till the next morning, so that is really difficult," she said.

"He's just starting to say the word 'rugby' so if he is asked where I am, he just says 'rugby'. It's going to be a wonderful moment when the girls walk out today alongside their mascots and I for one think I will be very emotional with Jacob in my arms - it is going to mean the world to me and something I won't forget for a long time."

Wales began their campaign with a shock victory over England in the opening round and followed that up with a victory against Scotland before losing to France in the last round. A victory against Ireland this afternoon would not only secure a Triple Crown for Wales, but give them an unlikely chance of championship glory next week in the final round against Italy.

Check Live Streaming (probably BBC iPLAYER)

In case anyone missed it in earlier posts

"RADIO JEM" WILL BE REPRESENTED TODAY AT

WALES WOMEN v IRELAND WOMEN

In their Six Nations Championship at St Helen's, Swansea!

I AM SO EXCITED! :-D :-D :-D :-D

Every year, alongside the seniors SIX NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP (England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy)

runs an UNDER 20s SIX NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP (these young men are terrific!) and a WOMENS SIX NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP!

TODAY ....WALES WOMEN WILL BE TAKING ON IRELAND WOMEN FOR THE TRIPLE CROWN

The Triple Crown is awarded to the team from the original Four Nations Championship -Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland (before the competition included France and Italy)

Wales Women have already beaten England and Scotland, so if they beat Ireland Women today, they win the Triple Crown! :-)

The Wales Women have only been beaten by France Women so far. I believe that they are still in with a chance of winning their Six Nations Championship too.
They only have Italy Women left to play after today's game.

WALES WOMEN v IRELAND WOMEN Kick-off 12 NOON

I know this match is being streamed live, because I heard it announced on the telly.
I AM ALMOST SURE IT IS ON BBC iPLAYER.

So if you manage to watch it...

.... if you look for a tall, blonde woman in a red coat and scarf (ok... so I know there will be loads of them!) shouting "COME ON WALES"...
..... next to a slightly embarrassed Irish man also donning a Wales Scarf...

... IT'LL BE ME! ;-) ;-) :-D :-D :-D :-D

RADIO JEM ;-) ;-) WAS REPRESENTED AT

WALES WOMEN v IRELAND WOMEN (SIX NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP)

at St Helen's, Swansea yesterday!

Didn't do them much good however :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-S :-S :-S

WALES WOMEN 0 ~ IRELAND WOMEN 20
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/31830761

Ireland Women proved too strong for Wales Women on that day, but they put up a good fight, despite what the score suggests however!!!

It was a very interesting experience! ;-)

Not far away from us in the stands was Ex Wales International Rugby Player ROWLAND PHILLIPS, who I recognised straight away from his presenting work on "JONATHAN" the S4C Rugby oriented chat/ comedy show.

Rowland is now coaching the LONDON WELSH Rugby Union Team.

SO THERE WAS I, IN MY NEW RED WALES COAT AND SCARF....
...... with my IRISH OH also wearing a Wales Scarf, which he had discretely hidden under his coat ... "cos he was cold!":-P :-P :-|

We were sandwiched between an Irish family who were in the rows immediately behind us and in front of us, so I think he was playing safe! ;-) :-D :-D :-D

Me singing along with the Irish Rugby Anthem "IRELAND'S CALL" must have confused that Irish family, and the Irish Women's team facing straight toward us!
... no one can accuse me of not being a good sport! ;-) ;-) :-D :-D...

Not to mention confusing the Welsh supporters alongside me! .....
.... Especially when I followed up with a rousing "MAE HEN WLAD FY NHADAU"! :-D :-D

There was no doubt as to who I was supporting once the game got going however! "GO ON WALES", "STOP HER!", "DRIVE WALES"... and phrases to that effect escaped my lips rather loudly...
......to counteract the Irishman behind shouting for the Irish Women with his Belfast brogue!

Then my OH started encouraging the Ireland women who were nearing Wales Tryline! :-0 :-0
... to which I accused him of "HEDGING HIS BETS" and " BEING DISLOYAL TO HIS WELSH SCARF!!" :-| :-| :-D :-D :-D

Then came the "AGGIE AGGIE AGGIE" Well of course I had to shout "OY, OY, OY" to that!

So even though I was very, very, cold- despite my great Wales Coat :-S
IT WAS GOOD FUN!

AFTER THE GAME...
...We went to the club house and had sausage and chips while Sports Celebrity Spotting!

As well as members of both participating Womens Teams, we spotted NON EVANS,
former Captain of the team, who now does Television Work including commentating at matches, and spots on Scrum V and Jonathan etc.

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/non-evans-joins-s4c-womens-7588205

I also saw RUPERT MOON- a former Wales International Rugby Union Player who is married to Welsh Actress DEBBIE JONES (Rhian Haf Harries on Pobol Y Cwm)

SO ALL IN ALL ..... IT WAS A VERY ENTERTAINING DAY!

So where do Wales sit on The Women's Table to date?

WOMENS SIX NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP TABLE
