Have just come across 1851 census for Berwick on Tweed where the birthplaces for everyone over 4 pages have been transcribed as Berlin.
I appreciate that transcribing is not an easy task & if the people had been living in another part of the country I could perhaps have understood it, but the transcriber was transcribing Berwick & the original was reasonably clear.
I started to amend a few until I realised the error had carried on for several pages, so I have now sent a message to Ancestry.
