DEMORALISATION OF DERBYSHIRE HOSPITAL STAFF

A news item being trailed on our local radio station today, is about the downgrading of hospital staff, (non medical), to make a saving of 20 million pounds next year. This will result in their wages being lowered and also their standard of living. These are the thankless jobs, that few of us would put our hands up for, and they are already on low wages.
Well, do they ever ask us the patients what we feel about the service we receive from the people involved. NO,NO, they never do.
As a regular patient in our new super duper hospital in Derby, only last weekend for four days, yet again, I watch these lower paid people going about their business. I am impressed by them, given the resources they have to work with. Only on Tuesday as I prepared to come home, the curtains on the bay that I was in, were drawn, as a dead person was taken away from the main ward further up the corridor. I often wonder what the people performing this task go home and tell their families over the dinner table at the end of their working day.
Yes I am Insensed (sp), you bet I am. For every pen pusher taking a wage out of the pot, they could either increase the wage of the lesser paid, or employ others to lighten their load.
As a regular user of the services provide by this hospital, I for one do not want to see any change in the service I receive, only one for the better.
Just letting off steam, and hope I make sense
