Hi Daff,

My doctor has said that I can have a bone marrow transplant but he wants to go with the medication first, eg if current meds no longer worker changing to another one. As you would know it is an emotional rollercoaster for me at the moment, mostly I am fine but just the stupidest things will upset me like ads on the telly. I used to laugh at my mother for crying at tv programs, now I am doing that same thing LOL.

I am a bit worried about my blood test though. The biopsy I had taken at the colposcopy clinic bled for nearly 2wks, only spotting every day but still bleeding then that finished and I went straight onto monthlies passing a cyst. I feel like I am going to run out of blood soon hahaha : )

Have been having a lot of headaches, some have been severe but mostly they are bearable.

We'll both hold each others hand and we will get through this. If I was near you I would come and visit and give you a hug.

I hope Puss's scan goes ok, and her Sdad's treatment.

Annie, chin up, hun.... I'll hold your hand if you hold mine!

Mine is the bone marrow biopsy result... but as I am feeling better every day, and my bloods on Friday were better (except for those darned platelets, lol}... so I am bruising and bleeding a fair bit, gums and nose, and the petechiae are out in force... but I am otherwise doing ok. So I am fairly sure that it was infection not relapse. Well, now I am chilled... I expect I shall have butterflies on Monday. I have an appointment fixed up already with the transplant specialist... just in case, but I am quite chilled now. lol

I need to remind myself... can you have a transplant, or do you have to wait for a specific stage? Our bloods are always tested within about 1 1/2 hours, max... we are very lucky, but it is why we spend so much time waiting there, lol

Let me know what your bloods are.... and take care ((((hugs)))))

Love

Daff xxxxx

Finally got my access back, am so sad to read that puss has left GR. A real shame and I will miss chatting to her on here.

Daff, have got everything crossed for you. Hope everything is ok.

I had my blood test last week. Am a bit worried as it is possibly being sent to a different lab as the lab it usually goes to is on strike. Have got my appt at the hospital next thursday and depending on the results of the blood test may have to have bone marrow test.

Hope everyone is ok. Am pleased to be back online : )

Jean, yes, she has left GR and deleted her account. I am not sure, but I have a feeling she was targeted by some of the unpleasantness a couple of nights ago, and has had enough.

Does anyone know if it is true that Puss has left the boards and GR? Someone tried to pm her today and was given the old web page has expired routine. I shall be sorry if she has, it sounded as if she could do with our support.

I am sorry that you have had the MS diagnosis confirmed, which form do you have? As I said in my email to you at the beginning of the year without knowing that it's hard to offer help.

I know there is the Hamer Centre (I think that's it) I am sure they'll offer you all the support you need.

It sounds as though the surrounding blood vessels have been invaded by the tumour... or may have been.... I can tell you categorically that if he has a Leukaemia the treatment is totally different, and he would know about it... it isn't treated by a cancer doc for a start off... he'd have had a referral to the Haemotologist...

It still sounds as though he has a rough ride ahead, bless him...58% sounds ok.... to me, lol... I still haven't reached that! Every day brings me closer....

Right.... off to bed now myself... Granddaughter has gone off to sleep at last.... she was being a kangaroo earlier, and bouncing all over the upstairs.....

Puss.... was it the *blood vessels* rather than the *blood* as that is totally different.... And have they given you a series of numbers regarding the stage his cancer is at?

I can look it all up for you, if you want pm me.... but it won't be until tomorrow, as I am totally whacked tonight.

Take care

thanks daff, i wonder because they said the type of cancer he started with is rare and aggressive means any 2ndrys and future tumours are aggressive , he is in shock and keeps talking so i keep listning but my poor mum is falling to bits, i took them a massive basket of fruit the other day and told him to eat drink and everything with broccoli and tomatoe sauce but not together , i last checked the prognosis it was at 58%, im wondering if its stage 3 now, i coulkdnt go to last appointment was stuck in bed, which im off to now xxxxx goodnight all xx

MrDaff Report 23 Jul 2010 20:57

Thanks Puss... I'll be fine, I can feel it in me waters.

Cancers of the blood, as far as I am aware, would be one of the Leukaemias...

I am almost certain that there are no other types... there are four main ones, with *sub divisions* in each

Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (mine) very aggressive, and comes on quickly

Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia, which is slower, often goes undiagnosed for many years,

Acute Lymphatic Leukaemia again very aggressive and comes on quickly

Chronic Lymphatic Leukaemia, which is slower, and can go undiagnosed for a long time too... I don't know much about the Lymphatics, just the basics... I have studied the Myeloids a lot more because it relates to me.

Other than that, I don't know....

Sorry I can't give you any more information than that.

Thanks Sue, mwah!!... actually, my consultant has just telephoned me... his wife will kill him, he is supposed to be going home early as he has a two week family holiday planned, lol

He has been and had a good look at my samples for himself... he phoned to let me know he could find no sign of any blasts whatsover, which is excellent, as some could be expected to seep out.... but warned me that this is not a full guarantee... but it increases the probability that there are no blasts in my marrow. The biopsies will hopefully confirm that.... it is the only way it can be confirmed. It is still a niggle in the back of your mind though.

So, I am feeling a lot better than when I left the house this morning...

Take care
