I agree Jean.
Velindre have been absolutely fabulous with my hubby. Nothing is too much trouble for them and every member of staff is so lovely. When hubby was in our local hospital 2 weeks ago they were phoning me to see how he was.

I have nothing but praise for them. <3

Jean (Monmouth) Report 26 Mar 2012 10:19

Puss, as well as i can be, thanks for asking. A bit low here because OH is no longer fit to drive.
Good to hear Velindre is as good as ever. When i was in there the Princess Margaret ward was still new, and no one had used the showers until me. I stood there in the nuddy, and the tiles around me fell off! I didnt know how to tell the sister!

Hi Jean sorry to hear that it must be awfull after being mobile for years, i never learned to drive, and have relied on partners cars, when i met jon 10 yrs ago, he said they dont need people like me on the roads joking,

i had a few lessons but i lost confidence when my driving instructer had a nervous breakdown, they promised it was nothing to do with me

she had talked about having problems and cried on one occasion.

i did nearly crash into a 6ft fence i accellerated instead of breaking :-(

Jean (Monmouth) Report 26 Mar 2012 19:27

Puss, the army ambulance drivers I was posted with tried to teach me to drive, but I put their ambulance through a fence and they spent the rest of the weekend getting the dents out, so they could stay out of trouble! I can ride a motor bike though, but am told my health is not good enough for me to be exposed to the cold that much.

lorraineakapuss Report 26 Mar 2012 19:45

Jean thats funny, wow motor bikes now they scare me.

i would imagine it to be cold, i used to walk for miles like others probably work all day and on your feet.

miss walking, i can manage the shops and back with my walker because if im to bad i can sit on it. xx

Hi Jean.
It was Princess Margret ward that my hubby was on too. The nursing staff on there are fabulous.
Really funny about the tiles falling off in the shower.

when my dad was in the hospice, a few days before he died, frank spencer as he called him, put his arms up and stretch on the canopy bars that were suspended from the ceiling, dad was heavily sedated but was aware of what happened next and he grinned as i said omg OH has pulled the railing down.

he picked it up and placed it outside bt the fire escape and we push the dust particles under his bed.

because we saw him grin it really lifted our spirits, we intended to tell the staff once we had stopped laughing

reason it was so funny to us was OH is a complete damage it yourself instead of do it yourself

it gets to the point when he can leave your nerves bad

he gets electric shocks, latest one was where he was doing something with the phone line, he skinned the lead which left bare wires in his mouth but not for long he he :-0

before dad was in hospital, as soon as we entered his living room he would say to OH please dont touch anything sit down please sit down it was hilarious.

since he sadly died OH carries on, he has broke mums pedal bin twice smashe one of hher mugs out of a set she:d collected

he is the same at home, i often hear a crash of some kind then a very norty word

but i love and cherish every day i have him.

sadley my uncle up north is getting worse his condition is terminal, im hoping to go up in june, i hope i get to see him.

i have a week of appointments soon to sort me out lol

how are you all feeling xxxx love lorraine xx

Alyson. Report 9 Apr 2012 22:18

Hi Lorraine.
I hope that your treatment if any will be very minimall. Hope all will be sorted before your holiday.
Good Luck <3

Things are going OK here at the moment. Mum is getting stronger and stronger. Just waiting to see what the doctor will say tomorrow.
Hubby has not been too bad over the past few days. Taking one day at a time with him. Disappointed that he will not be able to eat or drink anything at our daughters wedding but his wellbeing has to come first. He is allowed to make his speech but has to keep it brief. Our daughter is happy with that because hubby loves the microphone Lol.

Alyson. Report 6 May 2012 11:43

Hi Everyone.
Sorry i have taken a while to get back to you all. I have been so busy sorting out last minute preperations for my daughters wedding.
Hubby had his tests and the doctor thinks it is just a bit of swelling on a lymph node but does not want to do anything else until hubby has his PET scan which is within the next few weeks. That should tell us if there is any cancer left there. Fngers crossed for a positive outcome.
Thankyou ALL for your thoughts.

I am seeing the Neurologist in a couple of says and having a ct scan before I see him. I am also having a ct scan to see why my memory has vanished, can't remember a thing.

Recieved your PM Lorraine...
Caz... I hope that all goes well with your scan and you get positive news.
The wedding was very very stressful but was worth it. My daughter looked abolutely stunning in her wedding dress and the day went off great. Above all it stayed dry.
