LilyL Report 6 Oct 2011 17:20

I haven't been on this thread for ages as we have been moving house!! The whole experience was very stressful, not helped by an unpleasant neighbour whose venom we had endured for 2 1/2 years. The relief to get away from them is immense. OH has been transfered from his former hospital to one closer to where we now live, his next appointment is in January. The last PSA test in July) was undetectable, so we are still very positive for a long term good result. Incontinence has improved a lot, impotence, not so good, but we are both in our late 60's early 70's, and have been together for 50 years, so we are able to take it pretty much in our stride!!! Annie, I'm so sorry to hear of your difficulties. Like the others I feel you perhaps need to chat to your GP, although it's easier said than done especially when you are feeling down and in pain. This bloody disease is such a bummer, it really makes me so angry it's so cruel and heartless.

Thinking of all on here who is suffering from this terrible disease.
Take care xx

Jean (Monmouth) Report 8 Oct 2011 19:37

Just dropped in again. Annie NZ, what is causing the bone pain. Is it maybe an unrelated disease you are suffering from? When i was put on some medication that I thought didnt suit me, I found it worked to say that I wasnt going to take it anymore. As they want you to get well and not spoil the statisitics, another way out will be found. You know your own body best.
I am no longer having mammograms as it is ten years since I had the mastectomy and I am still clear. Can ask to have it done when the travelling x-ray machine comes round every three years.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 8 Oct 2011 21:27

Hi Jean

I'm surprised to ehar that they stop it for you after 10 years.

I had my first mastectomy in 1995, and have had a mammogram every year since ................... but here they NEVER let you stop. At least not until you get too old and decrepit to get to the clinic! Also, I am not allowed ever again to attend the screening clinic as I have had cancer once.

And that is a good job, as this latest cancer was found by a mammogram showing something, and the techies deciding to send me for follow-up. That follow-up found the cancer cells .... which was not really what they were expecting!

Please do be sure to go to the screening clinic

LilyL Report 24 Jan 2012 16:45

Hi Everyone! Well, we have settled well into our new home and the relief not to be under 'neighbour' stress is immense!! Our nearest ones here are across a field opposite our bungalow, the others are some distance too, so at least we are safe on that front!! The news on the Cancer front is positive. OH has been for his yearly checkup and all is well, which of course makes us realise how lucky we have been so far. The incontinence is much improved, however some days are better than others, so musn't be too blase! impotence? well, much the same, but we're not too bothered, being well is SO much more important. However, I had to have a further check following a routine mamogramme which luckily was nothing to worry about - not a good week as you can imagine! Annie NZ, have been thinking about you and hoping that things have improved for you. To everyone who is being 'persecuted' by this vile disease, positive thoughts and all good wishes from ME. xx

hello lizines, glad your Free from unwanted stress, some people make me so annoyed, a day in our shoes would be enough to maybe realize how vile they are being.

moving home is so stressful too so pat yourself on the back for coping with so much, I've moved a lot some times for work , but we've just had our home adapted so now i don't need to move, i was packed and ready to go but circumstances stopped that, but it gave me a chance to get a cleaner in.
I have another marker test tomorrow, then surgery in about 2 weeks. does anyone know if you can have something like a epidural so i can stay awake, i have my reasons lol, and had cesareans that way, i guess if the need to take the womb they could knock me out quick !! xx

LilyL Report 24 Jan 2012 17:38

Puss n daughter. Really nice to hear from you, as you say, if our neighbours had had one day of cancer stress, then they might think twice before starting ridiculous disputes out of nothing!! Will be thinking of you tomorrow and also in two weeks; as for an epidural,I simply don't know, would be worth asking your GP though as it would save all that after op anaesthetic sickness and feeling so wretched. Do keep in touch. xx

lorraineakapuss Report 24 Jan 2012 18:30

I will do liz and thank you xx

we are very lucky our neighbour works away most of the time, and when he is home he always asks if we are OK, we tend to keep ourselves to ourselves these days, and work colleagues and fair weather friends soon disappear when you cant meet them for a drink etc,i have a good friend i go to church with, and a neighbour across the road who i help do a charity stall for greyhounds rescue, apart from that i have a lovely husband who really looks after me, and i'm also very lucky to have my mum.

My dad died from cancer 16 months ago, due to the hospital failing to read the result of his biopsy, they botched a operation up leading to a unnecessary amputation, whilst he was still alive he instructed a solicitor to sue for damages, he died in the Sep 2010, and mum was able to carry the case on, the sad fact is if that consultant has left that hospital he may never know what he has done, the whole idea was to get him reprimanded or sacked, i just hope where he is his bosses get to know and watch him so this doesn't happen to anyone else, but sadly it probably will, the hours they have to do, anyway enough of me, i'm going to munch on my high fat crisps and enjoy them, if you like marks and spe***** sea salt and balsamic vinegar x :-D

Lorraine i'm sorry if you have issues re your health
but don't you think that by posting in an account that your daughter has access to you're kind of running the risk of your family finding out whatever it is you don't want them to know?

Whatever...I do hope you get good news.

For my own part...My lovely aunt is battling cancer of the breast at the moment and I'm SICK of this cr***y disease...have lost too many over the years.

My best wishes and support to anyone who is battling this <3
