good evening everyone. today i just want to share a very special day with you all.in 2003 my daughter was diagnosed with a rare cancer called neuroblastoma stage 4. she was 5 1/2 yrs old. the survival rate is 3/10 past 5 years.

well today my little miracle has turned 13 and become a normal teenager, something my family thought they would never see. all through her year in hospital, she never complained, remained stubborn and strong willed and i never gave up hope but always stayed positive.

to anybody out there with a child suffering with cancer, my heart goes out to you. but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, sometimes its a long tunnel, but worth the wait.

puss how are things today, have been thinking a bout you this morning, you kept coming into my thoughts a lot.

take care

S adly i had som terrible news today my dad has 3/6 months left chemo is not an option and he is DNR should he have heart failure, because the calcim levels have shot back up he is phoning mum telling her there is cats and dogs in his room and he is ringing the police, he is now telling a nurse to bring bricks in (he used to be a bricky), they have moved his phone, mum is staying with him tomorrow then they are moving him to hospice nearer, having to tell my mum her 2nd husband is dying is the worst thing i have ever done x

One thing i would certainly do in the future is dig my heals in harder god forbid anyone close to me going through this cruel torturist illness, i would demand to speak with consultants and not be fobbed of by comments that he is off the ward on holiday or day off, other people have told me how they skirt through the issue, we were told in april this year my dad was having a currative op, not only was his dignity stripped away he really only had 6 to 9 months, they new, dont be fobbed off xxxxx

Oh Puss I am so so sorry to hear your news. You must be so angry with the consultants fobbing you off for so long. You all must be beside yourselves with grief right now knowing that the dr's should have done something quite some time ago that may have made a difference. My thoughts are with you all. I can only try and imagine how you must be feeling.

Puss, sorry to hear you are not well yourself, hope it soon goes away, probably stress caused.
May I add another old saying. You are not dead until you have stopped breathing. These things can only be guessed at, some people seem to feed on the pain relief treament and last longer.

I haven't read this for awhile, once it was up and running I wasn't needed.

I would like to add though for families it's never going to be easy to watch your love ones die or to let them go.

When you have been given a short time you have to hope for the least, it's only fair to your loved ones to let them go as quickly as can be.

When you have a time limit keep a memory box ..this is different to the memories of old. The 2 of you renew old memories and find out what they meant to the other. Store all this in the 'box'
Each day say I love you, if you can't do it in person or on the phone write it down and send the letter. Never lose touch.

Remember they may be in a 'unconcious' but our loved ones may be able to hear, so talk to them. Don't be afraid when you cry, your tears show how much you care, but don't cry to often be strong for them.

The most important thing after letting them know you care is letting them know you are strong, you will miss them but they can let go.

After

Cry all you want, but remember that memory box and take a memory out that makes you smile.

and remember they loved you also and wouldn't want you to be sad.

I know it's **** but that's my take on it all and that is how my great aunt Nellie told me to see her death when I was 10/11 and that's how I've got through others.
ps I still have the memory box aunt nellie and me made in our minds.

Hope it helps some

Hi Puss, so sorry to hear your dads time is shorter than they told you it would be. I hope you have said all the things you want to say to him, as I believe he will hear you. Thats what I did with my father in law. Sadly I never had the chance with my mum. I am thinking of you so much and pray your dads last days are peaceful for him.
All my love to you all

Puss, what Sylvia and Uzzi said is right, about talking to your stepdad, talk about happy times even if you think he is not hearing you, he will be. I know my mum heard me, and my brother doing that and letting her know we would be alright and that she could let go.

I hope you and family will find some comfort in the days ahead,

Rose xx
