Morning all,

Very overcast here and when I went out to the bin it was chilly ,we're off to the tip later with some garden rubbish and then I need to call into Aldi as they have the memory foam mattresses in again for dogs and I want to get another one for max then I will have a spare one .

Mel that was a big daddy .one legs on your wall ,I'm not keen on them to much like a spider .
I keep meaning to say the new lot of All creatures starts tonight on channel five at 9 o'clock .

You'll be on your way now Vera ,I hope you enjoy your trip to Windsor today and the weather is good for you .

Morning all,

Cloudy and dull here tis morning and pc says 12 degrees and cloudy.

I hope Vera has a nice day out today and enjoys Windsor. That was the last school trip when I was in the last year at school.

Docs today for more needles and I am not sure when BIL is coming this week.

Slept well and had a funny dream about actually reaching my toenails to cut them easily. How strange is that??? and they were painted so who did that? Oh never liked painted nails on your feet or your hands.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are doing.

Evening all

It's been a nice day today but with a bit of a chilly wind. I hope you have all had decent weather.

It sounds as though your drive has come up a treat AnnG.

I know what you mean about putting the bins out the night before collection, Mel. Ours have to be out by 6.30 am on Wednesday morning so we put them out Tuesday evening. OH woke about 6.30 this morning and suddenly realised he'd forgotten to put them out so he quickly got dressed and tried to take them out without waking the neighbours. We have to take them down the road and put them on the rec. at the bottom and they make such a racket as they are wheeled down the road - double the noise this morning as the recycling bin and the garden bin had to go out.

I need to get to grips with the bus time tables round here. I thought there was a no. 91 bus at 10.15 so I got to the bus stop about 10.10. After a few minutes other people arrived and 5 of us were waiting. The 91 bus didn't turn up :-| but at 10.30 a no. 84 arrived. I didn't know an 84 existed round here, I've never seen one before but we all got on it and it took us to town. By now I was running late and only had 40 minutes before I had to get the bus back or be stuck in town till 1.30 so I had to really whizz around. I dashed to the chemist's and got my prescription, flew into the bank and sorted out my business there, then rushed down to Waitrose and got some bits of shopping and back to the bus station with 5 minutes to spare.

When I got home I checked the timetables online. They're not easy to follow but as far as I can make out the 84 bus only operates Monday to Friday and there is the one I caught and one just after 5 in the evening and that's it. The 91 should have arrived at 10.21 (but didn't) and the 84 should arrive at 10.24. Wouldn't you think that with one bus only running twice a day and the other only running every 2 hours the powers that be could have arranged a bigger gap between them than 3 minutes. The chances are if you miss one, you are going to miss both.

The rest of the day has been quite busy too. I washed towels, did some tidying up, made a chicken casserole for our dinner tonight, got our bits ready for our trip to Windsor tomorrow as I won't have time to faff around in the morning, and showered and washed my hair. By the time we had eaten and cleared up the evening was half gone.

The car people haven't rung today as they promised and we're out all tomorrow so OH will be on to them first thing on Friday to find out when we are getting our car back. They said it would be 2 weeks and it's 2 weeks tomorrow that OH took it in so I hope they have nearly finished with it.

It's an early start for us tomorrow as the taxi is booked for 8.10 am so I might be going to bed soon. I'll read for a while and then settle down and hope for a decent night's sleep.

I have not seen them Mel they were possibly the other side of the village although I don't take much notice of helicopters as they are to and fro all day here, some louder than others such as the 'Wokka wokka (Chinook.)

My typing is'nt coming out again. That should have been done the post van and fed the chickens and now I need to wash the car as its going green on the bonnet where I have to drive thro9ugh the dirty farm.

Anyway I have had a very noisy helecopter come over many times and a jet which actually did a somersault. They were so loud it shook the house and hurt my ears. I wonder if Anng has had them too?

Evening all,

It's been a much fresher day with a little bit of sun this afternoon ,I didn't hang the bedding out on the line until nearly lunch time as we went shopping but after lunch there were so many black looking clouds that I thought I'm not risking a soaking like
Vera got yesterday so I got it all in ,it was nearly dry though so I put it on the airer in the back bedroom.
Last night we had quite a storm, just as I was closing the bedroom curtains there was an almighty flash and a huge crash of thunder ,made me jump I can tell you .
It was flashing away for nearly an hour but I didn't hear much .

You think you have clutter Anng. I have enough for all the girls here on the thread and anyone else besides.

I was going to say this morning that the wind here is very keen and I see you lot seem to have it too. its only 13 degrees here and oc says heavy rain. e have had showers all morning on and off and blue sky with white clouds.

I have just seen the Long Tailed Tits onthe bird feeder for the first time since the s[pring. I have heard them in the garden and seen them flit between the trees but this is the first time they have been on the feeder. I must make sure its topped up now as I love watching them, they always seem to have a lookout at the top of the box hedge.

The weather was just right for the men pressure washing the drive and front of house. It took them about two and a half hours. Not cheap at £450. but that includes the special sand stuff that stops the weeds and sea;s the cracks between the bricks. It looks also much better already but it will look good when the loose sand has blown away or got washed away by rain. It is 17 degrees here, has been sunny with some cloud but a cold wind as well. I have just walked down to take some books to Irene and it was quite chilly walking back against the wind.
I have also changed the bed and washed the bedding and balanced the monthly accounts including the two credit cards. Actually this time it was two months as I was away for the three weeks that overlapped the end of August. So that was two jobs got out of the way while the men were here. Next job is to tidy my craft room but that gets done in short bursts as it is not a nice job, so much clutter.

SuffolkVera Report 3 Oct 2023 15:12

We had a lot of rain during the night and it was so muggy. I kept throwing the cover off and pulling it back over me, then throwing it off again. Today is dry and quite sunny but a bit blowy. There's a real nip in the wind as well.

Our neighbourhood squirrel knows it's autumn now. We watch him run along our fence and over into our neighbour next door but he must go beyond hers as a couple of minutes later he runs back with a walnut and the neighbour hasn't got a walnut tree. The squirrel frightened the life out of OH a couple of days ago. OH bent quite low over a flower bed to look at something when the squirrel suddenly leapt up right in front of his face. Mr (or maybe Mrs) Squirrel had been burying a walnut behind a clump of asters. It certainly made OH jump.

Today we walked to the Co-op, got a bit of shopping and walked back. We're getting in practice for when we eventually give up the car, except by then we probably won't be capable of walking so far, particularly with heavy shopping. Being without the car certainly makes you do a bit more forward planning. I have to pick up my scripts tomorrow and I've been working out that if I get the 10.15 bus I might just have time to walk from the bus station through town to the chemist I use, dash from there to the bank, pop to a shop and be back at the bus station in time for the 11.20 bus back. Miss it and I will have to walk or wait till the 1.30 bus. On Thursday we are on a coach trip to Windsor which goes from the bus station at 8.30 am and they do leave promptly. There is a bus at 8.15 which will just make it in time as long as the bus isn't late, but they are a bit unreliable so we have had to opt for a taxi and we had trouble booking that as a lot of the taxi firms are involved with school runs.

I did all the ironing this morning as well and now OH is washing the floors for me. A lot of the downstairs is tiled and he'll probably do the utility, the kitchen and the hall which is quite a big area. If I'm lucky he'll remember to do the downstairs loo as well but he does sometimes forget that. I doubt if he'll bother with the conservatory but that doesn't matter. I'm just pleased to get the kitchen bit done as that's the bit that gets dirtiest.

It's a Ladies Club meeting tonight. It's fish and chips and karaoke which is quite a change from some of the serious speakers we get. I didn't order any fish and chips as I'm not a big fan so I'll take myself a couple of biscuits or something to nibble while everyone's eating. I certainly won't be doing a karaoke turn!! But I didn't go last month so I feel I ought to at least turn up.

The man next door came home from hospital last night so I am now going to ring his wife and see if she is coming to Ladies Club. I suspect she won't come but I must at least offer to knock for her.

I hope you are all having nice weather. Enjoy the rest of the day.

Vera that must have been lovely to see the actual wedding ceremony and then all the speeches and photos ,I was only saying to Colin the other day we haven't seen any weddings at the church this year at all ,I used to look out the kitchen window and see the little bridesmaids and the wedding cars go down to the church and hear the church bells ,now they have the wedding service and reception all in the one venue.

Raining here now and I'm sure I heard thunder just before we had tea tonight ,should be a bit fresher the next couple of days then heating up again .
Usually by the middle or end of September we've lit the fire for the evening or had the heating on .

Lots of coupons can only be spent in store Mel and I think I’ve seen a couple that have said online only.

I went out about 2.30 pm to do a bit of gardening and I was only out for about 10 minutes before the rain came down and I had to drop my secateurs and bucket and rush to get the washing in. There was a lot of washing so by the time I got it in I was good and wet. It wasn’t quite as dry as I hoped so half of it got finished in the tumble dryer and the rest is hanging around the house.

There were an unbelievable number of wedding photos and there were often several nearly identical ones. I think these professional photographers just keep snapping away. The video was lovely as it included the ceremony itself and all the speeches at the reception with other bits and bobs in between. It ran for about an hour and a quarter and all the speeches were both funny and moving. I had a tear in my eye once or twice.

Monday’s meal is usually left overs from Sunday’s roast but yesterday we had lamb shanks so there were no leftovers. So I’ve taken my last helping of soup from the freezer and we’ll follow it with a veggie quiche and a small salad. That’ll be an easy dinner but I’d better get more soup made when I’ve got time.

It’s been really dark here for the last hour and now I can hear thunder and it’s getting closer. I hope it’s nicer wherever you are.

I have just read the coupon and it excludes online shopping. How silly.
