You crept in before my post hit the thread Vera. This house is still cold even now the heating is on but it was without heat for 13 days. We are all wrapped up.

No Ann it was'nt icy but he must havemisjudged he distance . I don't think the white marks that are left behind will ever come out but she is 20 years old and I am not really worried about it as it will soon be covered in muck off the roads. At least its not dented but peopl;e may think I have backed into something which I hav'nt.

Glad you're home safe and sound and still have company but when they go you are bound to feel lonely for a while. Just come on here and natter thats what we are here for, each other. :-D

Hello all. We had a good run with very heavy traffic, lots of lorries and a long stretch of 50mph for roadworks that should have finished last year on the M6. Got home at 1pm. Got some stuff unpacked and Oliver came and activated the boiler again. He doesn’t knoe why it went off so I have to monitor it. If it happens again he will have to have a rethink of what could cause it. Apparently it is a puzzle as it started first time he switched off and on again. It often takes three goes before starting. I am still surrounded by Christmas decs so those will come down over the weekend.

Daughter and SiL are staying until Friday.

Goodness Mel, how did he manage to hit your car? Was it icy?

SuffolkVera Report 10 Jan 2024 17:11

Not for long Mel. I'm here but I don't really have much to say.. You seem to have been having a heck of a day with everything happening at once, including a damaged car. Thank goodness it wasn't too bad. Why did the waterboard man come if he wasn't going to do anything? The "fairy" in the glass gave me a smile.

Happy anniversary and happy New Year Gill. It's good to see you post but, gosh, you seem to be having problems as well. At least you are getting some jobs done and your bathroom is almost finished.

I hope AnnG is safely home and her boiler man has sorted out her problems.

It's been another bright, sunny and bitterly cold day. I've been busy catching up on jobs - ironing, mending, a bit of cooking, replying to some emails and so on. Nothing interesting at all.

I need to take my glasses back for a bit more adjusting as one side is digging in the side of my head. I think that will have to be on Friday now. I've also had an email from the hospital giving me another eye appointment on 23rd January. At least they've given me a bit of notice this time. I often get a phone call asking me to come the following day. I think they often slot me in where there's a cancellation. I keep hoping the doctor will discharge me but they seem to want to hang on to me. I'm pleased really that they seem to take good care of their patients when you hear of the problems other people have just getting an appointment.

I'm going downstairs now for a warm-up. We haven't got the heating on upstairs and I'm sitting at the computer with a big fluffy dressing gown over my clothes but my hands are frozen.

Gosh what a morning I have had and not got anything much done. Firstly I had an offer on something on Ebay so I wraped them all up and went to the post van and posted it as she had paid me.

Came home and started to wash up and Richard came drove straight into the back of my car on the drivers side corner and pushe dthe car forwards reversed a bit and did it again. I flew out and he had got out of his car and was looking at the cars. He then got back in his car and reversed and had'nt actually dented my car but took a lot of the paint off. He had more on hiss car than I had on mine. He said he would go and get some T Cut and polish it out so I gave him mine and two dusters and some bounty roll. I now have a very clean patch on the back of my car still with some some white scratches which I think is the undercoat of my car it being metalic.

While he was here the postman came and could'nt turn round as Richard's car was parked right across my road so he gave my post to Richard and backed up to get out.

Then while he was still polishing my car the waterboard man came so we were all talking out the front. He had'nt come to do any work so I still have no water pressure.

I just managed to get the washing up done while Richard was still here and then the phone rang again when he left and it was the waterboard man ringing me to give me the meter reading I asked him for.

Now I have just sat down and tried to get this antivirus thing sorted on the pc with no luck they want to do it on my email address SIL put on my phone and I don't use that as I don't understand it. :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S

Morning all,

Nice to see you post Gill and Happy Anniversary and New Year.

Well todays the day the waterboard are supposed to come and sort out my low flow of water but I hav'nt heard anything so fr today.

Its a nice bright morning with sunshine and blue sky but there is also a frost but not as thick as it has been probably because its been dry over the last few days.

Hope you find a bath panel today Gill and then thats one room finished and you can concentrate on the kitchen.

Hope Anng has a safe and easy journey home today do take care and that you can get the heating sorted out. You really need it in this weather.

I had better get on as I need to get my hair up just incase they turn up.

Hi all, so sorry I haven't been on here for ages I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. Happy new year to you all. <3 <3

As you can see it's very late, or early depending on which way you look at it ;-)

I've had no end of problems with my emails, first of all I couldn't remember my passwords and couldn't find the book I'd written them in. Well I finally found the book but for some reason neither of my email accounts would except the passwords. I was starting to get really upset as I thought my subs had run out on Genes and needed to gain access to one of my accounts to pay.

Well tonight I thought I'd try again and still I couldn't get onto the account to pay my subs and was asked to put a code in that they'd sent to my other email account. I couldn't get onto that one either so couldn't get the code. I kept trying and in the end I managed to get the code which I used for the account I needed, only to find out the email wasn't there.

By now I'm almost in tears as this has been going on for quite some time, so I thought I'd see if I could get onto Genes, not expecting to but hay ho I got on here. I checked my messages as sometimes Genes send me a reminder to pay my subs but there was no message. I thought I was going to have access to Genes for free lol, but when I checked my account I'd got the renewal date wrong and it's tomorrow it's due and not only that it renews automatically. I feel so silly now but also relieved as I thought at one point that I might not be able to ever get back on here.

So again I'm so sorry I've not been on the thread for ages, but hopefully there shouldn't be any further problems.

I think the problems with my email accounts is down to me not using them for over a year and they just wanted to make sure it was me trying to access them.

OH has a week off work so we're hoping to finish what we can on our kitchen, it's been very slow going as he only had one a day a week off where he wasn't in bed off nights but we're almost there. Once we've finished making the last unit we'll look for some worktops then see if we can find a plumber and carpenter to put the worktops in and replace the old sink for the new one.

We finally had our bathroom flooring put down two days ago and it makes such a difference. We're hoping to sort out the bath panels tomorrow then that room will be finished. So at the moment we're splitting our time between the bathroom and kitchen.

It's our wedding anniversary today so I'm not sure if we'll go out or do the bath panel today. We'll see how cold it is when we get up.

Well, I'd better go to bed now the problem with the emails has been sorted. I've also got some messages on here to read when I'm not so tired.

Safe journey home AnnG

I'll try and get back on here later if OH and I don't go out to celebrate.

Evening all,

It's been a nice sunny day so we got all the wood is stacked away .
Our garage man came and collected the car as it needs a new alternater so hopefully we'll have it back tomorrow.

Ann I had to smile at the thought of your OH in and out of bed and the Benny Hill music came to mind :-D hope tomorrow you can enjoy a lay in .

Safe journey home tomorrow Anng, hope the boiler man gets your heating going for you when you get home .

Whoo Vera thought I'd never get to the end of the post lol but nice to see a few smiles at the end .
That's sad you couldn't see the live service for your friend things always play up just when you need it but hopefully it was recorded OK and you can watch it later.

Mel thats good you now have your teeth back ,I hate it when the suns low at this time of the year and it's even worse when the roads are wet .

How on earth did that happen and where did all those smiley faces at the end come from? I’ve tried to edit it to get rid of all the space but nothing I do seems to make any difference

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Jan 2024 16:20

Well I am back with my true teeth all mended but in mending them they must have [put more plastic on the roof and filed down the two middle teeth which are now rough and my tongue keeps finding them if you know what I mean. The sun being so low in the sky was awful on the way home from Torrington.

What a shame you could'nt watch the funeral at the time and now you have to see it later. Its not the same is it?

All packed then and ready for the home drive tomorrow morning. Hope you have a safe and good journey home and the house is'nt too cold when you get there.

Just having a cuppa and a choc eclair. I always brought them home from shopping on a Tuesday when I went to Bideford.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 9 Jan 2024 15:15

Safe journey back tomorrow AnnG. I hope your house isn't too cold when you arrive back and that your boiler man can get everything going quickly for you.

That's good that you can get your teeth today if you want Mel.

Annx, I am sure it wasn't funny at the time but I did have to smile when I pictured your OH leaping in and out of bed yesterday morning. The window cleaner must have been the final straw. I hope your hearing tests went well.

It's a beautiful day here with blue skies and sunshine but, by golly, it's cold. There's quite a stiff breeze blowing from the north east. According to the computer it's 2 degrees and feels like -9! But the iPad is saying 3 degrees and feels like -2 which seems much more likely.

I went and got my new glasses this morning. That took a while by the time the girl had checked and adjusted 3 different pairs. Then, as I was in town on a Tuesday, I took the opportunity to stock up on some frozen stuff from Iceland while I could get 10% off.

I am feeling a little upset and disappointed at the moment. The husband of a school friend of mine sadly died on 14th December and his funeral service was at 1.45 today. We went to twin schools half a mile apart. Wife and I had gone to the girls' school and he had gone to the boys' school and I have known him since I was 14 or 15. In fact the wife pointed out to me when I spoke to her the other day that I had known him before she did. Unfortunately distance and difficulties with transport meant we couldn't attend the funeral but there was to be a live webcast. I got all geared up to watch it on the computer, got into the site OK and got the screen up but all I got was a symbol going round and round and "Reconnecting" appearing from time to time. Then that changed to "The support team are trying to fix the issue". After a while I got a message to say there was a connectivity problem at the chapel. The service was being recorded and would be put online as soon as possible. So I will be able to see it at some point but watching a recording is somehow not the same as watching it live and being there in the moment.

I think I'll go and cheer myself up with a cuppa. I'm a true English woman. My answer to everything is "a nice cup of tea", lol.

All good today then Mel. Good that you can get your teeth early if you want to.

I am all packed we want to load up the car in the garage today to save having to do it tomorrow morning in the dark and frost. So I have had to change into the clothes that I am travelling in.
A bit difficult for this old brain to have to rethink how I pack, I am so used to always doing it the same way.

Mel Fairy Godmother

The other thing is that Asda gave me 2 packs of two choc eclairs instead of the 4 pack I ordered and they are bigger.

Good morning all another lovely looking morning blue sky and sun but a very cold wind. Daughter has a diabetes check up this morning then they are picking up his youngest daughter in town and bringing her back for a while. I will have to get my stuff packed while they are out as I had expected a free day to sort things. We couldn’t see her when she should have come as she had Covid.

Its 1 degree here and so cloudy I have to have the light on. It dos'nt look windy out there yet but there is still frost. Pc is saying Partly sunny for today so we will see.......

Hope you al slept well. I had my usual wake up call from Asda at 7am to twll me the driver was on the way so I snuggled down again. When I get out in the kitchen and look up the order and track it he is 10 stops away.
