See even machines can't get it right.

It says its 12 degrees here and Iv'e not got the heating but it feels a lots colder the 12 degrees. Its probably warmer outside than it is in here. Its good in the summer as the house stays nice and cool on a hot day but you would think it felt warmer in the winter too.

Yes Mel it is just half the lawn they are gravelling. today though they are making the large planter to go by where the greenhouse was.

Vera I have the same soup maker has you I think. Have you ever had this happen before? I usually make the soup smooth and pressed the usual button but it has come out like clear soup with very tiny veg pieces in it. so not chunky but not smoothe either. It is carrot mushroom and broccoli spears. It tastes nice so I will eat it but not a smooth soup. I am assuming it couldn't work out what to do with the broccoli spears and I had cut the carrot up quite small.

Morning all,

quite sunny here this morning but pc says afternoon rain so thats something to look forward too. Its 11 degrees here and I don't really need the heating on just for some hot water.

Nothing l;anned for today but I have to go and get my scripts at the shop so may get a nice whlemeal loaf too.I really must get down to some more plaster work and painting but have been making tiny belt purses for dolls house Tudor dolls. Not finished my other little tudor man yet either so he's to finish off. Perhaps then I can settle to some more casting etc.

Its good your getting the garden all done and tidy for the spring Anng. With this new lot of gravel will you have any lawn to cut??

AnninGlos Report 25 Jan 2024 08:13

Good morning all. 9 degrees and very dark but hopefully dry. PC is warning of high winds. I have Jake coming to start on the next phase of the garden.

Vera yes I did enjoy the film. It was very well made. Not sure, because of the subject, that enjoy is the appropriate word but it gave much food for thought. How brave the people were organising it from the children's end. Amazing that the stress and the sadness at not being able to bring all the children, didn't get to Sir Nicholas Winton but he lived to 106 I think. What a lot he had to look back on.
Antony Hopkins is excellent of course in the main part.

I don't really watch Josh Widdicombe in anything but his family tree went back to Edward the 1st and he was related to Ann Boleyn. I found it so intersting I had'nt seen it before.

Hope you find some glasses you like.

Evening All,

A sunny day here and not so cold, so it made me feel a bit brighter. OH wasn't though as he woke up twice with a headache one side of his head and had to take tablets. He's been getting them for a while now, but the doc thought it was connected to his osteoporosis, but we've read they can be a kind of migraine too. He's not good with his posture when sitting or lying down, but I think he should get a second opinion if they are going to be more often or worse.

Perhaps the new cats have taken over Skinny's patch then AnnG? We haven't seen Hello Kitty that used to sit in the road here at the top for months now, so we think something must have happened to him. The film you went to see sounds good from what I've read and I hope it was warmer than our local cinema is. Not that I've been since the pandemic and it was freezing then!

You poor thing Vera having a nasty migraine and then the appointment for your eyes and not what you wanted to hear. AnnG could perhaps be right about the migraine affecting things though, especially as you felt things were stable. I'm glad you feel a bit better today, but resting your eyes from the PC is a good idea. At least you managed to get to your appointment though. Our main hospital yesterday and today has declared a major incident with up to 200 people in A&E, ten ambulances waiting outside up to 9 hours and traffic chaos in the area with people advised to avoid certain roads. One man taking his elderly mother to an appointment said it was a nightmare. OH has to go for a checkup at the dentistry department in a few weeks, so I hope it's better by then.

I only tend to watch WDYTYA if it's someone I know Mel and I've never watched anything he was in. I expect you have swapped your pile of washing for a pile of ironing now! :-)

OH has his eyetest tomorrow and I hope to decide on and get measured up for my glasses. Then I want to pop a few doors away to the Regatta store that is closing down and has a sale on. I still need a warm, but waterproof, jacket. The bathroom place that did our bathrooms before has a new catalogue out so I want to call there and get one. (I bet the prices have gone up, but their sale is still on). :-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Jan 2024 17:54

Glad your ok Vera is still getting over that nasty migraine.

Done two lots of washing and had it on the line for a while as there was a tiny breeze. Its now on the towel rail in the bathroom and some on the airers on the rads but I hav'nt had them on much today as its been a bit milder.

Pc is telling me it looks like your in Ayesbury. Daft thing I can't get it to keep Buckland Filleigh up it just gives me Beaworthy and thats miles away. Right got it to B F and now its telling me gusty winds tomorrow, that'll make a change I don't think.

SuffolkVera Report 24 Jan 2024 15:53

Mel, I know I saw it when it was first shown in 2021 but I can’t remember anything about it. Perhaps I’ll rewatch it some time.

I’d like to see the film One Life. I read about it in the papers. Did you enjoy it AnnG?

Sainsbury’s have just made a delivery. There was one sub. They subbed a tube of Steradent tablets with........wait for it........an identical tube of Steradent tablets. They also said that 2 packs of diced beef were short-dated for either today or tomorrow. No they weren’t. They were dated 5 and 6 days ahead. I think whoever picked and packed my order was having a dozy moment.

I’ve had an easy day. There was just a tiny bit of ironing so I did that and made a very hearty chicken and vegetable broth. It was very filling and very tasty. I managed a large bowlful and OH had 2 big bowlsful for lunch and we’ve decided I don’t need to cook a dinner tonight as we had plenty of meat and veg. I might just do some crumpets.

I had a bad night again. I could not settle to sleep. I wasn't helped by the wind gusting round the house and activating the motion sensors in the security lights so they were going on and off half the night. I felt very rough this morning but the feelings of nausea and not being quite with it have gone and I’m just left with a bit of pain one side of my face.

Yesterday the eye doctor said he would see me again in 4-6 weeks, then later said about 6 weeks. He must have had another think as I have already been sent a new appointment to see him in exactly 4 weeks. I certainly can’t complain about the level of service at the hospital.

My eyes are telling me I’ve been looking at a screen for long enough so it’s goodbye for now.

Morning Anng and all,

Pc is saying afternoon rain but at the mo its quite bright and a bit cooler here at 9 degrees.

Enjoy your film and lunch in M&S today Anng.

It was so windy here yesterday and last night but all looks calm this morning thank goodness.

Hope Vera had a better night last night and that the migraine has now passed. Rest up and take it easy today. <3

AnninGlos Report 24 Jan 2024 08:41

Good morning all 10 degrees here and all very calm. I don't know if storm Jocelyn passed through early this morning but it all looks fine out the window. hopefully that has passed now. Hope everyone else had no problems.
I am going into town later meeting friends for lunch in m&S and then going to the cinema to see the film One Life about the Jewish children brought to England during the war.

Didd annyone see Who Do You Tthink You Are tonight Josh Widdicombe? It was fasinateing. Iv'e not quite seen the end yet but youu must watch it on iplayer if you did'nt see the program.

O Vera I am so sorry you are hazving more problems with your eye and on top of that another migraine. I hope you feel better tomorrow and get a good nights sleep. Sending love and wishes for a better day. <3

Annx I have never thoughtt to look online at the glasses in Specsavers or boots but I just may do so now you have mentioned it. Perhaps nothing else will go wrong soon and I can think about an appointment tohave my eyes tested as its years since I had a test, well before covid.

Anng let us know when Skinny drops in again as we all want to know please.

Managed to wash the marks off the carpet I think but its not dry yet and that will tell if I need to do it again or suffer the noise of my Vax carpet cleaner. I shall have to find my earplugs. Iv'e only used it once in all the years I have had it. I bought it in Morrisons after oh broke my really old VAx that worked so well but he sucked water up in it without the bucket in it so blew the motor.

AnninGlos Report 23 Jan 2024 21:57

No mistakes I think although I may have missed some. I think you can type with one eye better than Indo with two.

So sorry about the migraine Vera, it is quite a while since you had one. Do you think it is possible that the migraine affected the eye appointment. Let us hope it is not as bad as they think and things pick up by the next test.
Ann I intend to use the air fryer most of the time to keep the oven sparkling.

No Skinny has not been here at all since I got back and I have seen two strange cats in the garden without him to protect it.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 23 Jan 2024 21:12

I am sorry I haven't posted since Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon I developed a bad migraine that knocked me out for a couple of days and I am still not feeling very good. It started with me unable to see properly and my eyes are still "iffy". Added to which I have been to the hospital this afternoon for my eye appointment and my eyes are still blurry from all the various drops.

I have managed to squint at the screen and read your posts but I hope you will forgive me for not commenting. I can't sit at the screen much longer.

I had hoped to be discharged from the eye hospital today but no such luck. In fact, just the opposite. Apparently my bad eye is slightly worse again. The doctor told me the options and expected me to decide which way to go. I told him I was happy to take his advice as he was the one with the knowledge, but I still found it hard to get a straight answer from him. I think the staff are all frightened of being sued if they get it wrong. The upshot was that between us we decided that he will monitor the eye again in 6 weeks or so and if it is getting worse he will get me an injection the same day. I am not a happy bunny as I was so sure that everything was stable now.

Must go as I can barely see at the moment. Thank goodness I can touch type though goodness knows how many mistakes I have made. I hope to be back in better form tomorrow.

Annx Report 23 Jan 2024 18:23

Evening All,

Mostly dull and wet here today and getting windy again. We saw another tree in a field with it's roots in the air when we were out today. There been a few down since New Year.

That's good your new washer is sorted now Mel. Hope you have enough detergent for all the washes you'll be doing. :-) Yes both high and low cupboards get harder to get to inside don't they. I could do with going through mine as well. I often add veg or use leftover ones with those kinds of meals too as they never seem to have much veg anyway.

I use plastic boxes in cupboards too Mandy, but I was thinking the other day that I could do with a few more, especially under the kitchen and uti sinks. Gawd knows what is in the back of those now! I got some plastic baskets for cupboard under the sink in the ensuite a few weeks ago. Yes tins are a problem too aren't they, especially when OH never seems to put them in facing forward! I will send a pic of my drawer under the desk, as I've always used all sorts of boxes to seperate things in drawers! lol. OH laughed when he first saw them, but does it himself with his drawers now!

Those dogs have powerful jaws don't they Mandy so I expect he would wreak havoc if he was loose on his own in the house. He could be bored too as you say, but I expect he likes meeting Max. The collie type dog sounds nice. You soon got through the two jigsaws, so I expect this last one will take a bit longer.

AnnG you won't want to be using your nice clean oven now. Mine needs badly doing since Christmas, but at least it does itself except the racks which have to be removed. It will warm the kitchen with the higher temperature, so I'll do it when it gets colder again. It just leaves a white ash you wipe off so not too bad. Has Skinny been round to see you since you came home?

We went to Boots this morning so OH could rebook his eyetest and I could look at their glasses. He's had to book two appointments as their usual staff can't administer the drops he always has to have to dilate his eyes enough. They must be using less skilled staff or something, as it's never been a problem before. No-one was sitting on the high stools while we were there and we both remarked that they seem to have cut right down on the amount of glasses they stock now. I looked at specsavers glasses online when I got home, but there was nothing I fancied. Boots have two that I quite like, that fit well too, so I will go back with OH on Thursday and decide which to have.

Other than send some FH photos and an email to a new contact in Australia I've had a lazy day and ignored the HW!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Jan 2024 15:50

Mandy I have all my cake making things in little plastic draw kind of things with a handle on the end and they are great for food colourings, bicarb, baking soda etc.

I could do with bigger ones of those for the little cupboard and all the polish, soap powder and bottles of cleaning stuff. Its just seeing what the sizes are and if they will fit. I do have my tins in larger plastic boxes I can pull out but oh pinched a couple of the ones thatfit the cupboard so I shall have to see what he has in those and get them back.

A lot of the plastic boxes now are not as strong as they used to be so really need to see them and feel them to see if they will do the job.

sh and the lasagne

It playing up again.

I am trying the chicken hot pot tonight from Asda but am going to do more veg with it as it dos'nt look very big and won't fill me up. I have also bought the steak and ale with creamy mash and the lasagne. I'll let you know what they are like. they cook in the micro and can be frozen.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 23 Jan 2024 14:34

Yes Mandy I have a sparkling clean oven now it was really bad before as I find it one of the hardest jobs to do now. I will mainly ise the air frier now so hopefully I can keep it clean. I thought it was worth every penny of the £60.

Afternoon all,

Raining here ,I managed to get a bit of shopping from town, I went into the butchers ,Iceland, paper shop ,boots for our tablets and got a big cabbage and some oranges from the market and got home just before the rain got heavy .

So how is the washer going Mel ,sounds as if your having a good sort out in the cupboard, I put all my cleaning bits in plastic baskets so I can just pull the basket forward and get out what I need it makes it a lot easier than stretching to the back of the cupboard each time and you can be sure what you want is always at the back .
I'm thinking about getting some for the tinned food cupboard as it's a devil to get to the back and new tins get put in front of the old ones especially if Colin puts things away.

Anng is your oven nice and clean now .

Ann you asked if the neighbours daughters dog was a young one ,yes he is ,he's not a year old yet ,he is a miniature one of those that they are banning the American bully .
My neighbour goes to walk him during the day as her daughter is a receptionist at the vets ,I think he gets bored as he is in a crate ,sometimes my neighbour brings him home and if he's out in the garden Max will say hello ,neighbour has a rescue dog from Egypt called Chito he's a lovely boy like a big Collie .

We have finished the second jigsaw and we're now going to give the Cludo jigsaw a go ,don't think this one will be as easy.

No we did'nt see Vera yesterday. I hope she has not got problems with the internet again and that she is ok.

Just having a sit down as I have all the things out of the cupboard next to the washing machine. Its where I keep all the cleaning stuff. Putting bits in other bottles and found a emptyan of fridge freezer defroster. So far I have put 5 plastic bottle in the recycling bin so I should have more room in the cupboard now. Hooray. Trouble is I am finding it hard to get to the back of the cupboard as if I kneal down I won't be able to get back up and I am not sure my knees would take it anyway.
