UzziAndHerDogs Report 14 Apr 2010 18:02

Years ago one xmas eve I was driving with my then OH in our 3.5 Rover when we the engine kept cutting out and was over heating. We pulled over into a 'private road' and baled out. OH opened the bonnet, he tried to see what was wrong. Anyway cut a long story short I started the engine for him and the whole lot went on fire ...he had drained fuel, we were also sitting over a puddle with fuel in it ...so the engine had flames we grabbed all the dog blankets from the back to douse the fire above.
There was an electrical van in the road so I asked them if they had an extinguisher, they drove off. I knocked on a house and asked then to call the fire brigade ....they came out with a bucket of water !

We actually collected the car the following day Xmas unburnt but no thanks to the 'private road'
I was so frightened that the car might go up, but couldn't help but laugh at the peoples reactions.
