Don't remind me Aunty, as I sit here munching half a packet of cookies, that I have joined the dieting club at work that starts on Thursday!!

The grapes and bananas and clementines are sitting looking at me but the cookies taste oh so good!!

You hit it on the head Aunty, both with the pavements/roads (weathering - knew the A level Georgraphy I didn't take would come in handy some day!)

And the poem. Plucked up the courage to stand on the scales today - t'was enough to send me scurrying to the left over cakes for a comfort snack!

We were watching a TV programme earlier, set around Brisbane. Well, there is an ad in the UK for XXXX Beer. One guy is saying to someone off screen

' Crocs? No, there are none in the lake'
then under his breathe
'The Sharks ate them all'

I thought is was a joke we didn't 'get' , except this nature prog was investigating sightings and attacks by sharks 80 miles in land from Brisbane, in fresh water. And I don't *think* it was spoof.

Poor YG...it never ends, does it. And more expense just after Christmas. Just as its beginning to be safe to drive, you're lumbered with walking on icy, slushy footpaths again.

I've got the car done DET. Went out of work this morning and took it in to be fixed, so at least haven't had to walk. The pavements are worse now than when they were covered with snow! The slush is really slippy. Our company has had all the car park cleared off snow and gritted. It's not a big one, only for around 25 cars and it cost them £200! Think I'm in the wrong job!! I definitely need to go and get a shovel!! I can become self employed!!!

All you have to do now, is save up for the tyres!

At work today, there were 2 'naughty boys' sitting in islotaion. To my mind, they should have been put to work clearing some of the paths on the site. Knowing them, they were probably in trouble over some sort of snow related incident anyway.

As a 'casual worker' we have to park in the boon docks. And I'll probably be falling over tomorrow trying to get to the main entrance.

I don't know why they don't use people that are doing community service to clear the pavements. I suppose they are worried about the job not being done properly and all the litigations that would take place in this age of compensation, compensation, compensation!!!

Been reading some of the threads about clearing pavements. it certainly seems that people are afraid to do it because they are frightened of being sued.

And that applies to Councils as well.

Oh for Pete sake

If you send me all you addresses I will mail you all those spiky things for your christmas presents(a little late). They won't be those really expensive ones($1 per pair) but they work and you will at least stop complaining about walking on the ice.

ALL OURS IS MELTING TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

CAD$1? That's cheap! Perhaps we can start a business based around importing them....for next winter when it will probably be above average temperatures and rainy. Then we will have to switch to sandbags and inflatable boats - lol

You could always make mud pies Maz ;o)

DET, you don't need to wait until next winter to start a business - start it now!! There's still quite a bit of snow around the country. We haven't had any today but it's forecast to start again at the weekend. We haven't got rid of this lot yet.

It's started snowing again ..........Aaaaargh

YG

YG Report 12 Jan 2010 17:45

A lot has thawed today, but the pavements are still awful and it is getting really slippy now. It has been a very grey overcast day today, with rain showers and a bit of sleet.

Oh Pauline, I hope you don't get much and that it doesn't start settling.

Mazfromnorf Report 12 Jan 2010 18:37
