They've either made it, or still struggling through the snow. Sounds as if it might be our turn later LG. Do you have a telephone tree if you have to cancel Brownies/Rainbows?

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 5 Jan 2010 11:50

No as we don't usually have to cancel as our hall is open no matter what the weather. I hope we don't get too much of the orrible white stuff LOL

We've gone and got the wellie boots out of the shed (again)! LG is more likely to get it than I, being furthur north.

Are you still housebound, Pauline, or have you managed to get all residents out?

YG Report 5 Jan 2010 14:28

Afternoon everyone!!

Well, I got to work ok, although it had started snowing shortly before I left. Me thinks to myself it looks pretty thick but it won't amount to much!

BIG MISTAKE!!!!! Before I got a few hundred yards down the road it started!! Main roads not bad, but the road to work is rather bendy and a couple of little roundabouts with not much traffic at 7.30am!! Anyway, got there, but it hasn't stopped since it started and they finally threw us out at 1.45pm.

I wasn't wearing my boots so finished up with very wet feet because I reckon about 4-5 inches has fallen since this morning!

So I'm all tucked up nice and warm and snuggly at home! BUT have had to bring work home with me lol!!! And as I didn't have my lunch hour and was due to finish at 4pm I have gained the sum total of 1.25 hours!! They think I am going to do a full afternoon's work!!! Yeah, right!!

You could always say you dropped it in the snow YG. I used to use that one at school when I hadn't done my homework. We seemed to have a lot of snow when we were kids, bit like now really.

Yep, still housebound DET, looks like I'll be hear for another couple of weeks at least. Unless I murder my son - and that's a definite possibility.

YG Report 5 Jan 2010 14:40

Well it will keep me occupied tomorrow if I can't get in Pauline.

I detest driving in snow and ice, although in a way snow is more preferable. My conscience is now going to bother me about tomorrow because I get really nervous about driving and would rather not attempt it, but then I have got home safely just now. It is still snowing heavily so maybe I won't be able to get out of my back door tomorrow!!

Mazfromnorf Report 5 Jan 2010 14:45

hi there yes i got in its about ten minutes walk ,not too many kids are off at the moment either
just clean the rabbit out before i took my coat off so now i dont have to do any more outside lol
its snowing again now
YG hope you dont work too hard lol

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 5 Jan 2010 14:57

YG, you could always phone and say you aren't willing to drive and its too slippery to try for public transport.....and could someone come and get you. As you've work you could be doing, they will probably accept that.

Once the thaw sets in , we'll look for headlines 'Mother was at the end of her tether' lol

Hope the pavements and roads can still be used for tomorrow Maz.

Oh, by the way, don't breath in too deeply at NL. LG made me use paint stripper last night as she didn't like the redecoration.

YG

YG Report 5 Jan 2010 15:01

YG

YG Report 5 Jan 2010 15:42

It's heaving it down here!! Supposed to be sunny tomorrow, then more light snow showers from Thursday onwards! Only a very restricted bus service. I need to buy some wellies!! Just been out to feed the birds in my ankle boots and it's gone over the top! Wet, soggy feet again!!
