AmmimGlos

I can imagine that the Charities must be feeling a loss of money support at this difficult financial situation which is affecting most of the world.
I have had to make some dificult decisions about which Charities to support .
Now I support only the following
1.The Life Boat because I have lived by the see for much of my life and have witnessed them going out in the most terrible weather to assist those who are in trouble.
2. Great Ormond Street hospital because they do such marvelous work and my nephew lived to hos late 20s due to the wonderful treatment he had at this world renowed hospital and also more recently my Great neice is alive becuse of the care at the same hospital,
3. I always by a few Poppies on Remembrance Day for all those who gave and are still giving their lives for the freedom we all should have.

In fact a few years ago we took about 20 poppies back to Spain and on rememberabce day weweny to a small local green and the brits gathered together and we held our own service. Some Spanish people stopped asked us what we were doing and so we explained , the following year about 6 spanish people actually joined us and it has grown year on year.
Once again I have gone on & on
Sorry )

Hello everyone how are you all?

The agent who lets this flat called me yesterday to say that a family wished to visit today. So whoo had to but her running shoes on ??
I decided to ask the two cleaners where I have been working if they could come in and they did, and worked so well.

I made sure that the living room, one of the bedrooms , the kitchen and the bathroom were all immaculate and we worked very well together. The second bedroom is now a tidy store room for everything so later today I can finish all the packing and tomorrow I can dispose all the black bags etc.

Trust that you are all well, I must say that in the last couple of days I have started to feel sooo much better and more like my old self.

I will be back latter in the day to see if anyone has had any time to add to the thread

Bye for now

Hi, glad you are feeling more like your old self Bridget, not long now.

Lovely and cool here to-day, had a few showers of rain which perked the lawn up. The rest of the household were all asleep when I came out to the computer which is in my daughter's workshop. Somehow I never sleep in the afternoons. Was up at 5 this morning it was just getting light and could some birds, weavers I think, thought they were a bit early. Had my coffee inside as it was damp out.

Off to see who is awake and to make some tea.

Bridget what alovely idea to start your own memorial service and to have the local people join in.

We have done another charity run with books and some extra bits this morning. (Don't ask where it all comes from and there are plenty more books yet!) Today we left our offerings at the Save the children, Salvation Army and cancer Research UK.

Hello to everyone

what a great surprise yesterday, I had just put the sixth bag of rubbish in the bins and closed the door, steeped out into the grounds where I live and as I looked up there was my OH. I felt 16yrs old, my heart was beating, I felt so happy, stunned and surprised that it was really him, I thought that he was going staraight to Attleborrough Norfolk!!

It was wonderful to see such a broad smile on his face as well, i am sure that if anyone had seen us they would have been wondering why two oldies were behaving in such a manner.
We went out locally for a meal, OH was very tired from all the driving and we just wanted to be together. He left after lunch today and has now arrived safely.

We are going to be on the road for about 7 to 10 days as we have a lot of people to see here in the UK and then go to Amsterdam to see youngest grandaughter and son & his wife so we will bethere for a day or two. So PLEASE PLEASE keep this thread going, it is such a thrill to see that fairly soon we will hit another mile stone.
I wish you all well not only for the next week or so but all the time and I will remember you all in my daily thoughts.

Hello everyone

I am in Amersterdam visiting one of my stepsons, although to me he is a son, and his partner and lovely daughter who is nearly two. It is the first time we have been to see them since they moved into their new house and it is beautiful. They are coming to visit us in June.
I was in a dreadful state when leaving UK but with great help, support and love from my husband I am beginning to feel a little better. We are not driving straight home but will take another one or two stops. I am still not confident enough to drive yet but hope I will be soon.

OH is being such a great support and I do not know how I would manage without him.

Thanks for keeping this thread going, it means a great deal to me and you're all great "pen pals"

Good morning all
Sorry to hear you were not too good when leaving UK Bridget but seeing your grandfaughter must ve lovely - nothing like a 2 year old to keep you on your toes.
I am sure that when you get home and are greeted by your 4 legged friends you will feel marvellous.
Have a safe journey back to Spain and enjoy

I do hope you are feeling better now Bridget, are you safely home yet?

Yesterday afternoon a younbg chap drove past our house with three dogs on the back of an open truck, one of the dogs fell off the vehicle. My dauighter picked it up and took it to the Vet. I stopped the owner (we don't know him) when he drove slowly along the street later obviously looking for his dog, told him where it was and off he went. But do you know that when he got to the Vet he refused to let the Vet examine the dog, my daughter needless to say was quite upset by his actions as the poor animal may have had internal injuries. We'll never know.

The cyclone which Australia was really frightening, gee those people have had more than their share of disasters. I can't even imagine what it must be like.

Hello everyone,

I am home! We arrived at 01.00hrs and we passed our house sitters who where returning from town. I feel wonderful and so delighted to be at my home, with my husband and our dogs Jet and Joe. We slept well, woke to the sun shining through the room, and the sea sparkling.

My oh was wonderful and did all of the driving because I was so anxious.

Now we are unpacking etc and I will be on here each day very soon.

Thank you everyone for being so kind, supportive and the bat cyber friends anyone could wish to have.

Sorry you were unwell leaving UK Bridget, was it the thought of driving?

Anyway I am pleased that you are home and now you can relax and enjoy life in sunny spain.

SpanishEyes Report 3 Feb 2011 20:20

Oh AnninGlos, you hit the right button about the driving.....it sounds so silly especially as years ago I used to drive allover France, Italy, Germany, Portugal,America and all of the UK, without any worries what so ever but now I am a wreck simply thinking about it. I did drive the car to OHs sons' and kept Son on view with OH behind me all the way. However I simply froze at the thought of driving again and so dear OH drove all the way from Amsterdam to where we live a journey of 15 hours because of the appalling snow, ice and fog! The wipers stuck to the windscreen, and you can imagine how that felt. But here we are now in our own home with our dogs, friends have phoned, family have phoned and I feel so relieved.
Sorry cannot say any more as OH wants me to watch a film with him
So until sometime tomorrow

Take care

Bridget

Bridget I said it because I would be the same. I hate driving and rarely drive more than a couple of miles locally yet I used to drive regularly from hampshire to Devon when younger. Just the thought of having to drive anywhere involving a motorway would have me feeling very anxious and ill, and if there was a skight chance of the road being icy I would be terrible. What a wuss. Nervous of icy roads because 45 (yes that's right 45) years ago I skidded our then car an MG Magnet on ice, neither I or three year old daugher were hurt and only a fog light broken as it hit the bank by the side of the road. But ever since then, mention of icy roads has me in a tiz. So i knew where you were coming from.
