This is the true story of Private Albert Turley, an ordinary British soldier of the First World War, and his active service with the 3rd Battalion the Worcestershire Regiment on the Western Front. He died on the Somme for King and Country. He did'nt win any medals for gallantry and has no known grave. Like thousands of soldiers whose names fill local war memorials, he left neither letters nor diaries. This edition is a tightly focused history of the 3rd Battalion Worcestershires and in particular the joint attack on the Hindenburg Trench in August 1916 together with the 1st Wiltshires, and reveals what happened to Private Albert Turley.....
