Morning/evening all.

I hope you have noticed Sue how nicely Allan and I chatted last night.
We have really made an effort and want it duly noted on our report cards.

Sue - I see where there is a store in North London called Suite Furniture Accessories, or Suite FA.

Regards to all

Hello Linda

The Queen will be sorry she missed you - just a phone call to her and she would've popped around.

I think it was Michael Palin who did a program on those plaques around London and we were once again treated to the fish slapping dance. He said that when they were rehearsing it someone had emptied the pool, he didn't know and ended up hurting himself - ouch ##*%.

Guess you are glad to be home again and catching up on your catch ups.

cheers

I have just finished having a good tidy up of all the accumulated paperwork.

It has been a horrible rainy day here. I am annoyed because I walked into town this morning and bought a 21st birthday card, but when I came to put it in the post late this afternoon, I couldn't find it. Annoying as it needed to go first class to get there on time. Oh well, I tried.

I think it must be under a pew in the church because I had it in my coat pocket this morning. I took my coat off and put it on the floor and the card must have fallen out.

I was in the church putting up the tourist office Christmas tree. The church has a community Christmas tree exhibition every year. It is in it's sixth year now. There are over thirty trees, maybe more, all on a theme line. It makes a lovely display

We spend a good part of our day looking for where we put things. Himself is worse than me - I am fairly good at retracing my steps - but he is one that definitely has as my friend always put it 'a man's look'

Our painter had just turned up - he works with his father (who is doing jury service this week). He started doing some finishing on our pantry doors now they are installed beginning of last week then he had to do something else - turned up just now and said he had forgotten about us.
We hadn't worried as they only live up the road and we see them regularly - actually thought it was funny - will give his dad heaps when I see him.

I have a bag that things fall out of - lost one of my eftpos cards (only used it once) and I reckon that is what happened. I put the bag on the floor under the seat in the plane once and had to collect my cell phone etc from under two seats in front of me. I really like the bag because it is roomy - I suppose it will always be roomy with things disappearing out of it.

You must be very pleased with all your handiwork cutting out the gold stars.

Good everything wherever you are...........

Is a mere male allowed to interupt this ladylike confabulation?

I promise to sit quietly in the corner trying to look inteligent.

If I had taken my bag, I wouldn't have lost the card, but as it was raining, I just put my waterproof coat on, that was my downfall.

Some of the trees are really good, then there is ours!

To be fair, I am actually pleased with it this year. I did it along with someone else and we made a good team. The theme was Cribs and Crackers. We always try to have something to do with Yorkshire. This time we got loads of crackers and replaced the little motifs with pictures of famous Yorkshire people. The stars and other shapes have Yorkshire dialect jokes and sayings on them. It sounds daft, but it actually worked out really well.

Good evening Tec and Linda, good morning Perse

Where's our Sue? Probably admiring her new lounge suite. Don't blame her. We get so used to seeing the same thing there for so long, that when we get a new suite, we can't help gazing at it with a smile on our face - can we?

Hope every one is well. Also, your respective O H's. We are in for another hot one to-day, so will be missing for a while, doing some watering.

Good evening Berona, it is getting cold here. By the weekend, we could have a wintery snap, well according to our weatherman, but as he rarely gets it correct, we will have to wait and see.

Hello everyone:-))

I'm pleased you had a lovely lunch with your daughter, Persey. My daughter and I don't get a lot of time together without the children. I'm not complaining but it does make chit-chat difficult. Your SIL is putting a lot of pressure on himself - he is obviously doing very well.

I have the day to myself so I'm going out to buy new cushions for my new lounge suite. We rang up a charity to collect our old suite but when they arrived they rejected it because it was too faded and not in "good condition". OH asked what they expected with second hand furniture but they said that it had to go straight into the charity shop and in the condition it's in it wouldn't sell. Well it's not perfect obviously but for a family room with young children it would do the job.

The day is shaping up to be a hot one so it'll be the air con. today.

Hello Perse, Linda, Berona, Sue,

Just poured myself a large G&T lemon but no ice as I forgot to make any.

The tree sounds very nice Linda, hope you and your friend get a Blue Peter Badge for your efforts.

Perse...What is this "Man Look" all about - is it the male version of the
"The Look" all you girls go on about.

Berona, Don't drown the plants, just water them nicely today

Sue... I just knew the new suite would need new cushions, curtains, lamps, pictures, etc, etc, etc.

Sue - I understand what you are saying about the charity and the furniture!
When I was leaving my previous house, I had a lot of furniture to donate. They told me that they would not take mattresses which were stained or torn - fair enough. I had three bed&bases, and a full little girls' bedroom suite to offer, amongst other things. Three men manned the truck, and they began loading furniture, until they came to the mattresses. They loaded everything which was in perfect condition, then refused to take the bed belonging to daughter's suite, because there was a stain on the mattress. I suggested that they swap it for the top of one of the bed&base units - but NO. Because the bed&base covers matched, they had to be kept together - so they would take that as a unit, but they wouldn't take the entire head/foot/spring of the suite because they rejected the mattress and wouldn't take it without a mattress! They took the rest of the entire suite - with no bed! The head and foot matched the wardrobe, dressing and side tables - but it was left behind! My son had to take what was left and dump it at the tip.

I read a book on that charity later and learned that they employed a lot of people who are being rehabilitated from drugs. I understood their attitude then, but some little girl missed out on being thrilled at having an entirely matched suite because of their intelligence - or lack of.

Hi Sue - I have to do the new cushions bit Sue - I am being extremely fussy and may even buy the material and make them - even though today things are often a lot cheaper off the shelf.

Hello Berona - are you allowed to use a hose or do they have restrictions on how much water you can use. I remember we could only do it on certain days and the odd numbers and even numbers in a street had different days as well. They pay people to come up with these ideas another time we had carless days - had to elect one day a week and we all got bright coloured stickers for our windscreens announcing to the world which day we weren't allowed out.

Tec - Confabulation - what a lovely word - a memory disorder that may occur in patients who have sustained damage to both the basal forebrain and the frontal lobes.

Linda - I am screwing up my face trying to look intelligent but am left with looking constipated.

Tec - it's only cushions. I can't be doing with old cushions on a new suite. Mind you, the coffee table is looking a little old fashioned now:-)) Persey, I did think of making them and I might do that if I can't find what I want. OH just sighs - to him cushions are just cushions so what's the fuss? We ladies know better. After all what if someone came to visit and the cushions didn't go with the suite? Total disaster!!!
