Linda,

I'm sorry you got a nasty PM. I thought we were all mates here.

Anyway, I went quite well today and will tell you all about it tomorrow. I shall bore you all silly.

My eldest son had some homework he had to do once and the kids marked each other's work. The guy who marked my son's wrote "I like how you used invisible ink."!!!!!!!!!!

Colin, of course you can come for my roast mutton. My dad always said to me that the secret to a good gravy, was to brown the meat and he was right!

I will catch up with you all later, will go and have a shower and go to bed.

Hi Janet - nice to see you.

Bye All

I would just like to say, how deeply saddened I am, to see that after more than 7,500 posts on SueMaids thread, some "unpleasantness" has apparently arisen.

Given my personal circumstances, this thread, and the many friends I have made here, is very precious to me.

The thread, the friends, the enjoyment I get here every day, has become an important part of my life. I would be so sad to see anything jeopardize the future of SueMaids Aussie thread.

That is all I wish to say on the matter.

Morning from NZ

I like this thread, I like the Ozzies and I like the Brits that join us (us includes me as part of Australasia) and I now have an affinity with this chap in Wales that names his animals after my family.

I am glad you mentioned that there has been over 7500 messages on here Tec - cause I was no 7500 and that is a very important milestone.
Goldstar on the fridge and all that.

How's it going Alison - you on the bus run this morning?

Hope all okay with you Diane?

Berona - is probably planning where her next meal will come from.

Linda - enjoy your time in London with the family.

And welcome back Sue.

lots of

Persey

Good Morning Persey

Wow, it must be incredibly early in Aukland, are you sleep walking?
If you made the 7,500th post, it deserves more than a Gold Star on the fridge, you should have a plaque on the front of the house.

Well Marmite stayed dry last night, as did we. We apparently had 5 inches of rain in 48hrs. Today has been horrendously windy - not a soul passed my house all day, they're all hiding in their caves. More heavy rain forecast for tonight, and we have a severe weather warning.

Daylight revealed a few slates missing off my roof, most are in shattered pieces in the front garden, also a ridge tile missing. It wouldn't be safe for anyone to go up there at the moment, so I will have to be on bucket patrol for a few days. Can't grumble because some have flood water in their houses........what a mess they're in.

Are you enjoying Broadband? makes such a difference doesn't it?
When I was on dial-up, and my old computer, you could take the dog for a walk while waiting for a page to come up.

Well, as you're up with the lark today, I hope he's singing a happy tune.

Enjoy your day,
Tec

I typed up a lovely reply Tec but it has disappeared -

The phone rang - he answered and I answered at the same time - I hung up - it rang again and then internet connection vanished along with my lovely bit of twitter (as in Lark) - so looks like we have had a bit of teething problems (it is only a newborn afterall)

It is after 9.30am here Tec we are 13 hours ahead of the Brits so I am in your late tomorrow morning. Am off for coffee now and I will type what I was going to say on a word.doc like Colin does and post later.

Berona Report 19 Nov 2009 20:57

Hello everyone. Not sure of who I'm talking to right now.
Tec - it's getting near 8am here (DST) so Perse's time would be near 9am (again, DST). New Zealand is ahead of everyone else in time - being on the International Date Line. I could comment something here - but I won't!!

Barbra - I'm saddened that you 'clashed' with Linda in some way. However, we can't expect everyone to agree with everyone and I hope that you can overcome your differences (because I like both of you), but whether or not, please don't stop talking to us. There are enough of us here for you to be able to talk to us without talking to each other if that's the way you prefer it.

Anyone else on deck yet? I have to duck out and do things before it gets hot - expected to reach the forties to-day. And I was right - it didn't rain! No thunder or lightning either.

Oops sorry - NZ is still two hours ahead of us, not one. Thanks Perse.

Good Morning Berona,

Goodness me! 40c......I would have to dig a hole and climb in it.

I once had a pyranean mountain dog, a very big dog, with a very thick coat. When it was hot, he would dig a massive hole in the garden, and climb in, with just his head resting on the turf at ground level. Sensible dog - didn't do much for my garden.

What I was going to tell you Tec:

When my in-laws were in England many many years ago, they thought they would visit a stately home (was an ancestor’s place). There was no one home when they arrived except a couple of chaps up on the roof. One stood guard and the other one sought help from the local constabulary – these blokes were nicking the lead. My in-laws were both a couple of lightweights and neither would have stood a chance if they had been spotted.

Don't want to talk about the dog's name.

Berona

Berona Report 19 Nov 2009 21:31

Yes, Tec. Very sensible dog. A lot of people here will be jumping into their holes to-day and tomorrow (inground pools), if the forecast is right. So far, it's half-right - hot but no storms.

How is the duchess faring in your weather? I suppose you are worrying about the slates and she is worried about the furniture! and the floor-coverings! My goodness - you'll have to buy new ones! Now, you can't go buying new carpets without painting first - then the curtains may have to be replaced......

To Sue, Berona, Allan, the goddess and other Aussies and Kiwis.

Now I am angry. I don't know who upset Barbra so much. I have not sent her a PM because I don't know who to trust any more. There are a few that I do trust on other threads.
Barbra to me was always fun, and I am sorry that someone thinks that she is funny in a bad way. I don't. I loved her poetry.
I have had a couple of PMs warning me to be careful of so and so. I will take them at face value and have noted who sent them.
Of course Allan, Barbra, Tec, Perse, Berona and I are full of nonsense. So what. I am so grateful that we don't have to be serious all the time.
If you are still reading this Barbra, I had some fun chasing Allan and Tec around too, but didn't get much further than Essex.
My subscription expires Dec 2nd, and since my card number has changed I will have to tell GR the new number and expiry date. Maybe.

Colin.

How are you in your hot part of the world - or are you in your air-conditioned corner?

Full of nonsense indeed - hmmph. I am the sensible one, I jest you not.

I am here on hired Perchase.

Persey, I like your story of the lead thieves, it still goes on, now they strip the lead off church roofs. I've got lead on my roof, but anyone daft enough to be up there tonight is welcome to it.

That dogs name was Sacha......don't tell me!

Berona, You've already had me re-building the dining room, I'm not anticipating buying anymore furniture - ever. It's a good job you don't talk to my OH, you'd be filling her head with all sorts of ideas - she has enough of her own without you stirring it for me.

Hello all,

Sorry to be late but I was catching up on another cuple of Threads and giving Ann in Glos a geography lesson so that should she venture to West Oz she will ba able to find Australind.

Linda whilst it is a bit late after the event, I am so sorry that you have received a nasty PM. I sincerely hope that it won't affect your posting as your comments/critiques etc are most welcome.

Good morning Berona, Persephone, and good evening Tec

How is the wild weather now Tec? And I trust that there has been no more property damage?

It's sad isn't it, that our little group is having a spat. I would just like to say that I haven't laughed at you, Barbra - that's not my thing. I enjoy everyone's posts and I'm sure we can all get on and be happy - take it from me, life is too short for little upsets to take precedence.

I have to go out at about 9.00 this morning. I have to have another blood test, because the doctor thought I looked pale. I generally lie down as I get woozy and nearly passed out once when having my blood taken. I have asked my hubby to pick me up and take me and bring me home. I'm a bit worried that as I haven't been eating well at all, that I'll feel woozy when I'm driving. So, he has said that about 9.00 is a good time for him to get away from work.

So, I'll probably fill you all in later. You will all have gone by then, but it'll be there for you to read later on.

Ciao now.

Hope you are keeping your cool today,

Allan - are you coming on here? Just spotted you on Gail's weather in Oz thread being ever so sensible. You were talking like an encyclopaedia - such a fountain of knowledge.

Tec - some threads ago I saw where you read Bill Bryson. I read Notes from a Small Continent back in the nineties and was reading it on the bus - and I started to laugh out loud.. so put it down resumed composure and then went back to it - and further on I again started to giggle - don't know what my fellow passengers thought.
I ran a secondhand bookshop at the time and I told anyone I sold the book to - to not read it on the bus as you do get some strange looks.

Percy.
