Hi Everyone..

Well it had to happen not sure if I told you all but I was without a air con for about a month..It was really warm at the time and the air con guys were flat out hence the long time coming out to the house. Anyway I had it fixed on Monday and it hasn't stopped raining !!! LOL.

Have been really busy as of late and was in the land of no chat for awhile...Things just got me down I guess as it does for every one else. Have started my Xmas shopping!! I am not a shopper at all and will do anything to avoid the shops so Xmas is just a pain in the side for me.

Have been watching the who do you think you are series...Some of them are quite good and some are rather boring..looking forward to the next Australian series.

Hope everyone is well and happy...

Wow, Allan. Are we in the same country? It's 34 here with storms forecast for tonight, tomorrow and Saturday - but I'll bet we get the heat and no rain!

Has anyone heard from Diane? Did I miss something? She hasn't posted on her own thread since 10th and I haven't seen her on here either. Hope she is OK. Diane!!! If you're there - let us know you are OK>

Alison. How did things go for you? Any results?

Isn't it Diane who has gone away to Tenerife for a week?

Good morning from a dry Yorkshire. It doesn't seem to have rained overnight, which makes a nice change. OH has gone out for his weekly walk with the ramblers (the walk is just for one day, not a week!) They have had to change the venue as the planned one was flooded.

I hope that you managed to sleep last night Tec, a constant drip would be like water torture. I hope that their isn't too much damage to the internal ceilings,so they don't take much patching up.

Some funnies, supposedly genuine, but thye have been doing therounds for years

The following questions were set in last year's GCSE examination.

These are genuine answers (from 16 year olds)

Q. Name the four seasons
A. Salt, pepper, mustard and vinegar

Q. Explain one of the processes by which water can be made safe to drink
A. Flirtation makes water safe to drink because it removes large pollutants like grit, sand,
dead sheep and canoeists

Q. How is dew formed
A. The sun shines down on the leaves and makes them perspire

Q. What causes the tides in the oceans
A. The tides are a fight between the earth and the moon. All water tends to flow towards the moon,
because there is no water on the moon, and nature abhors a vacuum. I forget where the sun joins the fight

A. If you are buying a house they will insist that you are well endowed

Q. In a democratic society, how important are elections
A. Very important. Sex can only happen when a male gets an election

Q Name a major disease associated with cigarettes
A. Premature death

Q. What is artificial insemination
A. When the farmer does it to the bull instead of the cow

Q. How can you delay milk turning sour
A. Keep it in the cow (Simple, and effective)

Q. How are the main 20 parts of the body categorised (e.g. The abdomen)
A. The body is consisted into 3 parts - the brainium, the borax and the abdominal cavity. The brainium contains the brain, the borax contains the heart and lungs and the abdominal cavity contains the five bowels: A, E, I, O and U (What the *!!*???)

Q. What is the fibula?
A. A small lie

Q. What does 'varicose' mean?
A. Nearby

Q. What is the most common form of birth control
A. Most people prevent contraception by wearing a condominium (That would work)

Q. Give the meaning of the term 'Caesarean section'
A. The caesarean section is a district in Rome

Q. What is a seizure?
A. A Roman Emperor. (Julius Seizure, I came, I saw, I had a fit)

Q. What is a terminal illness
A. When you are sick at the airport. (Irrefutable)

Q. Give an example of a fungus. What is a characteristic feature?

A. Benign is what you will be after you be eight

Q. What is a turbine?
A. Something an Arab or Shreik wears on his head

I don't know one lot too hot and the other lot too wet. Tho I don't like the sound of Tec's roof and hope it is not a prediction of worse to come.

Well it didn't rain all day here - but that is only because I had a fold up brolly in my bag. We had to take car to be serviced - so whilst it was there we caught a bus into the city - and have been researching at the library. This evening I have been getting my tree up-to-date and it is so quick - zapping around happily. There has been road works upheaval outside our place and for a horrible moment thought we had been grounded. This hopefully will be the final lot of digging etc it has been upheaval after upheaval with underground power lines etc going in, new lampposts and even digging up the garden that runs down the side of the house so they could insert some sort of electrical hazzard. I think tomorrow we get a new entrance way and footpath.

Don't worry, he does very well on his own.

I hope the work finishes soon, but your will be very smart once it is all done.

There is a terrible noise of chains saws here. We live in a tree conservation area,so any work on trees has to be sanctioned first. A neighbour a couple of doors away had applied for permission to do work on a beautiful old tree. From the noise outside, it sounds like they are chopping it down. A couple of minutes ago there was a tremendous cracking noise, followed immediately by a shout, then it all went quiet. The saw has started up again now,so I guess that they are Ok.

Apologies,I have had a particularly nasty and offensive pm which tells me that it is in fact Pat who has gone away, not Diane.

I got back from doing the groceries on Tuesday and I couldn't go down our drive so parked out front. Young lad came along "excuse me but you can't park there we are expecting one of our trucks any minute you will have to park up the road" Oh no - I am not lugging my groceries (all packed neatly in their ecobags) down the hill etc - I happen to live here.
"Oh alright but don't be long"

There is always something going on around here - we came here in 1987 as it looked like a quiet street. The carry - ons that have gone on during the years including the Armed defenders squad defies belief.

xx
