Hello, Berona - didn't see you there. I bet it's cooler where you are today.

Hello Allan - how's it goin' mate:-) Drooling isn't a good thing but when it comes to hospitals and tests you leave your dignity at the door.

You may think you're immune to the "LOOK" but that's only with your OH. We all have different "looks" so watch out for Linda's and Berona's. I don't want to come back and find that you're a quivering mess.

But Sue, if you all have different looks how will Tec and myself know when we are getting one?

You also reminded me of a couple of schoolyard funnies(?)

What lies at the bottom of the ocean and quivers?...........a nervous wreck!

What floats on top of the ocean and wobbles?........a jellyfish

Well the grandchildren may enjoy them!

Allan I can assure you that you and Tec will know immediately when the Look is sent in your direction:-))

My 5 yo grandson would've given you his version of the look if you told him your jokes:-) I was in trouble the other day. There was a big blowie flying around the kitchen and I swatted it saying "damn fly". My 3 yo grandson saw another one later and said to his mother - very clearly - "oh no that damn fly again". I was told to watch my language:-))

Ahhh Bless him

Do'n you just love them.

When my son was about three, I was decorating the lounge and having a bit of a problem getting the wallpaper up.

I said some thing to the effect that I couldn't get a piece to fit in a certain area although with many expletives.

Next thing, son has a small offcut of paper in his hands and holding it up to the wall and turning it every which way, exclaimed in a very loud voice "It wont ******* fit"

Barbra as the day has only just started it's a bit early to say how it's been or even how its going to be.

Finished of the curry (sorry Berona) and managed to spill some down my shirt. I'm a very messy eater!

Berona Report 3 Nov 2009 21:50

My son's first phrase contained an expletive. His father was changing a wheel on the car and placed the bolts all in a row, when son entered the garage.

On finishing off, his Dad was one bolt short, and spent the next ten minutes searching around and talking to himself.

Son (aged just 2) went to the door of the garage and shouted "Where's at buddy bolt?". The first time he had put two words together! I was so proud!

What faux pas on the another thread, Allan? Did you embarrass yourself? Best stay here where we all know you:-))

Nothing major Sue, just a bit dyslexic when it comes to the alphabet

I did explain that it is not suprising if I sometimes mess up as it was a very long time ago that I learnt it :0))

Well I am only human (Nearly)

Don't tell me we have to send someone over there to bring him back already?...Allan - behave yourself.

I don't know what he has done. It took me so long to read all of the posts on here, that I haven't ventured away as yet.

By the way. The temp reached 36.8 in Parramatta yesterday. Don't know what it was here but we are usually about one degree above that. I didn't think to look at my temperature gauge because I had the air conditioner on and I was quite comfortable. Didn't think about the heat - I had it on because of the smell!

T-day is only expected to reach 23! We have sprinkles right now. Showers forecast, but nothing has developed as yet.

Hey Barbra - behave yourself:-)) Allan my OH is also a messy eater and if we're having something that stains he's sure to spill it on his shirt.

GoodMorning/Evening Everyone,

Hope everyone is bright eyed and bushy tailed,

Accents......In my experience, many Brits can't tell the difference between an Aussie, and a NZ accent. To me the difference is obvious, and instantly recognisable. I've even known a South African accent be mistaken for an Aussie one - how could they do that?
It fascinates me that here in the UK there are so many regional accents, especially as we are relatively speaking, such a small island.

Alison, It is good to see you posting back on here. I hope very much that things go well for you on Friday, and that they don't keep you from us too long. Marmite sends his best wishes to Timothy by the way.
In answer to your question, no there isn't really anyone to sit with Mrs Tec if I have to go out, but I always see that she does a blood test before I go, and has something to eat, so that a sudden hypo is less likely.

Tec

Allan Report 3 Nov 2009 22:04

Barbra, if I was to sit stripped to the waste I'd have plenty of food to eat.

Every one else's stomachs would be heaving. I'm not a pretty sight

I could make a fortune as a male stripper with everyone shouting

"Here's five dollars! Put them back on!!"

Allan,
Are this lot getting at you again?
Have you noticed how they always gang up on a lone defenceless male?

I thought they would all be busy with their mirrors practising the "look"
that is supposed to intimidate us.....that's a laugh!

SueMaid Report 3 Nov 2009 22:14

Hello Tec - always good to see you.

I remember on one of our trips to the UK we had stopped in a small village for coffee and I'd wandered into one of those little shops that attract visitors. The two ladies working in the shop ignored me until I spoke. They were amazed at my accent and asked me if I was American. When I said definately not they apologised and said I must be Canadian as it was difficult to distinguish between the accents. When I said no not Canadian they offered Sth African and I had to say I'm Australian. They looked at me as if I was an exotic creature and then asked me what was happening on Home and Away and Neighbours:-)) They were shocked when I said I didn't watch them.

Tec, 'tis like water off a duck's back.....I have a wife and adult daughter!!

Allan

SueMaid Report 3 Nov 2009 22:16

I can't answer that Barbra. I'm a very tidy eater:-) My father was also a messy eater and mum bought one of those little vaccuum cleaners to clean up the crumbs that surrounded him after he'd eaten.

Tec - we don't have to practise the Look - it comes naturally. My 3 yo grand-daughter has the look already:-)

Sue xx

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Nov 2009 22:26

Like you Allan, I also have a wife, and an adult daughter, so know what you mean - I just laugh at the "look", and laugh louder when they gang up on me - they know they can't win.

Sue, I suppose it comes from having little or no experience of accents.
I'm told that I don't have an accent, just an "English" accent. Confuses many people around here when I suddenly speak to them in Welsh. They don't expect it, and mouths fall open. Everyone here has a strong North Wales accent, and most speak Welsh as their first language.
