This will sound odd.........
I bought him as a Christmas present for a young relative years ago,
while wrapping him, I decided I liked the bear,
thought to myself " He's not having this bear, I want him"
so I kept the bear, and went out and bought another bear,

I was over 60 yrs old at the time - is there any hope?

I am sorry to hear that the duchess has been ill again Tec, but am glad that she is on the mend this morning.

I gather that some of you may have been venturing out onto other threads last night, I didn't venture out, and haven't looked this morning, but no doubt it wwas the same old, same old.

Sue I am practising "the look" so I can use it when you are away. I am sure that it will be far more effective than a soup ladle.

We are going out for lunch again today, twice in a week, we lead such a merry life, well maybe not! It is raining again,which is not so good, but you can't have it all.

Hello Linda, It's past my bed time but thought I would say hello.
As I have said before, I don't cope well with the heat.
We have a lovely air conditioned office, but the boss sent us home about 1.30. He wanted to go to the pub to watch a certain horse race, I think.
Trouble was, it was 37.7 degrees C (99.9 F) at Sydney Airport, which is about two kilometres away from the office. It would have been worse where Berona is, but I think it was pouring rain in Melbourne. And cold.

Hi all and thanks for the PM SueMaid. My tests didn't really show anything apparently, I'm slightly anaemic, but I am off to have a Gastroscopy and a Colonoscopy on Friday - never had any before. I'm being admitted into hospital on Thursday, as there is a good chance I will ummmm......"expel" the prep I have to drink. Noice hey? (Aussie slang that - noice).

Tec, you must be afraid to leave your OH alone with her hypos etc. Do you have someone who can stay with her if you need to go out?

I have a teddy that my uncle gave me when I was 4. His name is Timothy and he's yellow and really cute. I'm now 41, so he's quite old!

Hello and Goodnight Alison. Hope things go well Friday. It seems you are getting what they do for unexplained anaemia. Good to see you on the board.
"Noice" is not really Australian. Kath and Kim used it, with their rather affected posh accents. Kim is the younger woman who really (rooly) wanted to be effluent.
It's a bit like that old war story about the WW 1 Aussie soldier who gets blown over by a shell. When he wakes up in an English, he says to the nurse: Nurse, did I come here to die? Her answer was, No, you came here yesterdie.

Now that Persephone is in bed, I can say there is a distinct NZ accent that we can usually pick, They enjoy fush and chups, and if they are good they get a pet on the hid. On the other hand, they say we Aussies like feesh and cheeps.

Colin, I love how Kimmy wants to be effluent!!!!

Speaking of accents etc, I find it most interesting that many Americans say Emoo instead of Emu and they call our Elle "Elle McPhearson" instead of "McPherson". Odd to my ears.

Edited to say, it's called Australian Strine isn't it? I'm sure we had a book about it once. We often say ploise instead of please etc.

I am glad that the results were not as bad as you thought they might be Alison.

Just to reassure you Alison, mum had an endoscopy to remove some gall stones,she was worried about it, but afterwards said that she didn't know what all the fuss was about. She said to tell anyone who needed one not to worry, so there you go.

Alison I'm so pleased things weren't as bad as I'm sure you were thinking. Don't worry about the tests. My dad had both and he was very nervous at the time. I remember afterwards him saying they weren't anything like he expected.

I don't think of myself as having a very strong Aussie accent but when we're in England I can actually here the accent when I speak. A couple of family members delight in getting me to say G'day which I never say here. When we get home my children say that I've picked up an English accent. I know my OH falls back into his accent very quickly when we are in England.

Colin are you sure Kim wants to be effluent? Oh and I agree with you about Vegemite being a much better spread than Marmite:-) What a great marketing ploy that was over the naming of the new Vegemite. It certainly made people run out and buy a jar with the "rejected" name before the stores ran out thinking they had a collectors item.

We have a young New Zealander living next door to us and his accent is very strong. Certainly you can tell he's a Kiwi. I've noticed that people in Tasmania have a distinct accent also. My son and grandson live in Hobart and grandson's mum has a distinct accent as does my grandson.

It's cool and wet here today - very different from yesterday. All doors and windows will be opened as it is still warm inside the house.

Alison it's nice to see you back again. Don't worry about the procedures, as I said on an earlier post I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy doe together ( I hope that the changed the instruments!) and was given a 'twilight' anaesthetic.

The only embarrassing part was just before i drifted off I started drooling but couldn't swallow as my throat had been sprayed with something. My last conscious thought "It's not my problem!"

Colin 37.7 oC would have me drained.

Linda,i wouldn't bother with "that loook" My OH has been using it for years. I've built up a natural immunity to it
