What a horrible day it is here. The rain is lashing down and it is cold and dark. A day for turning the heating up and reading the papers I think. (The Sunday Times, before any one asks).

Good Morning Linda,
A horrible day here too, dark, raining sideways off the mountain, gale force wind screaming past the window. November has arrived.
I came on early to see if I could connect with the internet, took me over an hour last night, and nearly half hour this morning. Thought it was AOL messing about, but now think it might be my software. Oh well, we will see.
Enjoy reading the paper, throw another log on the fire.
Hope to be on later, Bye.

It will have to be a metaphorical log on the fire Tec, being a modern house, it doesn't have a real fire.

I hope you sort your internet out Tec. Mine was always cutting out, but has been much better since it gets turned off at night. I acquired one of the devices which automatically turns off all the peripherals when you turn the computer off and puts them back on on start up.. It saves energy by not having unnecessary things switched on, it also saves time because you don't have to turn everything off individually. For some odd reason since I started using it, the annoying problem of the internet suddenly disconnecting seems to have gone away. They do say that you should switch your modem off every few days in any case to keep the maximum speed.

I hope the cake turns out OK Barbra, it is usually very gooey when I do it,

Time for even more coffee I think, I will end up hyper active before the day is out

I've got two working fireplaces here, one in the lounge, another in the dining room, rarely used, but I occassionally light one in the depths of winter, and always at Christmas.
It has stopped raining at the moment, the sun even appeared briefly. Still very windy, and the sea is white and crashing up the beach - bags packed.
Frightened to turn computer off now in case I can't get back on. Modem is on continuously, so will swithch it off tonight, as you suggested. Just spent ages typing out a whole lot of info for someone I exchange info with on another site. Hit the send button, and it all disappeared into cyber space, telling me an error has occurred. Much knashing of teeth, stamping of feet, laptop hurled through the window. Now I feel better.

Hope you didn't burn the parkin Barbra. Save me some.
Sounds like you enjoyed the gathering and lunch Persephone.

Good afternoon everyone,
I got wet this morning going to mass.I don't like messing around with brollies and then I went to see an old neighbour. I've just come back from lunch. Roast beef it was. Very nice.
I've got a gas fire with a flame. It's nice to have somethink to look at..
I'm going tout in a moment for a short service at local cemetry.

There would have been no way you could have used a brolly here Pat, the wind has been so strong. It stopped raining late this afternoon, but everywhere is soaked.

PatriciaAnn Report 1 Nov 2009 19:35

Hi Linda,
It stayed dry for the service at the cemetry but it was a bit cold and windy.I'm nice and warm at home now. Doing a bit of reading and using my laptop.

It has been so unseasonably warm, that now normal conditions have resumed,I am feeling badly done too

Tecwyn Report 1 Nov 2009 19:48

Pat.......I did watch a very strange sight today. A man was trying to go down the road underneath one of those big beach brollies. He was really struggling, and being pulled in all directions. I fully expected him to do a Mary Poppins, and disappear over the rooftops.
Hope you didn't get wet again at the cemetry.

The rain has stopped , and the wind has dropped , I think the worse of the storm has passed.

Hi Tec,
I never use one of those brollies because of that. I think I would do a Mary Poppins. It's a lot easier to put your hood up.
It hasn't rained here since the morning. It was just windy this afternoon.

Since I stopped working I like Mondays. I like to think of all those poor souls having to get up lol

Allan Report 1 Nov 2009 21:16

Good evening/morning all

Berona, you sound chirpy this morning, and this is early for you!

Pat as Mary Poppins the mind boggles :0))

Linda in WA The Sunday Times is the only local newspaper you can buy and the UK version of the Times it ain't!! About two pages of news in total (most of which you can get from the Internet) and then pages of advertising. a travel/lifestyle mag a real Estae section, a Classified Ad section and the usual pages of sport.

It's ok in winter though as it gives us plenty of paper to help light the fire with

Tec You should have offered to help the poor gent...or at least point out that the brolly may not have been entirly suitable for the purpose!

Pat - your struggle with the umbrella made me realise that mine has been in the boot of my car for so long, I can't remember when I last used it!
Of course, I don't go out a lot and when I do, it is in my car, or picked up by one of the family at my door. I hate umbrellas, so if I lived where it rains a lot and I had to go out in it - I would be in one permanent bad mood!

Hi Allan,
It's good being able to read papers on the internet!

My mind boggles as me being Mary Poppins! Nothing happens when I click my fingers!

Hello Allan. I'm always bright and chirpy on fine mornings - although I'm beginning to think the aroma of that industrial disinfectant is getting stronger - or is it my nose? Anyway, I have done the rounds of the courtyard pot plants and am about to embark on another round of the bathroom and laundry with the pine spray!

Did you walk this morning? How is the lady who ignores you? and did you have a nice conversation with a wheelie bin?

PatriciaAnn

PatriciaAnn Report 1 Nov 2009 21:25

Berona,
How's the bathroom?

Allan Report 1 Nov 2009 21:30

Berona, yes I went walking this morning. I haven't seen th young lady since Thursday (I didn't walk Friday) and I think that she must sleep in on the weekends.

Not too many bins about either except for the Park areas
