We have backups for all our photos including a copy of each disc at my brother's house. I've just updated the family tree and he also has a copy of that. Too much work has been put into it to risk losing it. I have to say that I still print photos although not all of them. We took 600 photos in the UK last year and we printed about 250.

Allan I have just told my son about your hard drive on computer, he advises that any important thing's you want to keep if you dont tranfer to disc can be tranfered onto a external hard drive as a backup.

Hello everyone,
I've just been watching Midsomer Murders. I dozed off during a bit of it.
i put my photos on the computer but I keep the memory card as well because I only had my laptop this year and I use a digital photo frame as well..
I tried to read what's been happening on this thread but I only went back three pages.

Are you doing Bin research Allan? I could send you photos of my 120L with the red lid and my 240L with the blue lid and then I have another one for garden rubbish that is a greenie. South Auckland have Yellow lidded ones - would this help you with your family tree? Could even thro in a couple of recycling crates for free and we have a company that does pink mini - skips - but they are probably a different branch.

I press submit, Diane - nothing happens if I press enter other than a new line. Think I might have to join the llamas with my intelligencia.

It was probably a dopey question I am good at dopey - I would tell a joke about him and the rest of the dwarves but they would probably close this thread.

Thanks for that Diane. I had thought of an external drive.

I had also toyed with the idea of buying a lap top for my business but as most of the places I work in have their own systems and I am usually allowed access to them, I haven't bothered

I do have a 2 gb Memory Stick which I carry with me

This thread has impeccable timing - there is a new entry on average every two minutes far more reliable than the trains.

Allan - you have just made me think of something.

Fifty years ago, who would have thought that to-day, most of us would be carrying a phone around with us? We laughed at the idea of Dick Tracy's detectives wearing a two-way wrist radio!

Your comment about carrying a memory stick with you made me think 'why not that too?'.

Edit: Perse - anything is better timing than the trains we have here!

Allan

I've notice more and more when I do the training courses for new volunteers that the professionals now use Memory Sticks in their presentations. As there are computers in the conference rooms in the hospital it makes things very easy - much better than the projectors that were often used.

Allan, OH has an external hard drive which he updates regularly. It was very handy when our computer crashed last year and had to be rebuilt.

Hello Patricia

It is nearly midday where I am.. and this thread is open all hours.

You are right Age is only a number - it is becoming a not very nice one - but my friend and I we still carry on like 18 year olds and my grandchildren don't think of me as old - in fact when I stopped work the 14 year old said why she is not old? So that I appreciated.

And you only have to look at the youthful Berona, Allan in his Beanie and Wellies and Linda's husband with his gym card (well if he has found it) and you think yes we are a young lot.

Cheers - better go forth and do some more mitsvahs.
Perse who seems to have stopped having spaces below her scripts.
