Have been onto NZ google and yes we do have passata sauce - Delmaine brand in the supermarkets. Thought I might have to try one of the specialist deli shops.
Not only that I have found mussel recipes using it and methinks your sauce Linda will go well in the seafood marinara as well as the bolognese. The last time I did a ratatouille found I had run out of tomato paste so chucked in fruit chutney and OH liked that better because it was sweeter.

Now do you people put little x s on the bottom of your brussel sprouts, Nigella does so because her mother did before her? Gordon Ramsey, is dead against that idea so much so he swears by it. I have tried both and I can't tell the difference.

Good evening/morning everyone:-))

Had a lovely lunch. Didn't win the raffle but won a small door prize:-))

Linda I love you - just thought I'd tell you that:-) Do you remember my Ellen Turnbull and William Morris? Well you broke down Ellen's brick wall and for that I'm grateful. BUT I received their marriage certificate today and went looking for William. Within a very short time I had found him on the census - his father's occupation - and it's a specialised one - matching with that on the certificate. Then I found the baptisms of all the children. Then William's parent's marriage and quite possibly William's paternal grandparents. I never thought I would find them. The funny thing is that my late MIL - bless her - told the family that the Morris's were from Wales. Well it would seem not at least as far back as the late 1700's. It was in actual fact her father's mother's family - the Williams'. Why is it that despite the facts there in black and white - OH's family refuse to believe me and continue to tell me that I'm wrong. Very nicely of course and with an indulgent smile on their faces.

The weather here has been cold and miserable but I'm glad it's not 33 degs.

Alison I hope you are keeping well.

Good evening Sue. I'm pleased that yourresearch is going well. Idon't have that problem with my family not believing what the records say as there is onl myself and my nephew interested.

Perse, we cut an x in the bottom of the sprouts ( and yes my mother taught me to do it) It is supposed to help the sprouts cook in the centre.

The only thing we don't do now is put a bit of bicarb in the water to help retain the green colour.

I hope that everyone has had a great day

Sue,

What on earth are you going to do with a small door??

There's no stopping him, is there, Sue?
(just what ARE you going to do with a small door?)

Well, the best we got here was 16c to-day and I've been cold and now have the aircon on. Had to change it over from cool to hot - probably will have to change it back again tomorrow. Rained all night and well into the morning - only light rain but it eventually stopped. Didn't get warmer though.

Good evening Berona

I hope that your day went well

I really must do a spell check.

I've just seen the mistakes in my last post and I am mortified!!!

Good morning everyone.

I am glad you love me Sue lol. I did offer to take a look at Allan's brick wall as well, but he has ignored that offer.

I got side tracked last night,so didn't keep up with the thread, I think I insulted Tec's dress sense. I was going to say that he is probably a dapper old gentleman, but thinking about it, I see him as more of the dilapidated country squire.

I just looked at my post and it was full of red squiggly lines, which I have now corrected before posting. That is the advantage of using Firefox Allan, it has an add on spell checker which highlights all the typing mistakes "live",so you can correct them before posting.

It doesn't help my awful grammar though.

Oh I forgot to say Perse, that I was taught to cut an x in the bottom of the sprouts, but never bother now and they are no different. I love sprouts, just as well as we have millions on the allotment, but I like them nice and crisp. I hate soggy sprouts.

Allan - you don't need spellcheck. Just press your thumb down harder to separate the words. We know what you mean anyway, so don't worry about it.

Hi Patricia,
Yes, I expect our friends down under are all asleep, except for Allan, he walks the streets all night talking to wheelie bins apparently.

Lovely day here, as I hope it is for you too. So after lunch I shall be catching up with some outside jobs that need doing before winter sets in.

That Linda's a cheeky madam isn't she?
First she insinuates I'm some sort of scruff, like Compo. Then a dapper OLD gentleman. Then a dilapidated country squire?
I would like that "young" lady to know, that actually, I'm a paragon of fashion, and the epitomy of sartorial elegance when I need to be.

I wonder what she looks like when working on her allotment - now that would be interesting!

Anyway I must away to my work, in my trendy jeans with the hole in the knee.

Bye for now,
Tec.

Oh dear, I seem to have upset Tec. Perhaps dilapidated country squire was a bad choice of words. I meant the shabby chic look. We have loads of people like that round here, absolutely loaded, but dressed in very expensive clothes which have seen better days

What do I look like when working on the allotment, well groomed as always. What did you expect?

Tecwyn Report 26 Oct 2009 17:48

Morning Aussies, Evening Brits.
My dinner is cooking in the oven. It's a Ken Wok thing.
Chinese something or other.
It seems nice.
Get back to later.
Sausage and mash is nice. I've had that quite a few times as a meal out.

Good morning/evening all:-))

Still smiling at the "small door prize" remarks:-))

Susanwithnumbers if you're around we may have a match cos I also have Granny Williams. Do you have a William Williams and Thomas Williams? Not common names - only about two million in Wales and all of them have been hot matched to mine on GR.

Not much on today so I'm hoping to update my family tree with the info. I found yesterday. I know I sound like I'm boasting but I'm so pleased to knock down this wall. I'm also able to now hand it the info. over to OH's aunt who has also had no luck. She'll be so excited:-))
