Yes, I'm a morning person too, like to take the dog out before the streets are aired, and people are around, but unlike Allan, I do at least wait until it's daylight.
The Duchess seems ok tonight, she ate her dinner anyway, no complaints, so it must have been edible.

Janet, I can sympathise with your a/c problem. We purchased a cheap system through an agent in Bunbury who immediately went out of business after it was installed. Nearest Agent now in Perth so we have to wait until there are sufficient jobs in the Bunbury/Australind area to justify them sending someone down.

Hello Allan. How was your walk? and how is the young lady you meet? and, of course, the bins?

I have actually been awake since 4:30am, but rather than get up in the dark and put lights on - I make a cup of coffee and go back to bed and read until my radio comes on in time for the 6:30 news, after which, I rise and shine!

My walk was very good, although the wind was a bit strong. The bins are fine and they send you their regards.

As for the young lady, I haven't seen her for a few mornings....it must be something that i never said to her.

She has probably gone off in a huff...I'll leave it for ninety minutes and that will make it an hour and a huff 0:))

Has Tec left us? and where are the girls? Diane, Linda, Pat, Barbra. Looks like Sue is busy - she has H****w**k to do and supermarket shopping too - lucky Sue! How I envy her (not). I have reduced my supermarket shopping to once a fortnight and once a fortnight to the fruit market (which sells milk). The only thing I have problems with is bananas! If I buy them from the fruit market, they can last a whole week, but from the s/market, the best I can get is about five days - even if they are hard and green.

Just wondering where do your bananas come from?
Do they they come from Northern Australia? or from somewhere in the Pacific. Ours come from the Caribean or South America.

Our bananas come from Queensland and northern N.S.W....I notice that if I buy them from the fruit market or 'little' shops, they last longer because they are collected from the Sydney Fruit Markets and taken straight to the shop and sold - but the supermarkets seem to store them - then deliver to their branches, then they are stored again until the older stock is sold.
It makes a difference to the taste too.

Out of interest, how much do you pay for the bananas?

I though your bananas must be "home grown" I like to eat them when they're speckly, but not mushy.
Supposed to eat one every day as they are high in potassium which I am apparently lacking, but if I eat one a week it's a miracle.
Bananas cost ave' 4 for £1 or $2

This week I paid $3.98/kg at the supermarket - last week $3.99/kg at the fruit market.

That's about the same as we pay in the West. We also have some local supplies from the Carnarvon region

The price has never come down following that cyclone a couple of years ago hit Queensland.

Allan, I don't know how our bananas work out per Kg, I only ever buy four average size, cost £1 - I I buy more they are wasted.

Your OH is very kind to shake off the soil, that's a rotten job, but a great help, and saves time for you.

I suspect that none of you are there at the moment, but hello for when you come back. We may have been sent to Coventry, as not being obsessive about our ancestry. We haven't been whooshed because we may be of no interest to the self absorbed.
Just to let you know about GF. The day after the procedure she went into the city on the train, for her WEA (adult education) class. The topic is Sydney 50 years after settlement. A rather neglected part of our history. Convicts were still arriving but vastly outnumbered by the arrival of free settlers. Mrs Chisholm was trying to get more girls as immigrants, because men rather outnumbered women. Democracy was in the air, and the colony was thriving. And so were the currency children, children and grandchildren of convicts.
She is doing OK but has been to the doctor this morning due to infection. More antibiotics.
Tec, I hope your wife is improving. It must be a nightmare juggling insulin, food intake and metabolism during a fever or other illness. Below 2 sounds incredibly low to me. A friend once had a hypo where she was still capable of testing herself, and was only 2.2.

There have been a few cracks from top siders about convicts, so I must come out of the closet.
My ancestry being Australian more than a generation or two, I have several convicts in my tree. All became more or less successful, tenant farmers and some land owners, and opportunities they never had in the old country. Even GF, whose father and maternal grandfather were Scots, is descended through her other grandmother from the same English and Irish convict stock as many of us.
I was going to ask you not to send me to Coventry, but if I could come back it would be fascinating to see. No ancestors from Coventry, but several from England, Scotland and lots from Ireland.
Probably catch you on Monday our time. Brits can enjoy the extra hour's sleep this weekend.
