Murder she Wrote is all about a writer called Jessica Fletcher who manages to solve murders. etc. Jessica Fletcher seems to have a nice life in that she kows the right people and goes to nice places. Angela Lansbury plays Jessica.

Hello everyone (too lazy to name you all!)

Carole, I've been watching Murder She Wrote, as there are 10 series. She's kind of like Miss Marple and the MSW actress, Angela Lansbury reminds me of my Aunty Bob.

Janet, I think I'm missing Series 2 of Bewitched. Got a good giggle out of the episode in Series 8, where the Loch Ness Monster is actually an old boyfriend of Serena's named Bruce!

I try and watch the re-runs of Charlies Angels too - I wanted to be a Charlies Angel. When my cousin came to stay, we would play Charlies Angels and we all got to be who we wanted to be (I liked being Farrah Fawcett and then Cheryl Ladd). However, when my sister and cousin wanted to play at being Abba, they, both being older, were Anna and Frida. I had to be Bjorn or Benny. You feel sorry for me now, hey?!

Hope SueMaid isn't too pooped. Hope Sexy Specs is seeing better and of course I hope Mrs Tec is ok and that Tec got some rest.

Hello everyone, Good Whatever it is to you,

Today has been a much better day in this little corner of the Commonwealth - bright sunshine, with a keen cool wind.
Her Royal Highness is still unwell - Linda please note - she was served breakfast AND lunch in bed, but got up in time for dinner tonight.
I washed and dried loose covers off the sofa - had them ironed and back on by 5pm......Anyone want to borrow me for a week? Spring Cleaning?

Sue....Only two days to go, and you can lie in a darkened room, feet up, bottle of wine, box of choc's, listening to sweet music - peace.

Linda....I found the site very interesting, put it in favourites to look again. I have always found the whole ethos of cinema and theatre fascinating.
Where else, for little outlay, can you walk in off the street and be transported into a different world, sit and be entertained in comfort?
I remember with great fondness going into my local Odeon Cinema, with it's deep carpets, red velvet drapes, and Art Deco artifacts and furnishings.
Once inside, you could be a pauper, or a prince - classless entertainment.
I think that volunteering to keep such places open is so worthwhile, good luck to your cinema.

Carole....Yes I was talking about Kryal Castle in Ballarat. It was featured as part of a tv programme I watched. They interviewed the guy that owns it.
There were Knights in armour and chainmail walking about, a monk, all sorts of things going on. Also a medical equipment museum, that I found a little weird.
Good Luck to your daughter with the Equine Studies Course.

not that I watch it. You are too young I know, but I liked Margaret Rutherford as Miss Marple....that was a long time ago.

I just knew there were kangaroos all over Oz, despite the fact that the other Aussies I talk to deny it. They sell kangaroo steak in this country as well, I have had some.

Tec, you are a lovely OH, bringing the duchess meals in bed. You can have a gold star on the star chart for that.

The cinema is great , we started going to it when we moved here, then ended up volunteering. OH is now on the board of directors. That sounds very posh, but it is just the committee who run it. They became a limited company a couple of years ago and the directors all have a one pound stake in it. That means,that is the limit of their personnel financial liability.
OH and another volunteer have spent a lot of time painting the foyer and stairs etc. He has framed lots of old photo's of movie stars and hung them as well. The old place is looking really spruced up now. It is good to be able to contribute something to the history of such an old building.

It's true about the kangaroos, they're everywhere. I was once walking over the bridge in Sydney, and there were thousands of them coming the other way. Most disconcerting I thought.............................
The work your OH does in the cinema must be so satisfying, and a labour of love.

Hmm Tec, I don't think they were kangaroos. I am very impressed by your loose cover washing, I hope that you didn't shrink them.
I was wondering how you ironed them as well. The last suite we had had removable cotton covers, but the three seater sofa one was so big that it would hardy fit in the washing machine.We bought a new leather suite last year which is much easier to deal with, it just needs a quick wipe down with a cloth

This board is very disconcerting because whenever I refresh the page, the font changes to a huge size.

This is a three seater too - the cushion covers are separate, so you wash them separately. Yes it is a job to stuff the big cover into the machine, but brute force and ignorance work wonders. Ironing it is a complete pain, trying to find what you've ironed, and what you haven't - took me two hours to iron it, with a coffee break in between constantly putting water in the iron.

I think the next suite will be leather. Actually, I have a bergere suite in storage waiting to be sent for renovation. It's a 1920s walnut suite with cane backs in a circle, and cane sides. Drawback is the the canework is so expensive now, so would cost around £1,500 to have done.
I must get it done, it's a classic in design, the upholstered seats are in good order, just the canework needs re-doing.

I can watch the match and talkto you at the same time - able to multi-task

Sounds like you need to find an evening class in restoring cane work.
My brother has just started an class on brick laying because his wife has been pestering for ages to have some new walls built in the back garden and it costs so much to get someone to do it. Thankfully they are only going to be small decorative walls, so they don't matter too much

We have lots of road kill around here as well. There was a programme on TV about someone who collects it to eat. I wouldn't fancy it myself, but it is just fresh meat I suppose

Barbra..... We have lots of birds of prey, including red kites, also not far away the RSPB have ospreys breeding. The wild goats come down the mountain in winter, we get foxes, rabbits, squirrels, and otters in the river.

Linda, if there were such a class I would be interested.

Hello lovely people. Just a quick look in before the breakfast brigade starts.

Tec - we've been to Kryal castle twice when our children were younger and it's a really good day out. We watched the jousting which we all loved. The funniest thing was the last time we went with just our youngest we saw a "knight" in full armour attempting to talk on his mobile phone:-))

It's quite overcast here this morning and looks like being a cooler day. I must say I don't like really hot weather.

I have to go and do some interviews today so Grandad will be left with the grandkids. He'll be exhausted:-))

Linda I've put the cinema site on my favourites so I can have a good look at it later. I'm just wondering if you and your OH work harder now than you did before you retired. I know that my OH wonders how he ever got the time to fit in work.

Tec I hope your Duchess feels better soon. You must be tired. I do hope you are looking after yourself too. As I've said before she is one very lucky lady.

having had a stressful job, I can't say that I work harder now tha tI am retired. I just spread it out to fill the day.

We have spent the day at mum's house.we had three people viewing today and in between showing them round, we finished emptying the loft. They all still had their own houses to sell, so I am not hopeful yet

Tec - speaking of breakfast.
I awoke early this morning and did some reading before I emerged. In one part of the book, someone was eating a bacon sandwich. The memory stayed with me, and after my cereal, I was still thinking of the bacon sandwich - so I made one! It was delicious.

Well, there's a flight leaving Heathrow in about 4 hours, I might just make if I put my foot down. I'm very thorough, everything will be moved, no stone unturned. Paintwork washed, carpets shampoed. You'll be wishing I'd go away after two days upheaval.

I wouldn't mind the mess you make while cleaning, as long as you clean it up when finished, but I wouldn't expect you to wash the cat - well, not unless you can borrow a suit of armour from one of the castles! I can borrow some welding gloves to go with it.
