Good evening Brits/morning Aussies - and any Kiwis, Sth Africans, etc.

I've been here for a while but catching up on the posts.....still persevering with the new eyes. I thought I would keep trying for a while before I go back. They told me on the phone that the bifocals are only temporary, as the optician wasn't happy with them and had ordered new ones because he thought they were too thick...I expected to see them looking like bottle tops, but they look OK to me - except that the earpiece is loose. Also, I asked that the second pair allow for me sitting well back from the computer, as I have a pull-out shelf for the keyboard - and they haven't allowed for that at all. I will give it until they ring again to tell me the replacements are ready - and will have my list of complaints ready by then.

Tec - hope you are making up for your lost sleep. - and don't forget to wear the black stockings with the uniform! We don't want you looking like Allan with hairy legs!

Looks like a hot one coming up for us to-day. Beautiful just now, but forecast for more than 30.

Diane that's why we have our children when we're young. Janet we have the kids until Friday. They are good children and easy to look after but two 3 yo's and a 5 yo are tiring. I think we'll need a holiday after this:-))

Must go - things are hectic.

Good evening everyone,

I hope you son is better soon Janet, I hated it when my little ones were ill, I always wished that it could have been me instead.

I am glad that the duchess is better Tec, I hope that you don't catch her bug though.

I am sure that I have told you about the cinema before Tec. It is totally run by volunteers, but as far as the customers know, it is just an ordinary cinema open seven days a week.

We do sell the tickets and the sweets. You are not allowed to stop a film these days to have an intermission, but we do take the ice cream tray round half way through.

I most certainly would not let you in if you were under age, our licence depends on it

Linda - you have gone up higher again in my hero's tree. You went to the dentist!...When it comes to doing that, I have to be the world's biggest coward.

Sorry I disappeared for a while but it has all gone mad on chat , problem over sticky thread ( that was ) for jean, Sue you will know what I am talking about, won't say to much on here, don't want to loose this thread as well but the way the peep's are reacting there will be multiple ban's.

Sue, you are so right. Nature says we stop having children at a certain age and I'm not in favour of these women in their fifties and older, who are trying to defy nature.

How do they expect to cope with teenagers? - and how do they know they will still be here to try?

Didn't hear any more about the lady in her seventies who was having IVF treatment - anyone heard any more? I don't get newspapers, so I miss out on a lot of the news.

Allan Report 20 Oct 2009 22:48

Good whatever all.

I've been trying to log on for ages but the 'puter is playing silly bu**gers at the moment.

Janet, sorry to hear that your lad is not feeling the best. I hope that he is soon in fine fettle.

Linda, I now make my own curry powder as the one I liked to use is no longer available. I have a fantastic recipe book "Fat Free Indian Cooking"

The curries are great as is the chicken biryani.

Diane, if you are sneezing, honey and glycerine in warm water topped up with lemon juice and whisky is just the thing.

Berona you'll soon be a site for sore eyes if you are not careful!

Sue, great to hear from you again

Tec, I'm glad that the Duchess is on her way to recovering her health

Apologies to any one that I have missed

i'm in my eatly fiftties and I never had any children. I've got no desire to have any children now! It is a shame that I won't be a granny but one day I might be a Great Aunt!
When I'm in my seventies I want to be retired and going on coach holidays!

lol Berona the dentist is a doddle these days. I have had so much dental work done over the years that nothing phases me now.

About thirty years ago, I was watching a men's field hockey match when one idiot cleared the ball into the air into crowd standing on the side line. It was a really dangerous thing to do and it hit me in the mouth with incredible force. One tooth was knocked out straight away and my top lip was cut inside so badly that I had loads of stitches in my mouth.

Eventually i had a bridge with a false tooth attached to the ones on either side.Unfortunately one of the teeth the bridge was attached to was also damaged and eventually that one had to be removed as well. So I now have a two span bridge which has two false teeth supported by the teeth on either side. The NHS won't pay for a double bridge which is why I have to pay privately for my dental care. I have had to have a couple of replacements over the years as the y have worn out. I also have had a nasty abscess in my gum on top of the bridge which needed to be cut open and stitched.

Not that I want to put any of you off going to the dentists lol

G'Day Berona,
Have you done your press-ups this morning?
Skipping next, then a jog around the block - we expect to see you in the Sydney Marathon, and finish in respectable time.
Yes....I've got the black stockings on, but no stilletos, as nurses wear "sensible" shoes.

Linda........I haven't heard about the cinema before - sounds really interesting - seriously, I think that is such a great thing to do. We have a family run cinema near here. Has a corrugated tin roof, so not so good in a rain storm. I've always had a fascination for cinemas, not so much the films, but the buildings, and interiors - magic.

Welcome, Pat. To avoid the normal confusion I live in Western Australia about two hours South of Perth.....time differences crop up at regular intervals on this thread so it sometimes becomes confusing :0))

Diane, I have just been on the Chat Board: wow and double wow. A few members will be taking an enforced holiday and it always seems to be the wrong members receiving the ban
