Tec, I hope that you had a better night and that the duchess is now stabilised. My brother and his wife both have diabetes. My sister in laws levels are often incredibly high and they don't seem to be able to sort it out.

Sue, I have mentioned you in your absence, I tried to blame it on you for comparing Allan to Howard in Last of the Summer Wine.

This morning I have a dental check up and the hygienist to look forward to. I hate the hygienist, all that scraping etc Yuk!!!!!!!!

I hope that you manage to get back to the opticians and get your glasses sorted out Diane. Last time I had mine changed, the same thing happened. I know that often when you get new specs things can seem odd for a day until your eyes get used to them, but I knew something was wrong,so went back. They tried tweaking them a bit, but I was insisting that there was a problem,so they got another of the opticians in the practice to test my eyes again and sure enough the prescription for one of the lenses was far too strong.

Oh sorry Allan, I didn't see you there. In any case why are you here? You should be out digging for victory

Nevertheless Allan, I'm keeping the wooden spoon handy - although I see in to-day's news a mother has been charged for allowing the wooden spoon to be used on her child. I have to admit that I used to keep it handy.

Pat - in case you are confused - Allan lives in Western Australia and Sue lives in the east, so there's three hours difference in the times.

Linda - that was me with the new glasses - not Diane. I will be paying the optician another visit!

Over the last few weeks, the allotment has had to take a back seat. We were there on Sunday and the weeds had returned everywhere, Poor OH spent all afternoon digging and still has loads more to do.
I must go back this afternoon and pick some more sprouts, if any one wants any, we seem to have millions of the things.

I would rather have any amount of filling etc done that have the hygienist digging around, but is has to be faced. The worst thing is that because I pay for my dental treatment privately I have loads of these preventative appointments every year.
Time for me to go so,see you all later on.

Whilst not advocating wholesale cruelty to children, I think that the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction....just my opinion and I'm sure that others will also have theirs

I have to tell you this...Today i am having a coffee with OH and he says to me I think I should get my eyes tested having trouble reading...I replied well you are at that age...lol.. and I said I will make an appointment for you when i go next....Then he said I am having trouble hearing...!! I said OMG anything else??? He said don't even mention the dentist I am not going.!!! I replied you wus...LOL. This is the man that takes 8 years off his age when any one asks him...!!!!

Yes Allan. My wooden spoon was a deterrent. I did use it on the backside of my eldest son - he was one of those kids who had to touch everything and try it out and even though he was warned, he would have to have one go at it first, before he walked away - usually with disastrous results! My other three were totally different in personality and I never needed to use it on them. If and when they got naughty, I just had to get it out of the drawer and put it in a handy position - and they became angels. My OH was never interested in using it and I do think a man's hand can hurt more than a woman's can. He only needed to speak to them - his voice was LAW!

Well, I am back with a clean bill of health. I hate it when the hygeinist says that there is just a bit of plaque because I know what is coming next. I am brave though and just close my eyes and think of other things.

I think that you should make appointments for all three for your OH Janet, purely on the grounds that it is good to get your own back sometimes.

Diane..the book that I'm reading is a historical fiction novel, its the seventh book in the Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, I'm about a quarter of the way through and loving every minute!!!

Berona... that was excellent advice on acquiring a new pair of glasses you gave, I usually take my daughter with me, as its impossible to chose the right frames. Those drops that they use are to dilate your pupils to check the health of your eyes, I absolutely hate it every time I have to have it done!!!

Ali-Cat...I hope the treatment went OK today, what DVD did you watch?

Hello Carole,

It is early afternoon here, but not very warm. OH has just ventured down to the allotment to do some more digging. I am just about to plant up my hanging basket for the winter, then I will saunter down to the allotment and pick some veg.

Like Allan, I like curries,so I will make a large vat of vegetable curry for dinner. I never use curry powder, I have a drawer full of all the spices and always make the masala from scratch.

How do you make curry power, what spices do you use?
I like curries too, I didn't know you could make the spice yourself, am I daft or what?
