I thought you left quite sharpish last night, must have been scary for a while . Hope OH is better today hun.

Berona, being a private carer and the only one for the family it doesn't work the same way as it doe's when it is agency for Social Services provideing the care, if it was an agency and the carer couldn't be there for whatever reason they have other's that can stand in, so the only time she could get any other cover for me is in an emergency and even then the Social Services would find it hard to get her the cover with such short notice. Before I started work for the family she was suppose to have help for when she was going in to hospital to have a breast removed, they had over 2wks notice about this, the night before she was going in they still hadn't got anyone to help her husband while she was in, she knew I was out of work and rang me and asked if I could help out for a couple of wks, so there is one example of how hard it is to get cover for me.
The other thing is the agency worker's don't provide carer's before 7-30am, I have to be there on week day's at 7am.

I like your new spec's Berona - or S*xy Spec's, they do suit you, even if seeing is difficult - you must go back if problems persist.

Allan, You seem to be making good progress with the grass, soon it will be all gone.

Diane, I really do hope something can be done to get you time off, don't know how you keep going

How about letting 50 moles loose in your garden, let them do the work. They've done an excellent job in my daughters garden - looks like a minefield.......good little workers.

Afterwards - you can make moleskin trousers!

Diane, thanks for explaining that. You must be dedicated to your job because I can't imagine the pay would be as much as it should be for that kind of work. Is it subsidised by the government in any way, or does the patient's family pay the whole amount? I hope I don't seem nosey, but there could be others reading who might need to know these things, and it all helps.

No moles that I know of, but we do have lawn beetles which do a good job of ruining lawns.

I'll just send an email to the local High School telling the students that I know where they can find a nice crop of 'grass'

Allan - try digging little holes all over your lawn and play mini golf. You can keep changing the course as the cats fill the holes in for you and in no time, you'll have the whole job done! Probably fertilized too.

My wages are payed by 2 different organisation's
one is Direct Payment, recently changed there name to something else, but can't remember new name, they pay for 12hrs of my time, the other 32hrs are payed by I.L.F( Independant liveing Fund ) they both pay at the same rate which is

£ 6-73p an hr weekday's
£ 7-45p an hr weekend's

I don't think you are being nosey hun, I don't mind you asking.

Well, you lot. I've been skimming over the last few pages and not once - NOT ONCE - was I mentioned. Have you all forgotten it's MY thread?

We're exhausted looking after the grandkids and loving every minute. They really are lovely children and quite easy to look after. The funniest thing was teaching our 3 yo grandson to sing "How much is that doggy in the window". He sings and the other two giggle themselves silly. They are a joy.

Tec, so sorry the Duchess hasn't been well. I have to say that she is one lucky lady to have you taking care of her - she's in good hands.

Glad to know you are enjoying your grandchildren. I will be seeing all of mine this Sunday - but only for the day - I will probably be looking for my bed very early that evening!
