I hope that you get your glasses sorted out, I hate changing mine, they never seem to be adjusted correctly when I get new ones. I have varifocals and they need to be aligned perfectly for me to see properly.

Three weeks ago,I put them down on the floor and OH stood on them, one of the lenses came out and the frame was all twisted. I had to make an emergency dash to the opticians to get them mended. They did them there and then, but they are not right because I am constantly having to move them

Good evening/morning all

It seems that we now have Ali Cat and S*xy Specs...no wonder (stevie) that I can't keep up!

I hope that for those who are now in the latter hours of the day had a good one, and for those whose days are beginning also have a good one.

I managed to dig out a few more metres of lawn yesterday and can now begin to see a difference.

We've been in this house for nearly twenty years and all I seem to have done is dig up bl**dy grass

Hello Barbra and Diane

Goats and sheep would bo ok for keeping grass down (and later in curries!) but we are digging the lawn up entirely. Too mant water resrtictions in Summer and despite a fortune spent on wetting agents, fertiliserd etc, the lawn has always looked like a moth eaten blanket!

Oh, but I do feel like a s*xy lady now, Diane. I can look in the mirror with my new specs on, and see a blurrr- so my imagination runs riot!

A word of advice to anyone who thinks they need new specs - take someone with you. I was so glad my daughter came with me (and only decided to at the last moment, too) but when I went for my test, the optician put drops in my eyes (only eye doctors could do that before) and I didn't expect it. However, at the end of the test, I was given various frames to try on, and I couldn't see a thing when I looked in the mirror because I not only couldn't use my old specs - the drops were still affecting my sight. My daughter chose the new frames and again, when I picked them up, I sat near the counter to try them on, then changed back to the old specs because I was driving home and didn't want to try out new glasses while driving! I was back home before I had any idea what they looked like on me! So remember that - take someone you can trust to tell you what suits you.

Diane,

We'll be growing a few more vegetables, but mainly drought-tolerant native plants: hopefully low growing ones.

Now that there is just the two of us, a lawn is not required. Also, because the block slopes doen from the back to the front, the back garden was terraced. It is about 4' higher than the house and we have to carry the lawn mower up a flight of steps. Fortunately we have a lightweight electric mower, but it is still a clat we can do without

Do you think Allan might be the one to buy the cruiser? Here we are, buying tickets, and all the time he was sitting on a gold mine!

p.s. sorry about the duplicate thread - it's my itchy trigger finger.

I can believe that, Allan. What's the ratio?

Anyone see Tec? Hope all is well with him.

Allan Report 19 Oct 2009 22:53

Gold Mine....as if!

I spent three years in the Goldfields of WA and only got one small nugget.....and that was for inspecting a septic tank outside of normal working hours!

With the current price of gold the nugget is probably worth $2.00

Diane,

Please take care...remember the old saying of "who takes care of the caretaker?"

As dedicated as you are, your own health should come first

Kind Regards
