You should watch that tap dancing Allan, especially with those hairy legs, likely to start a fire.

Tec, I hate to admit my ignorance in matters culinary, but I've never heard of Bread Pudding

Tec my mum used to make it, as well as treacle toffee and toffee apple's all for bonfire night, she also made a lovely Bread and Butter pudding, which I like with ice-cream, Heaven.

Good night Barbra. I would say it in Spanish, but you mightn't understand the accent! Sleep well.

Susan - I checked and found a couple of posts mentioning my comment - but no problems. A few others had similar thoughts to mine. I was also confused because they seemed to refer to someone different from the original - at least, from what I could see, the membership number was not at all familiar.

Hello all,
Tec, if it is nearly lunch time, do you have lunch at midnight? Or are you implying Allan has lunch at six in the morning? Sure he gets up rather early, but it is still only 6.20 am his time. Of course, that is late for Allan.
Allan, hope you enjoyed Mr Bond.
I have been out on site this morning as part of my job. Got horribly lost (as usual) and missed a crucial turn. Looking for the wrong street name. Always to steps ahead when one should be quite enough. I ended up turning into Sunnyholt Road- into the T-Lane (a dedicated busway separated from the road). They have a monitoring camera!!!!! Hope it wasn't working. Oh well, wait and see. At least I know how to get to the site now. Unfortunately, after this afternoon I will probably never need to go there again.
I have heard of parkin, but didn't know what it was. Sounds delicious. Maybe it goes by another name in the south.
Diet out the window? Best place for it I say. *smiles to self. not serious but I do feel like that sometimes.* On the other hand you only live once.
I am overweight, have diabetes and my fasting blood sugar is slowly creeping up but the overall test still shows 6.1%- still in the well controlled range. Must be my diet (grazing, too many sweets) and exercise. I walk about 10-15 minutes a day. To the train and then to the bus stop and back again.
Have a good day Brits and enjoy the rest of your day down-under people. Off to help with some shopping.

Hi All!

Berona and Susan With Numbers - that thread has been deleted by the looks of it - the original one I mean, not the one Uggers? put up.

There is a major fire on the mountain in our area. I'm too far away to worry about it affecting my home, but the smoke smell is battling with my flowering Jasmine aroma - sadly the smoke is winning. I have to wash 18 years old's work clothes today. I hope he likes smelling like burnt grass!

which thread are you and Sue talking about?

My goodness, between starting my previous message, thinking of clever things to say and failing, and pressing submit: two more pages have appeared. No wonder I can't keep up. Colin

Allan,
I suspect bread pudding might be a regional thing, but if Diane's mum made it, perhaps not.
I might have a go at making a bread and butter pudding at the weekend.
Today I made a delicious stew, but made too much, so maybe having it again tomorrow.

Bonfire night seems to have died a death here, just might hear a few fireworks, but nobody seems to have a bonfire anymore, except the big organised ones that the Rotary Club etc might hold.

Haven't seen anyone with a "Guy" for years

Hello - another quick drop-by while it's quiet. You are lovely people - I've just read through the posts and thought if I'd just dropped in and hadn't met you all before I'd want to come back.

I love bread and butter pudding and make it often in winter as well as rice custard. I well remember my mum making parkin - it was lovely and sticky.

Diane the thread that disappeared was Mel's thread wishing her daughter happy birthday. What a load of twaddle over nothing. No wonder Susanwithnumbers escaped to this thread.

look's like it doesn't matter which thread Berona and Sue were talking about if it's been deleted.

Hi Colin, nice of you to drop in. You must have gone past my area to get to Sunnyholt Road, either by the old Western Highway or the Freeway, they are both not far from me.

As for the T-way - you can bet you were photographed if you made a wrong turn! I got caught, almost on a 'tag'road when I veered off it, but I was photographed somehow. I paid the fine and explained that I never actually went on the 'tag' road, but my polite answer was that my payment was received and a full paragraph on how to obtain a tag. They also said that a refund could not be effected, as the payment was made in full! I'm still trying to work that one out.

Hi to Alison and Colin

Colin, I too have type 2 diabetes, I got a hell of a shock earlier this week my BSL was 8.3, usually it is about 5. I have to go for a full blood test later this month.

Alison, I hope that all is well

Tec, my mum lived in Banger and shrewsbury, not just Here and may have picked up the recipe then.

SueMaid I think I was reading that thread earlier on , was it the one about 14yr old daughter who was the best ( at everything } one?

Allan Report 16 Oct 2009 23:54

Tec, it's a shame that some of the 'traditions' are dying out.

I remember as a kid collecting 'bonty' wood for the bonfire and making a guy. We would then take it in turns waiting outside the local pubs and saying to the patrons as they left "A penny for the guy, Mister"

We used to make enough to buy some fireworks.

As we are rapidly speeding towards that season, do the children still go Carol-Singing?

The thread I mentioned was started by a Melanie, whose number I didn't recognise. I didn't read that thread, but I posted on another thread which seemed to refer to the one by Melanie.

Yes, Melanie's thread had gone, but the other one is still there.
