Good Morning Sue,
I would like to be a fly on the wall in your kitchen this morning - bet it's fun.
Today the children can have ice cream, honey waffles, and chocolate cake for breakfast.......they'll love it.

We're all typing at the same time. The children are very good at entertaining themselves but it's so nice outside that I think we'll take them for a drive and lunch.

Good evening/morning everyone. (Barbra, you got it right - don't name them, you are sure to forget someone and upset them!).

Never in a million years could I imagine you as cantankerous, Tec. Not possible! As for the duvet covers - a lot depends on your height. I always wait until my youngest son is coming to see me - (he's 6ft 3ins), then I wash and iron the cover and wait for him. He seems to disappear inside it for a couple of seconds and, voila! all done!

Allan should be back from his walk by now. I wonder if he met any nice bins this morning? I do worry about him.

I never did consider myself a shortie, I was 5ft 6 for many a long year, but somewhere along the way, I have shrunk a few inches. No medical reason and not noticable. I didn't notice it when my children started growing past me either.

Others may not notice it, but I know where it all went! It slipped down to the hips and went sideways!

You're very clever Linda, I don't know how you find these things - I do hope Allan takes a look at that, then again, will he ever speak to us again?

Yorkshire WI recipe for parkin

half a pound of SR flour
quarter of a pound of medium oatmeal
3 oz sugar
2 teaspoons ground ginger
half a pound of golden syrup
6 oz of maragrine and lard mixed
1 egg

Mix dry ingredients
Mely syrup and fats in a pan, add to dry ingredients. add the beaten egg
Bake in 300 degrees F oven until golden brown and firm on top

I have dropped some mix on the recipe at some time, so can't read how long I thought it took to cook, but it is just a cake,so you can stick a skewer in as normal to tell if it is cooked

Barbra recipe for parkin.

half pound of self raising flour
half pound of fine oatmeal
2oz of butter
2oz of lard
2oz of sugar
half of pound of treacle
1 teaspoon Ginger
1 teaspoon mixed spice
pinch of salt
A little milk

method

sieve the flour and rub in the lard and butter,add all the dry ingredients, warm the treacle, mix with a little milk, mix thoroughly, pour into a flat well greased tin and bake in a moderate oven for 40 to 60 mins

Gas mark 2 or electric setting 300
