Good morning all/Sleep well all others:-))

Janet..Hope you have a nice day at work...I know what you mean, "all by myself " very sad song!!

Ive taken a CDO day today (Carole's day off), so I'm going to do a little work on the tree instead.
Our weather here is still quite cool and wet, we are expecting some warmer weather soon, and I'm looking forward to that!!

I also went on a wild goose chase following the wrong family in my tree, If it hadn't been for a Hot Match on here:-)) I would have wasted quite a lot more time and money. I'm still waiting for the certificates that Ive ordered, hopefully they will arrive in today's mail??

Hello to... Sue, Berona, Linda, B'ful Alison, Barbara, Allan, Tec and Colin and anyone else that drops in:-))

Have a great day/sleep well.

Nobody on this thread for nine hours! Has Sue's absence caused us to wilt?
Tec, I will no longer complain that I rattle.
Allan, I hadn't thought about coriander and parsley with corn flakes. Doesn't the coriander make the milk taste funny? Or do you use carrot juice? I once ran out of milk and tried orange juice. Not recommended.
Berona, I know you are not an amazon but it must have been a big mattress if you were afraid of being trapped underneath. Then I just had the thought of a man or woman eating mattress- something like the Far Side perhaps? - in any case, a scary thought.
Carole, I love the idea of a CDO. I cazn have one as well, was going to take one today but something came up yesterday afternnon at work so I thought I had better show up.Besides, I dislike taking sickies. I feel a fraud, which of course is exactly what I would be.
Hello Alison, Barbra, Diane, Linda and Janet and anyone I have forgotten.
I want an early night tonight to catch up on all the sleep I have missed. Sadly, I have a few hours work tomorrow at a site west of here, with an early start.
Catch you all later.

Hello, everyone:-)

Grandchildren in bed, Grandad and Grandma exhausted - and loving it:-))) Before bed the three of them were playing a Wiggles game. The twins would chase their big brother and blow on him and he'd yell "Well, blow me down" and fall to the floor. The three would then giggle themselves silly before starting all over again. There's nothing nicer than the sound of children laughing. Then when it was bed-time they all hugged each other goodnight and went off to bed.

Daughter's partner manages a book shop and before they went out the door he handed me a bag of books and some of them look very interesting so I'm off for a bath, an early night and a look at these books.

Hi, Colin - sorry didn't see you there as I took a long time to type. Sounds like you work too hard - not good for you, you know:-)) You have such a dry sense of humour and I love it.

Grr, I typed a long reply then lost it, so just a quick summary

I went out for a free meal last night. The tourist office does it every year as a thank you to the volunteers. They of course are quids in because the volunteers save them a fortune in staff wages. It was a set three course meal, so naturally it was obligatory to eat the lot,so now I can hardly move.

Berona, Durham records office should have dealt with your query ages ago. If there is anything I can do, just pm me the details and I will see if I can help.

Won't those books get soggy in the bath Sue?

Hello Colin, we will have to make a concerted effort to take over the thread in Sue's absence.

I aim to please Sue,

We are off to mums because the energy surveyor is coming to to the survey as part of the HIP's pack, I bet that takes all of thirty seconds.

i also have to take my ID into the estate agents before we can market the house. I am beginning to think I must be on Britain's most wanted list because everywhere I go, I need to prove who I am. It is something to do with money laundering apparently.

Have a good day/sleep everyone

Hi Linda,
It looks as if grandma Sue is going to pop in regularly in any case, at least when the kids are in bed. Say, after 10:00 your time. Since she posted about 8:30pm our time the grandchildren must be quite young. In my slightly twisted experience primary school age children stay up until at least 9:30 pm. Not like in my day ... then again, in 1958 we didn't have a television set. Or play-station or whatever those things are called. Not even a donkey kong. But we could walk to school in safety, didn't have to be driven, Just as well, as my father didn't have a car.

eGood Morning/Evening Everyone wherever you are,

Another lovely Autumn day here, and it looks like it's here for the weekend. So many flowers still out in the garden, hardly seems like mid October.
Much to do out there before winter sets in, but although the spirit's willing, the flesh is weak at the moment. Maybe next week.

Linda,......Hope you got on ok with the HIPs energy surveyer. I've never had to have one done, but I do wonder if it really is beneficial to the vendors, as was claimed when initiated, or just another method of making work for the boys, while parting us from our money. Maybe I'm a cynic?

Hope you had a good shopping trip Barbra, sounds like your area is similar to this, with you having to travel to the supermarket, but small price to pay for being where you want to be.
Diane, Are you feeling better these days?, I hope so. I watched a programme on tv with lots of shots of Liverpool, amazed at how the city has been developed since I was last there. Wouldn't know my way round now.

Berona, Delighted to know you were not eaten by the mattress. I have mastered the art of turning a mattress over, and round in one manouvre.
What I do not get on with is those infernal duvet covers. Another stupid Continental habit foisted on to us. I get into all sorts of pickles trying to get the cover on. I've ended up inside them, over my head, on the wrong way, allsorts. Much to be said for the good old fashioned Eiderdown that stayed where it was when you went to bed, instead of slipping off one side or the other.

Am I turning into a cantankerous old curmudgeon?

Hello to Alison, Carole, Colin, Allan, Sue, Hope to speak to you later.

Tec.

Diane Report 16 Oct 2009 20:24

Hi Tec
I have my off day's were I feel really down which is why I disappear every so often, I feel really tired most day's and have arguement's with myself about my life, ( sound's nutty I know ) I think if a person is stressed they tend to do that. LOL
Your problem with duvet cover's, if you turn it inside out and then reach inside to the corner's then get the corner's of duvet and hold them you can then pull duvet into cover and shake cover over duvet and it should go on the right way, I can do the whole thing in about 2mins, how clever am I lol

The HIP surveyor did take longer than a couple of minutes, but that was because he spent ages messing about with an old fashioned tape measure, at least the estate agents have the new fangled things which take automatic measurements. The report is on the website and shows the place is average. It suggests ways to improve it, which are just plain common sense. It prattles on about the carbon footprint, which I find hilarious given the fact that the surveyor appears to work for a firm based in Stafford. If he has driven all that way to do a survey, I don't think much of his carbon footprint.

Of course you are Tec, that is why we like you so much

Diane

Diane Report 16 Oct 2009 20:41

Hi Linda lol, It is because they only do it on odd accasion's, which remind's me I stripped my bed today so must remember to make it before bedtime, I have gone to bed many time's and relised I have frogotten to make it, not the kind of thing you want to do at bedtime lol

Diane

LindainHerriotCountry Report 16 Oct 2009 20:44

Oh how can you say that they only do the duvet on odd occasions Diane? Tec and Allan keep telling us that they do just about all of the work in their homes and we believe them- not.

Hello everyone:-)) A quick look in while it's quiet and before the breakfast rush. Thank goodness the children are good sleepers - I'm up for anything after a good night's sleep.

So Linda and Diane - you thought you'd pick on Tec while I wasn't here. Poor man. He's cowering in the corner. Shame on you!!

Tecwyn Report 16 Oct 2009 20:52

Thank you Diane for the advice on the duvet. Due to be changed tomorrow, so will give your method a try.
Linda the survey sounds interesting, and I get your point about the carbon footprint - as with politicians, and royaly as they fly all over the world constantly.
The only person who says I'm cantankerous is my daughter when she's here. We actually get on very well, though I don't get to see her very often as she teaches in Shropshire, so is tied up in term time.
If she thinks I'm cantankerous now, she 'aint seen nothing yet, I'm going to practice.....keep her on her toes
