Yes Porthmadog is a nice place - the drive there is beautiful, especially at this time of year. The scenery is among the best in N.Wales with areas of forestry, and mountains of Snowdonia in the background.
I was let loose in the supermarket as OH didn't feel up to it. Needless to say, I bought lots of "unnecessary" things, naughties, that we don't see locally. Little boy let loose in a sweetshop comes to mind, Ha Ha.
Tomorrow we're off to the doc's for our flu-jabs, Thursday I have a warfarin test, Friday Oh attends diabetic clinic, so that's our week.

Glad you're also enjoying good weather, a real bonus in mid October, will shorten the winter. Sounds lovely wher you live. I too am very lucky to live where I do. We have the sea at the end of the road, and mountains and forest all around, it's part of the Snowdonia National Park. I have travelled a bit, but cannot imagine living anywhere else, I know I am fortunate here.

Don't go getting all melancholy - this is the funny farm, Allan will be along in a minute with his hairy legs, and Berona practising her dancing. It all happens on this thread.
I'm pleased to say that I am the only sane one here, and a calming influence on the rest.......you'll see.

Hello Barbra. I'm happy where I live too although - I've lived here since I was 3. However we've seen so many beautiful places through the world. I do have to admit that I love Britain and I actually feel homesick when we've gone a while between visits. Funny when you think I've lived in Australia since I was 3. OH loves Britain too but only to visit. He dislikes the cold and always says I may feel different if I spent a winter in Britain.

Well the weather in WA is still doing crazy things...froma top of about 18C yesterday to a forecast top of 32c on Sunday.

Whilst the winter hasn't been too cold this year it has been wet and windy but I would prefer a gradual build up to the heat.

Like Janet, you will probably hear me moaning about the hot weather if a few months time and longing for a return to winter!

I wish I lived in Camelot! Which, from the descriptions tec and Barbra give is where they live. How I envy you both

In February, the month I hate, I will be wishing I were in OZ and the sunshine. Our winters here have changed in recent years. We don't suffer the sub zero temps so much, but recent winters have been very wet and extremely windy, and yes, that can get you down after a bit.

No, Barbra...but I will admit to having sparse growth.

Up until a few months ago I was totally bald and it is a long story....however, a few years ago when in full time employment a few of us had our heads shaved to raise money for Leukaemia Research, and as mine started growning back I looked like a cabbage patch doll.

As my job involved meeting members of the public and going interstate for various meetings I felt self conscious about it so decided to keep my head shaved.

Now that I am no longer in that position I decided to let it grow again!

I don't want to brag or anything, but I would like the people of Australia and the United Kingdom to know that I have a full head of hair.

I can see that the weather could get you down after a while. Actually I feel like that at the end of summer too. The humidity here is quite high and some days I feel so washed out I can't be bothered doing anything.

I forgot to mention that all seems well with my little dog. Her white blood cell count was high but the vet thought she probably had an infection in her gums. Everything else is fine other than the usual things that come with old age. She does have some arthritis in her back legs. The behavioural problems probably herald the onset of dementia - not unusual in dogs apparently. We just need to give her lots of love and care - not difficult as she's a lovely little dog.

Tec you brag all you like - my OH would if he had a full head of hair. It annoys him no end that his two brothers, both a good deal older than him, have more hair than he does:-))

Barbra, I don't think Allan's got a milk round. He has got cats, I have a theory that he walks the streets at night, pouncing on unsuspecting cats, puts them in the wheelie bins, and takes them home to join the others.
I don't think it's any more sinister than that - I hope not

Good evening/morning everyone. Yes, I can attest to Allan having a single hair on his head. I had to leave a hole in his beanie to allow for it to be pulled through. Tec's nightcap is coming along nicely - very long, so that he can wrap it around his neck. So nice and long, in fact, that I hope he doesn't have to unwrap it in a hurry if it's choking him!

I started reading the posts an hour ago - then the phone rang. My daughter is home from holidays early and had to give me a detailed description of the weather which sent them home early. It's probably beautiful where they were now, but they didn't like the wind. Anyway, that's my excuse for being late - again!


Barbra - I don't really know why Allan goes walking so early in the morning. He is an ex-pat Brit, but I won't say anything more. Can't help wondering, though. Why he has to talk to garbage bins, I don't know. When I pick up my new specs, perhaps he would like me to send the old ones over?

Sue, Being serious for a moment...I think I can achieve that...I'm pleased that your dog is ok. I presume wtih the mention of the onset of dementia your dog is fairly old and that she has been with you for a long time?
