The lady 'in charge' of this thread is SueMaid, but she only had time to pop in and make one post to-day. She was taking her son's super-duper car in for a service, but as the annual Bathurst motor races were on at the weekend, I'm afraid that once she got behind the wheel, she might have headed straight for Bathurst to try it out on the circuit!

We have had our water cut off today, they are working on the water pipes in our area. Its surprising how much we rely on the use of water to keep the house running.

Tec, no we haven't found a horse to lease yet. I suppose my daughter will have me out and about again this week, I don't mind at all, I quite like to drive, as long as I don't have to drive around Melbourne!!

Hello, everyone. I didn't get back in time to catch anyone. But when I did get on it was fun to read the posts. Son's car took a bit longer than I expected. Nice car to drive but too many buttons and levers. I had strict instructions not to touch anything - as if I dared:-)) If I'd gone to Bathurst I would have been the star of the show - son's car is a Holden:-))

Linda thanks so much for sending me the original images. They do give extra info. as you said. It's thrown up a couple of questions for me to answer in that a couple of the families had lost one or two children that I didn't know about so I will look for them. It was great to see the handwriting and signatures although some were a bit "messy”. I hope your OH is speaking to you but if he’s anything like mine he’ll just raise his eyebrows and shake his head:-))

OH has been assisting with first aid and sports medicine at the Masters’ Games. He rang me just after lunch and he’s exhausted already – but loving it. He has been reading up on the literature sent by the Sports Medicine Association of which he is a member. It worried him a little because there was a whole section on the protocol of dealing with a death. The pamphlet also talked in length about how common heart attacks are likely to be.

Well hopefully I’ll see you all later although I may be on late tomorrow morning. Don’t send out a search party – I won’t be far away:-))

Barbra comes across as having a sense of humour that would fit in here, and would seem to be another ally for the fairer sex on this thread...heaven knows, they need all the help thay can get!

Berona, we help pay for the resources so we should use them to our advantage!

Hi, Allan. I didn't do anything other than put down the volume of the music, put the gear stick into drive, reverse or park and use the handbreak. I also found it hard to get used to the "spoiler" on the back, but I do have to say it's a beautiful car and I know why my son loves driving it. What are you doing on here at this time?

I find it hard to catch up on the posts in the morning with the time difference..everyone whizzing of to bed or on to more strenuous activities and I'm still posting my first reply!

I was having that trouble too, Allan. Even when I didn't have problems booting up, I still took a while to catch up on the posts, but it's been a lot better since I have a quick look-in before closing down at night. That way, I only have the morning posts to read and I've been good this week - sometimes I'm waiting for someone to start the day off!

I am trying to get back to some sort of normality Berona, in fact I am going back to my volunteer role in the tourist office this afternoon. Having said that i have spent the morning so far dealing with things from my "to do "list. the trouble is as fast as I cross one thing off the top, something else gets added to the bottom.

There is such a lot to do isn't there when you lose a parent? The load is falling on my big sister (Dad died in March and she and I are the only kids). She lives in a town 10 minutes away from Dad's place, whereas I am 500+ kms away. It's my husband's birthday tomorrow and I had a little cry tonight, as usually my Dad would be ringing, saying "I believe your bloke is having a birthday....." (this is after my sister would ring and remind him!)

Good morning/evening all. Nice to see you post again, Barbra. If you watch Home and Away then that allows you entry to the thread - oh and you're Allan's friend so you can definately be a member of the "Aussie club".

I'm building up to the 3rd anniversary of my dad's death. It's Monday and I know it will be a sad day but in some ways easier. I dreamt of him last night and he was happy and healthy and so much his old self and I realised that I don't think of him as he was just before he died anymore and that has taken awhile. Linda I hope it won't be long before your memories are good ones. The last days of your mother's life were such a small part of her overall life - there was so much more.

I have to take my little dog to the vets this morning. She's having a problem with her teeth which will be cleaned but I'm more concerned with a couple of other things that have been happening lately. She is constantly under my feet and I’m often in danger of falling over her especially in the kitchen. She obviously stresses when I go out because she wets on the floor – or worse – even if I’m only gone for a short while. She is getting impatient with the grandchildren and won’t let them pet her anymore so I’m wondering if she’s in pain. The vet said he’ll check her over while she’s under anaesthetic and do a couple of blood tests. Hopefully it’s nothing more than that she’s getting old – nearly 13.

Hopefully I will be back in time to catch up with you all. I put Berona and Linda in charge so behave yourselves – you know who I mean:-)))

So you live in Scotland, how lovely, I've never been there, but who knows?
maybe one day. I live in West Wales.

I've been in a bit of a quandary today (nothing unusual in that)
For over forty years I had a very dear friend, who lived not far from here, in an amazingly interesting 13th Century Cistercian Monastry that had been a farm for centuries. I visited the farm many times, and stayed there a few times. Sadly my friend died suddenly three years ago, and the farm and all the land was bequeathed to the National Trust. They began a programme of renovation and refurbishment. The place had fallen into some disrepair in recent years. Anyway, a notice has appeared in the local press to say they are having an Open Day when visitors can view progress so far. The building is of National Historic Interest.
My problem is, while I am bursting to see what the National Trust have done there, I would at the same time feel very odd and uncomfortable being there because of memories of my friend around the place. Somehow, to me, it would seem like trespassing. Hard to exactly express my feelings here, but some of you may understand how I feel.
