Ooer, Allan, am I missing something? Yesterday, I made a remark on how quiet the Chat board had been lately, then I ran through a few threads and found a spat going on - spread over two threads.

Am I missing something? Haven't looked yet.

Tec, getting out of bed is simple..as the Earth rotates we simply arrive in the position previously occupied by the British Isles which means that unless we are strapped in, we all fall out of bed as we are now upside down.

It's just the gravity of the situation!

When I was at sea, I was regularly thrown out of bed in the night if a violent storm got up, also if I forgot to shut the porthole, I got soaked as I hit the deck - that is a rude awakening

Tec, it depends on the weather, but definitely some shopping as I have run out of milk, and depending on the weather, probably more work in the garden.

The back lawn is taking ages to remove by hand, but due to the layout of the property we cannot get a bobcat in, although we could hire a rotary mower. Unfortunately, because our block slopes down from back to front the back garden is about 4'.0" higher that the GFL of the house. The guy who built the house put steps up to the back lawn but never included a ramp....every thing has to be carried up the steps!

Hmm.. That sounds like a difficult situation when you want to do something major - we had a house on a steep slope once, and I can remember the problems that presented me with at times. Are you planning something big out there this year?

Tec, define big!

I was fed up with lugging the lawn mower up there and because we had a large Jacaranda it was taking all the nutrient from an already impoverished sandy soil. So now we will plant drought tolerant natve plants together with more space for vegies

Well that sounds big enough to me. If the soil is hard then removing the turf is hard work. Is it a large area? What about a mechanical rotavator from a hire shop?
Shall I pop over with my spade and dig it up? Can you lure your family over for a weekend dig?
Anything like mine - then the answer is no

Tec, fortunately, the soil is sandy.

The block is about 850 sq. mt in area but the house only occupies a snall portion of that as it is a two storey pommy style of house rather than the typical single storey Australian sprawl, so both front and rear gardens are quite large.

As for the family...forget it

I was thinking of getting the OH to go away for a few days without taking any clothes and with strict instructions not to use the bank accounts.

I would then spend two nights at midnight digging noisily in the garden before reporting her missing to the Police.

Then, when they questioned the neighbours they may have become suspicious and dug the garden over for me, looking for her body!
