Sue, I'm sorry I never gave you a reply as to why we were discussing lamb etc.....it's because we all meat on this Thread:0))

Berona, we do the same but we do buy topside and mince it.

The normal mince in the supermarkets is full of fat. If we do use it we always cook it first on its own and then drain of the liquid. It's amazing how much fat comes off.

Bubble and Squeak is sold here as a frozen vegetable. I've used it with eggs for breakfast in the past.

It's a combination of 'leftover' veggies, although it can be made fresh with mashed potato, peas, carrots, etc. made into a rissole.

Is that what you have, Tec? or are you asking what it is?

A mixture of leftover cabbage, potatoes, fried together, sometimes with bacon?

So do I Sue, I think the idea was to use up left overs of mashed potatoe and cabbage. But I make it in it's own right, adding some chopped bacon, and a little onion, then fry till golden brown - delicious.

It's many years since I've had Bubble and Squeak ( the name is supposed to have come from the sound the mixture makes as it is frying)

I think my mum made the last lot that I had, that's nearly 40 years ago.

Sue we have lamb's fry sometimes and I indulge myslef by having sausages with it and rich gravy, mashed potatoes, carrots and peas.

Because of my cholesterol levels, sausages are a special treat three or four times a year

Sorry Berona, that I was not around Saturday morning..I was busy planing my trip to Ballarat:-))

Sue..Like your niece, my daughter is horse mad, she would also love to work with a riding School..and maybe also run her own School one day.
She is also interested in music, so she is also furthering her education in that area as well.

Allan...We once owned our own horse (its a long story) but it didn't work out, the horse was very unsuitable and with our dry conditions, lack of feed etc, it was a nightmare at the time!!!
So, leasing a horse is an agreement between the owner and the person leasing. It could be to provide food, money for feed, cleaning out a paddock, mucking out stables the list is endless!!! in return my daughter would like to ride more to build her confidence and education.

I agree with you Linda, anything to do with horses is very expensive, my daughter asked for a new pair of jodhpurs, at $150 a pair!! We will have to mortgage the house soon LOL!!!

Well the weather started of really nice today... but big black clouds have just rolled in, they have forecast more rain for all of next week:-))))

Welcome James and Liz. Please come and visit us often. We're a mad lot but we have fun - and we're not all Aussies:-))

Carole we have paddocks behind us and a lot of people use the land for horses including two miniature ponies. The owners seem to put such a lot of work into looking after them so I should imagine it's time consuming as well as expensive. I've noticed that most of the horses are owned by girls - in fact most people I know who go horse-riding are girls. Perhaps boys are more into things that have engines.

I've had a lovely visit from my baby brother this afternoon. He has helped a great deal with our family history and as we had the house to ourselves for awhile we could talk genealogy to our heart's content without boring anyone else.

Hello again Sue. My brother came to see me too, but didn't stay long and my daughter's family are still away, so my day was reasonably quiet.

I managed to get quite a bit of transcribing done. Then, I wrote the post to welcome James and Liz, and my computer didn't have the Submit button on the Reply section!

I've never had that happen before, so I took a copy of the post, then went out of GR and Internet Explorer, then into Google Chrome - and bingo! My computer is working perfectly - but no Submit button in I/E!! It works fine in Google Chrome. There's a Submit button there! Weird!! I've heard a few complaints about I/E v.8, so it looks like it's my turn to have problems with it. I notice the reply box doesn't jump around in Google either.

Berona - the jumping around is very annoying. I usually type my reply in Microsoft Office and then copy and paste into the reply box. There might be an easier way but it works for me.

The transcribing must be very interesting and, I should imagine, hard work.

Sue...You are so lucky to have your brother to talk to about your family history, I have tried in vain to get some of my brothers and sisters involved but they all think I'm mad!!!!
