Good evening Linda, or Noswaith Dda as they say here,

It was local Welsh lamb, but I didn't recognise it. Maybe it was Freda, who I befriended in the Spring - I hope not,
Did you say you were vegetarian? or am I confused again?

You and your OH have been busy bees. How come you had a few choice words to say, when it was you who trod in the paint making a mess. Surely OH had something to say, after his handiwork.
I fully understand about all the paperwork you are having to plough through. Nightmare isn't it?. The worse trauma I had was with the council where my mother lived. Despite goodness knows how many telephone calls, letters, and visits to the council offices, I could not get a figure on how much was owed in Council Tax on her property . This went on for months, the last straw being when I recieved a cheeky letter from the Legal Dept, reminding me of my obligations as executor, and threatening me with all sorts. Needless to say, they had a very stiff letter back, telling them to get their act together, and talk to the dept concerned. Thankfully, it was then settled in about ten days. In the end, it was such a piddling amount anyway. Apart from that, everything else more or less fell into place, but the mountain of paperwork was a pain.

How's the cough today? - getting better I hope.

You certainly are confused Tec, it was OH who trod on the paint, he had only just painted five minutes before.

I am not vegetarian, I don't know where you got that from. I enjoyed a very nice steak for dinner tonight.

The council tax departments must be in league,as i am having trouble with them as well. They actually owe mum some money and instead of waiting for the probate,have sent a cheque to me for the money they owe. Unfortunately the way they have made it out, makes it impossible to pay into a bank account. I have to go in and see them next week and try to get it reissued in my name. From the calibre of the people I have spoken to on the phone, I don't think that is going to be a smooth transaction.

Tec, I consider myself reprimanded and I hang my head in shame.

The babysitting went very well - I really only had to give them breakfast, get them dressed and then they play quite happily until their father picked them up. I then went home to find OH had done the washing AND hung it out. That was a bonus - I could sit with a cuppa and read the posts on here.

Allan what a shame you missed your day out. Still cabbage rolls sound good. I had a German school friend and her mother would make the most wonderful cabbage rolls - perhaps a little different from Ukrainian ones as I'm not sure what was in them.

Linda I thought the worse thing after my father died was ringing up and telling businesses and services that my father was deceased. I tried to cancel his name on my parents’ private medical insurance and the woman on the phone kept telling me that he would have to write a letter to cancel. When I became distressed – with my mum in tears in the background – she finally realized that it was impossible for him to put it in writing. His name was on a contract for television rental – he’d always insisted on renting a tv rather than buy one. My mum wanted to cancel it and buy one. They told her that it was a binding contract that she would have to honour. One phone call from me telling them that as he was deceased and therefore there was no contract was enough for them to pick the television up within a couple of days. We eventually had some copies made of his death certificate stamped and signed by a JP so we could prove he was deceased. If we’d been told that to start with it would have been so much easier.

Hi Linda,
Yes, I admit I am confused, it's sad really for one who was once so sharp,but I'll continue to muddle along, trying to keep up. I put it down to the pace of life. Hectic social life, constantly having to make life changing decisions, should we have carrots, or peas for dinner. Shall I wear pink or green socks today. Shall I turn left or right at the village crossroads. It's just constant pressure. Is it any wonder I'm confused.
Alright for all you Spring chickens out there.

I have been training my OH to do the washing as well. Unfortunately once he puts them in the machine, he tends to forget about them. I am still working on the concept of taking them out to dry

If you just wore one pink sock and one green, then you wouldn't need to make that decision Tec.

It's ok, you are forgiven - I'm sensitive and confused you know. Sounds like you enjoyed the babysitting - bet you're a fun Grandma.
I do the washing,and hang it out. Dyed OHs underwear green once, she was delighted, having never had green knickers and bras before. And I've just become the proud owner of a brilliant vacuum cleaner - a Kirby, the Rolls Royce of vacuums.

Linda, OH has also taken to cooking a couple of nights a week. I really enjoy the break as he didn't really have the time when he was working.

The weather here continues to be cold, grey and miserable. We get a little sun now and then but not much. We've had some whacking thunderstorms.

Hello, hello! Late again. This time, I went to bed a bit too early and although I read my book for a while and went straight off after that, I was awake again at 2:30 - so sat up and repeated the process.

Tec - do you really wear pink socks? You make me wonder at times! I don't think wearing one pink and one green would help him, Linda. He would probably worry about which one goes on the right and which on the left.
I think also, that he might have dropped himself right into it when he admitted that he was having lamb chops! I think the local shepherds need to start counting their sheep (but stay awake to do it!).

I must admit, that I am flagging here, I need to go to bed soon. I can never stay up late. I would have gone before now, but OH is watching football on TV and that is boring, to me anyway

I suppose you are beginning to relax a little, now that you have begun to accept all that has happened. That will make you realise how tired you are - and having the cold would make it worse. You are probably mentally tired as well as physically tired. Just take care, won't you?

Good morning, Berona. What are your plans for today? OH is going to Kellyville 3 times this week for the Masters' Games. He is a sports trainer so will be doing strapping, massages etc. so I think today will be a quiet day.

I'm a bit concerned about any sheep running around Tec's estate missing bits:-))

Everybody seems very industrious at the moment: painting, washing, cooking,childminding!

It's making me feel worn out just reading about it. I shall have to have a lie down before tackling the ironing

Speaking as one who has been call a "consummate bureaucrat" there is nothing worse than dealing with the bureaucratic machine: totally inflexible and unable to make a decision because everything to them should be black and white....no such thing as exceptional circumstances.

Do not order lamb's fry if you wish to eat liver!

Lamb's fry in UK is a rather unusual delicacy which goes nicely with bacon

Ah I have just googled it and as I suspected it is lambs round mens bits, well we certainly don't eat them in Yorkshire

Why would you not order Lamb's Fry in UK, Allan? Lamb's fry and lamb's liver look different to me. I prefer the Fry and can eat either with bacon - and onions. Is there a different part with the same name?

Editted to say WOW, Linda! The Fry I know would have to have come from a big lamb, if it came from there! Funny shape too!
