We had the most beautiful border collie. We lost her when she was nearly 15 - a good age for a big dog. She was very loyal and placid. Now we have a Maltese and although we love her dearly she's quite yappy and temperamental. She's getting old now as she is nearly 13.

Come on Tec....any male is worth three females, so at least three more are required before equality is achieved!

Diane, what you have must be catching!

I never was very good at proof-reading my own material. I was the same at work, I could pick up mistakes in other people's reports but would miss the most glaring errors in my own

Berona Report 3 Oct 2009 00:27

I'm back!!! and I suppose some have already gone to bed. Just as I posted asking where is everybody, I had a phone call from a family member with woes - all of which are probably only speculation anyway, but I had to lend a sympathetic ear.....after that, I came back - and do you know how long it takes to read five pages????

It's actually raining here! - very lightly, but constant, and just enough to wet the roads on a holiday weekend. I spent a few years working in motor vehicle insurance, many years ago, but I still think of the amount of claims which roll in after light rain. It's worse after light rain than heavy rain because the rain mixes with any oil on the road, whereas, heavy rain washes the oil away. I also still make a mental note of the number plate of the car in front of me too... This rain is forecast for the whole weekend!

Daughter's family have gone away because they pick up their new boat this weekend so I suppose they won't be waiting for sunshire to try it out. Otherwise, I have no idea if I am getting visitors or if I will be having a quiet one. I take it as it comes.

Of course I deserve it Berona, I am just a gibbering example of the male species deserving of much pity, which I know that both yourself and Diane have in vast store!

Ah Allan. You are playing on our ability to give pity. Stand in line. I've been on the phone doing that already to-day, so I'm all pittied out by now! Lucky I had eaten breakfast before I got my call or I would have been in a nasty mood by now.

Ours is Labour Day this time. Bit of a farce, isn't it? I was meaning to ask why you have Queen's Birthday so late in the year? Her actual birthday is in April, but because it clashes with Easter, even she officially celebrates in on 9th June (the King's birthday) although when I was in England, they had the ceremonies, but no public holiday - and yet we do have one!?!

Diane, don't let these men hassle you. They are little lambs in reality - just like you to think they are macho men.
