Oh Diane,

wine taste so much better than an onion sanger! I'll stick to my red wine!

Allan has *weelly* bad jokes!!

Actually, when I first had chemo, I used to tell my friends that I needed to get the mind-set right and think of it positively, so I said to them I need to chant "must like chemo, must like chemo". An old school mate chuckled and said "chemo is my friend." So guess what.........? I had that printed on a polo shirt. "Must like chemo , must like chemo." on the front and "Chemo is my friend" on the back and I wear it to treatment everytime, even now, when I'm just on Herceptin. Everyone gets a giggle out of it. So perhaps, I have Allan's, Tec's and Colin's sense of humour?!! Uh-oh!

Allan,
I think if you smile, or say hello to a stranger in the city, they are suspicious of you motives - that is sad.
When my daughter lived in London a few years ago, I went down on the train, she would meet me at a main line station.
She was strict in her instruction - don't make eye contact with anyone, certainly don't speak to anyone, and stay in the station concourse until I get there.
Now I'm an old man, spent half my life travelling around the world, in some very hairy places. I just had to laugh to myself.

I can't help it Diane!! There's no hope for us on this thread:-))

Tec, my daughter used to work in Sydney and she was often accosted by homeless people asking for money. She would sometimes ask what it was for and if they said coffee she would buy one for them. Most times they were grateful but on occasion when she turned with the coffee they were gone. I once gave a whole packet of TimTam (chocolate) biscuits to two vagrants drinking tea. They were so pleased that one grabbed my hand and kissed it. My daughter - having lived in the city for a number of years - was horrified and told me never to do that again.

I do agree that country folk anywhere are much more friendly than city folk, but when I spoke of doctors' waiting rooms, I was speaking about those in the same area! That's why I wondered what has changed us?

SueMaid Report 2 Oct 2009 00:18

Berona I think it's the medical centres rather than the old fashioned doctor's surgery that have become impersonal.

Good night Diane - it's so nice to see you having a laugh.

Bye Allan and Alison - enjoy your days and you too Carole.

I'm listening to a CD of Glenn Miller music. It made me think of our cruise - sitting together for dinner and watching Tec and Berona dance. I do hope you have been practising your dance steps.

Sue,
I have always given to vagrants on the streets in the towns and cities, and yes, my daughter also strongly disaproves. But I always wonder how did they get to be like that, and "There, but for the Grace of God go I"
I know that often the cause is drink or drugs, but so what, they are all human, and somebody's son or daughter.

Berona, I think people are too busy and wrapped up in their own lives to talk to each other now - that is sad.

Well folks, it's past my bedtime, so I will wish you all a good day, or a good night,

Goodnight everyone,
Tec

Good Morning Berona,

Do you have any plans for the weekend?

I was hoping to read an update on Jean, but all I could find was the thread that Lynda is visiting her.

Good Morning Berona,

I was wondering where everyone was today too. I hope you've got everything in for the weekend - will you have visitors?
Why is it a holiday weekend in Oz?

I am not here,

well only to close down the computer. I have been snuggled up in bed watching TV all night and trying not to cough because my ribs hurt when I do.

I hope you are in a healthier state!!!
