Good Morning Allan,
How I agree with your sentiments on councils, they must be the same all over the world. Round and round in circles in never ending discussion about things that could be settled in hours.
There is something going on here, that is too complex to put on here, but they have got nowhere in years, due to in-, fighting, and bigotry.

Laughable but sad, and frustrating to those not in power.

Ahhh! Sue, just when I was going to send a subtle reply to Tec!

I'm still trying to get my head around the time differences....I seem to be stuck in some kind of time warp!

You guys in the East will be 3 hrs ahead of us in the West, whilst Tec will be 8 hrs behind WA time...I think!

Australian fairies? 'hangover'?

Yes, Sue. Daylight saving is early this year. It is normally the last weekend in October, but this year it's Saturday/Sunday THIS WEEK!! I suppose it works out better because of the holiday weekend....I hope someone tells the cows.

This will give us a full six months of it now.

Good Morning Berona,
Have I said good morning to you today?
If not - apologies,
If so, ignore me - I'm losing the plot,
Nuff bends my mind

Allan,
You have seriously confused me with the time change thing, so as I can't get my head around it, I shall just wait and see what happens, and go with the flow.

Tec, the last three years, WA has had Daylight Saving Time. It was dropped this year after a referendum and that has thrown me a bit, particularly as it is now getting light at 5.15 am.

I'll eventually get there!

Hi Allan, Berona and Tec

Hi and Good-bye SueMaid - have a great day.

I too have read the threads about Jean. It really doesn't sound good. I hope they can treat it. I really really hate cancer.

Allan

Allan Report 30 Sep 2009 23:45

Good morning Alison

I don't think that there is a single family that hasn't been affected by cancer.

My mother died of it 37 years ago, she was just 55. OH's mum also died of it a couple of years later

I suppose that when science has found a cure, another nasty will appear!

Tec of course you can come...what a journey: we don't know where we are going or where we came from and under those circumstances we can never be lost!

Good Morning Alison,

Yes, cancer is an awful thing - but on an optimistic note, two people in my family have made a full recovery, and are now clear, and back at work.
There does seem to be much more reason for optimism now than there ever was.
Everyone touched by this has my support and sympathy,

Tec

Good morning all - or didn't I say that before? Doesn't hurt to say it again.

Allan, I never could keep up with your time before and now that I have almost learned it, you decide not to have daylight saving any more!

Tec. This means that when us "normal" people are rising after a "normal" night's sleep - Allan will still be out on his 3am walk!

I'm still messing around with this car licence. To-day, I have to go see the doctor for her to fill in a form to say that I am still fit to drive. Our RTA doesn't make it easy. What I don't understand is that I went for my eye test and the specialist filled in her part of the RTA form, then told me that my sight hasn't deteriorated much in ten years, but I should be tested each TWO years...So why, I wonder, do I need to be tested EVERY year to satisfy the RTA? Do they know something about eyesight that speciaists don't know?......Grrrr...government departments!

Alison - I'd like to know more about your treatment. How long have you been having it? and is there an end in sight? Is it uncomfortable or does it have after-effects? Nosey, I know, but who knows who is next? and I am concerned for you. I like to understand it.

Good Morning Allan,

There is so much cancer about, isn't there? I'm actually a 3rd generation breast cancer person (hate the term, "sufferer"). My mum had it about 38 years ago - when I was just a wee thing. Medical science has come such a long way and they are finding new things all of the time, so hopefully, a cure isn't too far away.

On a lighter note - we don't have daylight saving. I'm happy not to have it. I don't particularly like change! Where I live, in Summer time - it's pretty much hot 24 hours a day. I hate it when you go to bed and it's still over 30 degrees celsius and it gets down to 24 or something ridiculous like that.

Gosh, I'm in a moanie-groanie mood today, aren't I? I shall lighten up with, I bet, Allan, that you look fetching in a purple wig and pearls! Maybe as the maid, you could wear the wig, so that we can find you easily when we're all traipsing through Tec's grand manor?!

Well folks, it's past midnight here, much as I would love to stay, you are all so interesting, I must go to bed.

So enjoy your day down under, and as I appear to be the only pom here tonight, I can't say good night to them, so goodnight Aussies

Hi Berona,

That's ok. At the moment, my treatment is Herceptin, which I have every 3 weeks through my porta-cath (veins not good enough to cope). It doesn't really have any side-effects, apart from possible damage to the heart, so every 3 months I have to have an echocardiogram. I'm on this treatment for life - when the cancer starts to grow again, I will have to go back on chemo. Last time, we waited for a while, as I only had 9 months before it started up again. The Herceptin slowed its growth and we didn't want to go back on chemo too soon - it loses its effectiveness after a while and the longer between chemos the better for me to build up my strength. So, my chemo had finished in July '07 and I went back on in December '08. Apparently, I'm doing remarkably well (clever me!). My cancer is Inflammatory Breast Cancer, which is apparently rare and aggressive. By the time I was diagnosed, it had already spread to my liver and spine. I'm also on tablets to reduce female hormones ? and tablets for calcium for my bones.
